How much are Americans taxed percentage wise?
This question isn’t easy to answer.Taxes on alcohol and tobacco, aka “sin taxes” only apply to those who consume those products, and vary between cities and states. Gasoline taxes and sales taxes also vary between states and cities, and impact those who drive more in the west than those who drive less in the northeast. Property taxes vary widely between states. For example New Jersey’s are double those of neighboring Delaware. Some cities like New York and Philadelphia have a city wage tax, others don’t.Americans are also subject to a number of taxes that vary by circumstance: A List Of 97 Taxes Americans Pay Every YearSo not only does it depend on how much you make, it depends on where you live, what you do, and what you consume. In a country of 330 million people with 50 states, half as many territories, and a sizeable expat community (Americans living abroad are still subject to federal income taxes) it’s impossible to answer beyond “more than you think.”
Open Question to all Democrats, what do you consider a rich American to be,?
We need to be clear on this... Democrats do not really want to tax the rich. They want to tax those trying to become rich. Many democrats are themselves rich, but they EARN very little money, much of their wealth being either inherited or invested in tax exempt municipal securities. Thus, they raise taxes at will and suffer not one whit therefrom. So, they have nothing against the rich. In point of fact, they want to be even richer, setting up legislation that puts them into contractual collusion for personal gain at our expense. When other corporations try to legally earn more money, they see it as a threat to their standing at the top of the pile. Liberals want to keep everyone from being better off tomorrow financially than they are today. So, the more you earn, the more they want to steal from you. I am not rich today, but when I retire, I hope to be much richer than I am today. Not everyone is pulling down $400 million per year, but if you are, rest assured they'll call for a "windfall earnings tax", and we'll all feel the pain. Meanwhile, they rake in their tax free earnings and live in opulent splendor. For shame. Thank God for Aaron Burr.
Do you consider yourself a political moderate in that you are neither liberal nor conservative? If so, why?
Bear with me - I feel a rant coming on.Britain has had a mainstream Democratic Socialist party for 117 years and we’ve seen firsthand what bullshit liberalism is. The Labour party was co-opted by liberals in the 90’s who, whilst proclaiming fairness and equality, allowed parasites in the City of London and various other casinoes around the globe to devour our economy without a second thought for anyone else. We’ll file the war crimes under miscellaneous for now.Then came the recession. Years of bankers putting it all on red again and again came back to bite us all in the arse when it turned out they were using our money. Everyone got poorer, even the poorest. It turns out that although everybody is equal and everything is fair, the banks are too special to suffer and we must remedy it by giving them a little bit more to tide them over. Those same motherfuckers who would take your house in a heartbeat were allowed to walk off into the sunset with half a trillion pounds without so much as an apology and get back to record profits.And then along came the conservatives with their age of Austerity. In layman’s terms, it’s a giant car boot sale with schools, hospitals, prisons, anything they can slap a price tag on. In the fifth largest economy in the world, a million people are forced to beg for food from food banks, doctors are forced to work 100 hour weeks and people are forced into virtual slavery with zero hours contracts. All the while, we had a pompous pig fucker telling us that we were all in it together from his lavish second home. Then came his masterstroke.In order to calm the rabid xenophobes on his back benches, he would threaten to leave Europe, get a few goodies from Brussels and be in a lovely position for the next election. He went to Brussels who promptly told him to fuck off as Britain had the best deal in the EU (home to a majority of european institutions, the opt out, kept its own currency etc etc.). So Cameron went to bat for Europe, saying just how amazing the EU is and how much we need it. He was right but nobody wanted to listen to the bellend who caused the mess in the first place. Stupidity won out and he ran away leaving the country in the very capable hands of Darth May, a woman with the brain of an ostrich, the heart of nosferatu and a face like an elephant’s knee.And that is why I am neither liberal or conservative.
How do politically moderate and third party Americans feel about the increasing polarization between the liberal and conservative spectrum?
The source of the stark political divide is perfectly clear to anyone who samples both Liberal and Conservative media: We have two media systems that paint two starkly different pictures of reality! There is the problem! If only we could get every Liberal to view Conservative media, and vice-versa, the problem would disappear! No?Well you see the situation is not completely symmetrical. Most Conservatives are reformed Liberals, so we know how they think, we were there once ourselves. But Liberals not only don’t understand Conservatism, they believe FALSEHOODS about it that are promoted by their media! On the Conservative channels they invite Liberals to the debate because we want to hear what they have to say. On the Liberal channels they consistently mis-represent the Conservative view - we are all a basket of deplorables, racists, sexists, homophobes… . We love the rich and hate the poor, toss Grandma over the cliff! That is NOT who we are. Those are shameful STEREOTYPES every bit as disgusting and unfair as the racial stereotypes of minorities.What changed this last election was that now everybody has woken up to the fact that the MainStream Media and the Democrat Party lie and misrepresent all the time. It is what they do! They don’t even try to tell the truth, everything is partisan. Country be damned! Party must win no matter how!As soon as we all wake up to this reality, the MainStream Media will be shamed into reporting the TRUTH for a change, and the divide will magically disappear. Right?Wrong! They don’t WANT it to disappear! The media and their political allies LIVE off that lie like parasites. Why is the poverty rate in America increasing?
Why is the poverty rate increasing? Are the rich providing jobs, as Republicans claimed they would when they continually give them tax break after tax break? I once believed republicans when they said that they would create more jobs by giving the rich tax breaks, but since they started saying that back in 1981, I have not seen any correlation between a change in unemployment and the top tax rate. However, I have seen a correlation between the top tax rate and our national debt, as well as a correlation between the top tax rate and the wealth of the richest. QUESTION: I guess the real question is, why are the rich getting richer, while the poor are getting poorer? Why is poverty so abundant in the USA, when we have all these rich people demanding more money?
Why do conservatives act like all democrats are nothing but welfare leeches?
The truth is that both parties are controlled by special interest groups so they both receive money from big companies. But conservatives think that every single democrat is a welfare leech. How would the democratic party exist if no one was funding it? Bill gates and Warren Buffett are both democrats and donated to Obama's campaign. Me and my friends have jobs and we voted for Obama. I don't know many people who are unemployed. So how can someone be so ignorant to say everyone who votes democrat is unemployed and taking money from others? It is like saying every republican is rich.
