Conspiracy In The Lone Star State

Are the dumbest conspiracy theories (like flat earth, hollow earth, moon hoax, reptilians, etc.) created to discredit conspiracy theories in general?

They couldn’t. It’s just too difficult. It’s hard to say what makes a conspiracy theory catch on. You hear about the successful conspiracy theories, but there are thousands more that you’ve never heard of. Just some lone nutter, hoping to find an audience.I have no idea what makes Flat Earthers and Truthers and Lizard People catch on, while the guy out in front of the Circle K insisting that his dog has been replaced by a cat surgically altered to look exactly like his dog rants all by himself. I’m sure that more than one sociology paper has been written on it, and there are probably some properties you could identify to make a conspiracy theory more likely than others. But in the end, nobody knows what’s going to hit. It’s a bit like pop stars or TV stars: record companies and film studios are always looking for It, and can usually tell when you don’t have It, but sometimes they’ll spend a whole lot of money trying to convince you to spend a few bucks on it and people just shrug.Of course, the studios and the labels just keep trying… but everybody knows they’re doing it. If somebody were spending money all over the place trying to get their conspiracy theory to catch on, to cover up the real conspiracy, they’re gonna get caught at it.That’s a key test of a conspiracy theory: is it reasonable that a conspiracy could be so vast as to achieve the accomplishments they put to it… and simultaneously not quite so careful that Some Lone Nut Job managed to figure it out? You can’t prove that it isn’t possible, but is it worth your trouble to give it serious consideration, given the vast number of other things you could spend your time on?A government may not be above taking advantage of existing conspiracy theories, egging them on. But making it up from from scratch? Too much work.

Why is Texas known as the Lone Star state?

Here's one theory, which I found on the website of TXU Energy:  Texas - The Lone Star State - How Texas Got its NameWay back when, Texas was a province of Mexico. The land that would one day become the current state of Texas encompassed two different areas and was called Coahuila y Tejas. It's thought that the original flag for this land bore two gold stars in the middle of the red, green and white stripes of the Mexican flag. From 1835 to 1836, Texas fought to gain independence from Mexico, and the resulting victory meant a new flag for the newly independent Republic of Texas — the lone star, clearly labeled, "Texas" made its first appearance. This flag, and subsequent variations of it, all featured a lone star, representing defiance, pride and — most importantly — independence. The current Texas flag still features the single star, as does the State Seal of Texas.

What kind of a monumental piece of crud gets banned from 2 state funerals and a royal wedding?

- an unstable and delusional one....that kind. On the same day that people are honoring McCain's life, Trump was playing "down, up, down" with the American flag. He also took the time and effort to tweet out his approval rating of being 52% which is actually his disapproval rating.

This kind of high-profile rejection is unprecedented for a sitting POTUS.

Does Trump intentionally make racially controversial remarks to exacerbate racial tensions in the United States?

A few examples:

1) In 1973, Trump and his company Trump Management were sued by the U.S. Department of Justice for housing discrimination against black renters—a lawsuit which, according to Trump, he settled without an admission of guilt.

2) In 2011, Trump became the leading proponent of the already discredited "Birtherism" conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama was not born in the US, and he repeated the claim for the following five years.

3) Trump was accused of racism for maintaining, as late as 2016, that a group of black and Latino teenagers were guilty of raping a white woman in the Central Park jogger case, although an imprisoned serial rapist had confessed in 2002 to raping the jogger alone, and DNA evidence confirmed his guilt.

4) Trump launched his 2016 presidential campaign with a speech where he stated of illegal Mexican immigrants: "They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

5) Trump has tweeted fake statistics claiming that African Americans are responsible for the majority of murders of whites, and in some speeches he linked African-Americans and Hispanics with violent crime.

6) During an Oval Office meeting about immigration reform, Trump referred to El Salvador, Haiti, and African nations as "shitholes."

Are statements like these part of Trump's intentional plan to create racial anxiety?

What does "the Deep State" mean?

It means "imaginary secret organization created to make Trump look bad".
