Cons Name Me A High Paying Career For Middle Aged Career Changers That Doesn

Teacher vs. nurse career? Pros and cons?

Hi! I'm in high school and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. You might say that I am young and have plenty of time to decide, but that's NOT how our school views it. I need to figure out what I want to do with my life now.

Here's a little about me
So I really want to help people.
I love history, English, math, pyschology
I LOVE KIDS
I'm very caring and I like to help
I want to have a big family and so I really need a job that would be good for a mom
Need good job security
Basically I feel like I would really love to be a teacher but the salary is low and I have no idea what age I want to teach, because I really love little kids but I would also want to make an impact on high schoolers lives.
I'm good at math, so I feel like nursing would be good, but teaching gets me more excited than nursing would.
Nurses make better money than teachers

Can anybody help guide me in the right direction??? My guidance counselor are no help:(

P.s don't say a school nurse cause that's not what I'm going for

Is 30 too old for a career change?

No age is late to start any career. Not even 70 or 80 years also. I tell you the story of most successful food chain in the world after mcdilonald. How it started. At age 5 his Father died.At age 16 he quit school. At age 17 he had already lost four jobs.At age 18 he got married.Between ages 18 and 22, he was a railroad conductor and failed. He joined the army and washed out there. He applied for law school he was rejected. He became an insurance sales man and failed again. At age 19 he became a father. At age 20 his wife left him and took their baby daughter. He became a cook and dishwasher in a small cafe.He failed in an attempt to kidnap his own daughter, and eventually he convinced his wife to return home.At age 65 he retired. On the 1st day of retirement he received a cheque from the Government for $105.He felt that the Government was saying that he couldn’t provide for himself. He decided to commit suicide, it wasn’t worth living anymore; he had failed so much.He sat under a tree writing his will, but instead, he wrote what he would have accomplished with his life.He realised there was much more that he hadn’t done. There was one thing he could do better than anyone he knew. And that was how to cook. So he borrowed $87 against his cheque and bought and fried up some chicken using his recipe, and went door to door to sell them to his neighbours in Kentucky.Remember at age 65 he was ready to commit suicide. But at age 88 Colonel Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Empire was a billionaire.Moral of the story: Attitude. It's never too late to start all over.MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT'S ALL ABOUT YOUR ATTITUDE. NEVER GIVE UP NO MATTER HOW HARD IT GETS. You have what it takes to be successful. Go for it and make a difference. No guts no glory. It's never too old to dream.!!SHARE this. Might motivate someone not to give up!!

Are there any drawbacks in changing me name legally?

Well, use what knowledge you already know, for a small example, filling out any kind of background or social security check, one of the questions asked is "Previous names or alas" other than that, your social security number does not change, so therefore your identity does not change. Your name however does, just as a woman who gets married changes her lastname with a marriage cert and a form, you shall with your first name go through a similar process. And to everyone else you are your new name, even on paperwork, unless asked to provide previous you do not, because to the SSA your new name is on file and legal.

Better career choice? Nurse or Teacher?

Hey!
So i need to decide on what i want to do for the rest of my life... Im freaking out!

Im thinking about being a teacher or a nurse...
I've done some research on this and this is what I came up with,.., Correct me if im wrong though...

So ive learned that nurses get paid more...but have longer hours... Also I learned that college is way harder for nurses...

So my questions are:

Who gets paid more? How much?
College is easier as a nursing student or education?
How many years does college take (not including the general ed) for each?
Is it harder to find a job as a teacher or nurse as of now (2011)

My personality:
I really like working with people... I love kids...so id like to be a pediatric nurse or elem teacher... I always have a smile on my face... like always...for example..when im walking around in a mall... usually most people smile at me or say hello...Most people say i look approachable and nice... I do alright in school mostly Bs but i sort of have a problem with science..

So please tell me anything and everything about those 2 professions...

Thank you so much for the info...

I'm a software engineer in my mid-40s and want to get out of the field because competition has become too extreme. What choices do I have?

Sorry to hear you are feeling burned out! It’s quite common even for those of us below 40. The best advice I ever received was to remember that we live in a completely different age than previous generations and are expected to change career fields at least once or more in our lifetime. Gone are the days of one life, one career. I think it’s awesome!Don’t get me wrong, having deep expertise in a field is absolutely critical to many industries, but at the same time I say life is too short to be miserable. Research your options, make a plan, and then comes the hard part. Take the leap of faith.Competition will always be there. Take academia for example. Becoming a professor sounds great especially when you are passionate about your field. Your thought process might be, if I become an expert in XYZ, I’ll have no competition! But the reality is you are still competing with your cohort and with previous cohorts (Postdocs) for the few tenure-track positions. Competition in academia (non-CS fields) is more fierce than what programmers face in the private sector. However, you can absolutely change careers if you want to. There is no age limit. I think if you can leverage your past experience/skills, it will give you a slight niche/advantage in your next career. For example, I’m currently changing fields to software development coming from a background in the geospatial world and natural sciences. I’ll try to leverage my previous background as much as possible since I already have strong domain knowledge in that area. At the end of the day, it’s your life to live so take everyone else’s opinions with a grain of salt.

What are the pros and cons of being a single woman truckdriver?

I am considering a career change to trucking. My ex husband was a trucker and I would travel with him doing the paperwork, cleaning and helping when he needed it. I truly think it is in my blood. But before I make that decision I want to know some more pros and cons about it.

I love different hours ,, my last job was driving but hours were odd and schedule flexible as they say.

please email me if you have more questions before you can give me a solid answer,, thank you
