Computer Starts With Black Screen And Stays

Computer screen stays black?

Unplug then plug back in the VGA cable going from the desktop to the monitor. There may just be a connection problem.
Reboot your computer (press power button DONT HOLD) and when it goes out turn it back on.
If that doesn't help then either the cable is bad, the monitor is bad, or the graphics card is bad. Try a different monitor and cable before replacing the video card.

My computer screen stays black when I start it. My mouse and keyboard still work. After restarting my PC over and over again the monitor settings are in Korean instead of English. What should I do?

After turning the computer on. Turn the monitor off and on again. This works on mine.

My computer beeps when I try to start it. The screen stays black. Is there any way to fix this without getting inside the motherboard?

Open your case and first get the dust out, with a brush or a compressed air can. Then re-connect all your visible wires, if you don’t want to go deep then only some that go to the front( to the power button), CPU, GPU and hard drive.Make sure your fan doesn’t have any dust.If this doesn’t do it, then interchange, or re-attach your ram, or change them if you can(if you have extra). If that doesn’t work, then call a computer guy.PS. If you have never opened an electronic (and closed it back safely), then probably you shouldn’t open it.PS. Click a photo of your wire connections before removing them.PSS*** Turn off the computer before doing anything.

HP Computer Won't Boot, black screen?

The computer is an HP Pavilion a1520n Desktop. When I turn it on, it only shows a black screen and stays that way. It doesn't even show the BIOS screen. I hear no beep. There is no flashing light indicating that it is "thinking." I've tried everything:

Tried other CPU's, memory, PSU's (all of which works on other computers), resetting the BIOS, adding in a video card (originally does not have video card), and even tried a new motherboard of the exact model number - a8n-la - but nothing worked.

I suppose the only thing that I haven't tried is change out the case and use different Front Panel connectors, but would this affect anything at all? I'm all fresh out of ideas. I thought getting a new motherboard would fix it, but it didn't.

And no, it's not the monitor or the VGA cable. The monitor works fine, as it is on right in front of me as I am typing this message.

Gateway GT5628 Power Button Lights Up and Screen Stays Black?

To start with, try unplugging the monitor and then plug it back in. Make sure the screws are tightened - don't just plug it in & leave it without making sure the connection is secure.

Do you have another desktop system you can plug the monitor into? If so, you can do that, turn that system on & see if the screen comes on. If it does not come on, then the monitor is bad and should be replaced.

If it does come on, the problem is with your desktop system. The video card could have gone bad, or something on the mother board could be damaged.

You'll have to eliminate as many possibilities as you can in order to diagnose the problem before you can make corrections. Best course of action if the problem is not the monitor is to take your system to a competent computer repair technician. He or she should be able to get your system back up & running in less time than it would take you.

Good luck - hope this helps.
