Play Ideas for a Drama competition!! (HELP)?
So every year at our school there's this thing called the Sears Drama Festival where different schools compete their play(max length of play= 45 mins). At my school we usually use a student written play but this year the choices are pretty bad. So me and my friends want to submit a last minute play but we need an idea! So anyone got an idea? :) note: the competition gets pretty extreme the best school's past two ideas have been: a love story based around boxing in the 1920's and a metaphorical extremely dark play concerning the need to conform in everyday life :|

Mini Competition Ideas?
My friends and i have a best friend competition every year and winner of a series of mini competitions wins. Each participant gets to pick a competition to enter and i am just trying to think of some new unique ones to do. Last year i did musical chairs, other ones that have been chosen:monopoly, 1 v 1 basketball, foosball, frisbee throw, geography bee, hotdog eating contest and sauna sitoff, as well as a few others. Ideas for English Language Competition?
This is such a huge question, I'm not sure what can be done in the space of these messages. OK, first, what is the purpose of this course? Is this for employees who are non-native speakers of English? Or native speakers? What do they need to be able to write? If this is a workplace course, they don't need to be able to write the kinds of expository essays that college students write. You first need to conduct a needs analysis. What do they need to be able to write, and what does your employer intend in offering this class? Communication is far more important than grammatical accuracy or surface level issues (spelling, punctuation, etc). Get some advise from ESL or writing experts in your area.

Oh my goodness yes.In-person pitch/business model competitions are terribly inefficient. My company, GoReact makes software that is sometimes used for this.Pitch competitions are already designed as screening events. Tech can speed this up a lot.
Ideas for photography competition theme: New beginnings?
Someone who looks like they just got up and are walking away, that is, shot of their back, legs, movement, energetic... with a hint of where they were (chair, house...). (I would personnally go for a cafe sort of setting, nice chairs... and person walking out onto street, quiet inside, busy outside). An open door, dark inside, bright outside, as in, whoever will walk "into the light". A box of smokes in the bin, a diary in the gutter (and again maybe a hint of someone walking away). The back window of a car packed full with belongings. A forlorn young person's room with packed bags near the door. A positive pregnancy test ! An opened cocoon, or some animal's discarded "skin" (sorry I'm French and can't remember how you say when a snake sheds/insect its skin). I'll be thinking and thinking and thinking now...
Where are people getting the idea that competitive programming is very important for a successful professional career? Where is the idea coming from and why is it spreading?
I strongly believe its coming because of following reasons:1) Recruitment Interview Questions : Most of the top companies like Facebook / Google / Palantir hire new grads with strong algorithmic programming skills and most of the competitive programmers are good with algorithmic programming, thus end up having these jobs making others(non competitive programmers) feel they were not qualified enough for that position just because they don't do competitive programming.2) Increasing competitive coding style qualification rounds : With the advent of companies like HackerRank and HackerEarth, which host programming contest to get companies to connect to candidates and shortlist on the basis of performance on the competition. Although, the question asked in the competition may have no relevance to the actual work one may end up doing.3) Gap between real world programming and competitive programming : No matter what we say, I feel (may be my personal experience) that there is great difference between real world programming and competitive programming. Most people who are not good at competitive programming and algorithms although may be brilliant Web Developer end up getting lower paid job than people who have good algorithmic knowledge, this makes them feel that they are wasting their time learning other things except for competitive programming.4) Unawareness : People who are unaware about the field of computer science when enters into it, they hear stories like TopCoder yellow rated programmer got into Google and red got into Facebook, they start to feel like its irrelevant to do real world programming, as that mainly involves Googling, which anyone can do and is no brainy.5) New companies blindly following the trends of big companies : Big companies deal on a very large scale, therefore, they need their code to be optimized on every bit of it therefore hire people which write most optimized code. However, new startups (at least in India, I am unaware of Silicon Valley) are following those trends instead of hiring people who can get the shit done.Although, I personally find it sad that everyone now a days is getting crazy for competitive programming in order to land into fat paying job, forgetting the real beauty of computer science.
