Computer Charger Power Light Error

What do you do if your computer won't turn on after a power outage?

I think you should start with some of the basics that possibly you might not have considered. Is your computer plugged into a surge protector, and if so, does it have a circuit breaker? If so has it been tripped by a surge when the power was cut off or brought back. If the surge protector doesn't have a breaker, has the surge protector "burnt out" by a surge. Reset the breaker or replace the surge protector. It has done its job.Does your computer's power supply have a breaker? Is it tripped? If so reset it.When you attempt to turn the computer on, does the fan on the power supply turn? If it doesn't there's a chance the power supply isn't working and may need replacing. That could be cured by replacing the power supply or replacing the whole case and power supply. If you have the case open and start the computer does the cooling fan on the CPU run? If it doesn't there may be problems with power to the board. You might be looking at replacing the motherboard, CPU, or both.Do the drives run even if the CPU isn't running? The motherboard, CPU, or other important components may have been harmed by surges. If your computer can not be restarted and you can't figure out what has failed. Remember, in truth your computer is not the computer itself but what is on the hard drives. You can take those drives out and place them in another computer... but you might want a tech to do that who knows what they are doing with regards to re-registering the operating system. If your computer has a built in speaker... I know that might be archaic technology, but... computers have something called a POST test. The POST test will play a series of beeps on start-up and the pattern will tell you what has failed. If all is well, that is what produces the beep you hear when starting a computer. When I last had a problem like this... I came home after an extended absence and there had been a substantial spike on the power-lines due to a power-line tower collapsing into the Fraser River. Even though my electronics were Off, and protected by surge protectors the surge got through to the CPU of one of my desktop computers, gateway router, a printer, and a scanner. I cured the computer problem by transplanting the drives into another computer case that had a working motherboard and CPU in it.I am a bit rusty in my computer repair skills, but I hope some of this may help.

What does the orange light on a MacBook charger mean?

What does the orange light on a MacBook charger mean?It means that the self-destruct sequence has been initiated! RUN WHILE YOU CAN!Nah - just kidding, unless it’s also ticking loudly. Then run for it.Normally the orange light just means that it’s charging and that the battery is not yet full. When it’s full, the light turns green. If your charging light stays orange and never turns green, this could indicate a problem with a battery that is unable to hold a charge. An incontinent battery, so to speak. You could try to ask Apple nicely if they can replace it, but they would probably prefer if you spent a crate full of money to buy a new device.

What does the red blinking light on my Ryobi battery charger mean?

Hi Jeremiah, I'm Ken with The Home Depot and work in the hardware department.

The Red Led flashing, if the Green Led is off means the battery pack is either hot or cold.

Your right about the red flashing means that it is in the testing mode. Here is a couple links about the charger. Hope this helps.

Hp compaq 6720s not powering on, amber flashing light -6 times?

Hi, I have an HP compaq 6720s which refuses to start up. The light beside the power socket flashes amber 6times, then blue briefly and then switches off. I have searched high and low and not sure what the problem is or how to fix it.

I have tried taking the battery and ac lead out and holding the power button to drain the power and then switch it on with the ac lead but no result. The whole process takes less than 10 secs so no chance to get into bios as the screen doesn't light or fan start or anything.

The only thing was the power jack was a bit dodgy before, so i have 2 ac adapters and neither make it go, but they must work if the light comes on?

Any help much appreciated, at my wits end!

Thanks,

Allan

My MacBook Pro won't turn on. The light on the charger flashes orange/green. What should I do?

"Flashing Amber and Green" is universal Apple-talk for something ain't right here. With your MagSafe charger doing that, it means something is preventing the charger from doing what it is supposed to do… which could be several things, none of which are going to make you happy.Damaged MagSafe Cable. This is the best-case scenario, as a replacement is around $80. (Yeah, that's the best-case scenario)Damaged MagSafe Interface. The component on the computer that connects to the MagSafe cable could be damaged, and the cable cannot charge the computer which causes the error.Damaged Battery. The battery may be damaged, or outlived its lifespan. Usually, however, the computer can still be powered and run via power supply in that case but the battery just won't hold a charge. Check the charge level with the button that illuminates the LEDs on the computer to show charge level, if your model has them.Damaged Logic Board. Ouch, this one is going to put a dent in your wallet without AppleCare. Your Logic Board (Apple's term for a motherboard) could be fried -- possibly due to a power surge or other anomaly -- and will need to be replaced. There are plenty of other things it could be too. If you're extremely lucky, it's a software or firmware glitch that can be fixed simply by resetting the SMB. Take your computer in to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, and have the, diagnose the issue; make sure you're prepared for bad news, and have the means to pay a few hundred dollars if necessary. If you're like me, and your computer fails while under AppleCare, it'll be an amazing feeling to know its all free. If not… well, I don't wish that feeling upon anyone.

I have a duracell battery charger (NiMH)?

Okay my charger has a red light show up when the batteries are charging. It is supposed to have a green light when when they are fully charged. But I plugged it in for the first time in a few months and it was red but after about 5 mins the red light is blinking. What's going on? Why are they not charging?

Why won't my Macbook Pro charge?

I got my 15 inch Macbook Pro at the end of July, so very recently. For some reason, whenever I play 3D games on it (Portal 2, Sims 3, Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, etc) the light on the charger turns green and near the battery display at the top right of my screen it says (Not Charging).

Also, I've seen some people being skeptical that maybe the games are just taking more power than the chargers can give the computer. I know this isn't the case, because one of my friends has an older, 13 inch Macbook Pro that plays all the same games and his computer charges while he plays the games. He hasn't had the error at all. ):

Laptop won't power up when plugged in, flashing lightning bolt.?

I've got a 20" HP Dragon HDX - I know exactly what you mean about non-portability.

The only thing common about laptop failures within 2 years are bad users, so don't take stock in this being a common occurrence, as it's not. People tend to treat their systems like toasters, and they respond to that treatment in kind. Treat systems right, keep them clean and the vents/fans blown out so dust is at a minimum, and it'll last a long time.

The blinking LED is an error code - the blink pattern/number tells you what the error is. Since you didn't give the specific model number for your Dv4, I couldn't look it up, but here are some steps you need to try before getting to that point:

Perform a hard reset

Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer, not the accessories.

Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds .

Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, and look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.

If that doesn't do it, you'll need to identify the pattern and see what the error code is.

1. Get the Product Number from the bottom of your notebook, then enter it in the field here at this link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/siteH...

2. Once you're at the page for your particular system/configuration, enter "LED Blink Codes" in the Search field and hit Enter.

A 3-blink error is listed on some samples as a memory module error - usually that means you just need to try and reseat your memory cards first. It may be different for your particular system.

If you wind up having to call HP, make sure you have your Product # and the blink pattern handy.
