Complete And Balance The Following Reactions Using The Reactivity Series. If No Reaction State

Aluminium is above iron in the reactivity series. Its reaction with water and oxygen seem to indicate that it is less reactive than iron. Why?

Because even though aluminum is more reactive than iron it does not corrode as much as iron. Aluminum reacts with oxygen in the air to form a layer of oxide which protects the aluminum from further oxidation. On the other hand the oxides of iron (rust) tend to fall away, exposing the unreacted iron to further oxidation.

Balance each of the following equations. If no reaction occurs, write noreaction?

First of all, check your reactivity series.

The first equation is wrong, by the way.

2NaOH (aq) + FeBr2 (aq) -> 2NaBr (s) + FeOH2 (aq)
Anytime you have a Halogen (Br) + Alkali Melt (Na) you form a Salt = NaBr (Halogen + Alkali Metal; think of NaCl. Cl is the same column as Br, right?)

BaCl2 (aq) + 2AgNO3 (aq) -> Ba(NO3)2 (s) + 2AgCl (s)
This is confusing. Both products are actually solids; they're powders. Look them up on wikipedia.

Na2CO3 (aq) + COCl2 (aq) -> 2NaCl (s) + 2CO2 (g)

3. Combination

4. Double Replacement
2 HCN (aq) + CuSO4 (aq) → H2SO4 (aq) + Cu(CN)2 (s)

5. Double Replacement- Neutralization (makes salt and water)
3 HNO3 (aq) + Fe(OH)3 (s) → 3 H2O (l) + Fe(NO3)3 (aq)

6. Double Replacement
4 LiBr (aq) + Co(SO3)2(aq) → 2 Li2SO3 (aq)+ CoBr4 (aq)

7. No reaction. Li is more reactive than Ag on the reactivity table. So Li can not replace Cu.
LiNO3 (aq) + Ag (s) → LiNO3 (aq) + Ag (s) [no reaction]

8. Decomposition
H2CO3 (aq) → H2O (l) + CO2 (g)

9. Double Replacement- Neutralization (makes salt and water)
H2SO4 (aq) + 2 NH4OH (aq) → 2 H2O (l) + (NH4)2SO4 (l)

10. Combustion- Hydrocarbon + oxygen -> carbon dioxide and water
C4H8 (aq) + 6 O2 (g) → 4 H2O (l)+ 4 CO2 (g)

The rules that are higher on the list applies before the ones that are lower.
For metals, their states is always solid (with the exception of Hg which is l)
H2O (l) ... CO2 (g)... those are common compounds that should be memorized since it appears quite often.

CHEM balanced, complete ionic, and net ionic equations?

a) Standard equation

Al2(SO4)3 (aq) + 3 Na2CO3 (aq) = Al2(CO3)3 (s) + 3 Na2SO4 (aq)

Total ionic: all carbonates except alkali metal and ammonium carbonates are insoluble so aluminium carbonate is among the insoluble ones and forms no ions.

2 Al3+ (aq) + 3 SO4 2- (aq) + 6 Na+ (aq) + 3 CO3 2- (aq) = Al2(CO3)2 (s) + 6 Na+ (aq) + 3 SO4 2- (aq)

Net ionic equation, cancel out ions which are identical on both sides which leaves:

2 Al3+ (aq) 3 CO3 2- = Al2(CO3)2 (s)

What is the chemical reaction of zinc and copper (II) sulfate?

Explanation -Zinc is more reactive than copper. So, here , on adding zinc to CuSO4 solution,  zinc displaces copper from copper sulphate & forms zinc sulphate solution. This is indicated by colour change from blue to colourless. CuSO4 solution has a blue colour while ZnSO4 solution is colourless. Chemical equation -Zn(s) + CuSO4(aq) -> Cu(s) + ZnSO4 (aq).Type of reaction -It's a displacement reaction.It's a redox reaction. What is the reaction between magnesium and copper sulphate?

The single replacement reaction of Magnesium and Copper Sulfate produce:Mg + CuSO4 → MgSO4 + CuTheoretically, if Magnesium is placed in Copper Sulfate solution, a single replacement reaction occurs. Copper solid is displaced and the magnesium loses electrons to copper ions. This is the case because Magnesium is more reactive than the metal Copper in CuSO4. What is the reaction between copper sulfate and iron?

This is reactivity series…I uploaded this image so that this might help you to remember the series…According to this series the more reactive elements are placed at top then are arranged gradually decrement of reactivity.Therefore as iron lies above copper it will displace copper from copper(II)Sulphate being more reactive…hence the reaction Is….Fe + CuSO4 --------> FeSO4 + CuHope it helps!Thank you!Soumo Saha
