Constant Stuffy Nose/sinus Pressure

I have a stuffy nose and painful, pressure filled sinuses after quitting smoking. Is this normal? Are there any foods or natural remedies to help with this?

Congratulations, great choice of life !Your description match with the early indication of sinusitis. In eary stages sinusitis steam bath and massages can easy the pressure and help to decongest. To evaluate the level of congestion press these points in your face with your fingers:behind the bone of the middle of the eyebrowon the sides at the top of the nasal boneon the sides of the nose at the edge of the maxilar boneIf any of them hurts when you pressure is because their are swollen. Swollen because of accumulated secretions. If it hurts you should see a general doctor or better a otolaryngologist (it may need and x ray of your face, descongestants and if there is infection an antibiotic).Meanwhile to relieve symptoms: drink plenty of water, massage the congested sinus in circular movements, have a steam bath. This is how to massage your faceGood luck!

How do I relieve sinus pressure?

Very astute! Course you've been living with this for a while. I worked for about 8½ years for an ENT guy and it's pretty common to see all these symptoms together. If you want to feel snooty, you can call the a constellation of symptoms.

The pain you're feelig is indeed in your sinuses. The ones no one ever thinks of, the ethmoids. They are narrow sinuses that go along the sides of your nose up to the edges of your eyes. They're just about 1½" long. Enough anatomy? Okay:

I'm going to tell you how to do a procedure called a valsalva manuver. It's fairly simple and should improve all your symptoms at once.

Go to the drug or grocery store and buy a bottle of nasal spray that has as its main ingredient Oxymetazoline 0.05%. The most popular brand is Afrin, but most stores have their own brand that costs less.
Spray both sides of your nose and wait about 5 minutes, then blow your nose like you would to clean it.
Hold your nose closed with your fingers and force air against your fingers. This should cause your ears to "pop". If you can't get them to pop right away wait about 5 minutes and try again. You can pop your ears as many times as you want during the day, but you can only use the spray 2 times a day.

What you're doing is forcing an air bubble and the tiniest bit of decongestant into your eustachian tubes that have become swollen and closed due to the drainage down your throat.

The nose spray should clear up the stuffiness in your nose, open those ethmoid sinuses and help with the plugged up ears. It's a miracle!!

You may take mucinex for the drainage. It doesn't stop it, it thins it so it's not so likely to get stuck in your sinuses or clog your nose and throat. The main ingredient in mucinex is guyafsen which occurs naturally in pineapple, so it's completely safe. I don't ever recommend a decongestant unless your doctor prescribes it as they thicken the mucus and may really block sinuses and ears.

I hope this helps, you should feel significantly better pretty quick. Take good care, okay?

Clicking noise in head, headache, dizziness, and stuffy nose. Sinuses?

I have no idea if what I've been experiencing may be sinus related because I always have had bad allergies. I mean I really think my headaches, dizziness, constant pressure in forehead and nasal area as well as clicking noise in head is sinus related. What can I do aside take sinus relief medication?

Constant ringing in ears since last night. head cold as cause?

Ive had a cold/flu for the past several days including mucus in throat/congestion, running stuffed nose, sinus pressure, ears feeling blocked, i guess a head cold, etc. well my cold is improving but since last night after i got out of the shower i noticed annoying ringing in my ears that i can hear even over other background noises. its pretty much constant and its freaking me out a little bit. i dont want to lose my hearing! i havent been exposed to really loud noises recently or anything. i took a few tablets of ibuprofen recently and some nasal decongestents and cough syrup, could that cause it. or is it just a temporary productt of having a head cold? idk bc i have had head colds before and never with ringing. its so distracting, i can t think of anything else except the ringing in my head. arggh.

Can you have sinusitis without a runny nose, congestion or a blockage?

Extremely unlikely, since in most it starts with swelling of the inner lining of the nose, impeding the drainage of the sinuses. But rarely in some a dental absces breaking into the sinus can cause a sinusitis can cause sinusitis.

Could my wisdom teeth be causing my horrible sinus pressure?

There are two primary route causes for sinus problems, the small intestine & your teeth. The roots of your teeth extend up near the sinus cavity. Doctors & dentists do not ever talk. The biggest problem is that so called "Modern dentistry" is not very good and dentists create lots of health problems for people that become chronic in many cases and even many cancers are a result of bad dentistry. The aniline chemicals they use to deaden the nerves like lidocaine, procaine, carbocaine, novocaine, etc. all create what is called aniline homologs. This is what causes cancer. To give you a perspective on this, just one shot of one of these aniline chemicals of 2 cc per shot (typical) will give you the equivalent of poison as if you smoked a pack of cigarettes each day for 12.9 years! It is cummulative and stays in your connective tissues. The only aniline chemical that does not do this is Septocaine.

Since many of the roots of your teeth extend close to your sinus cavities, any bacteria or infection in any of those roots can greatly affect your sinuses and become chronic! If your wisdom teeth are infected, yes, this could cause a lot of sinus problems. If you have ANY root canals in your upper teeth, especially, most of them are done very poorly using things like gutta percha this is a soft latex material to fill the canal. That does not fill all the canals and bacteria breed and get into the jaw bone through the root ligament from the root tip. There is no pain from this as your jaw bone deteriorates, so you never know it's happening. But when you get a sinus infection, you don't see your dentist about this typically and even if you did, he's not trained to recognize NICO on his dental x-rays.

good luck to you

What causes sinusitis? Is there any relationship between sinusitis and blood pressure?

The term ‘sinuses’ refers to the paranasal sinuses, which are air-filled cavities lined by the mucous membrane. They are located in and around the nose. The basic function of these sinuses is to moisten the nasal cavity, and warm inhaled air. Infection and inflammation of the paranasal sinuses is termed as sinusitis. It is classified as infectious and non-infectious. The former is caused by infection of the sinuses, whereas allergies and environmental irritants cause non-infectious sinusitis. Signs and symptoms of sinus infectionThe symptoms of short-term infection differ slightly from the chronic one. The warning signs depend on the type of sinus that is affected. Swelling of the paranasal sinuses causes excess secretion of mucus, which blocks the nasal passages. This results in congestion, stuffiness, and other symptoms. Following are some of the common signs and symptoms of sinus infection which can be observed in acute and chronic conditions.Acute Sinusitis SymptomsNasal congestionThick, yellow or greenish nasal dischargeSinus pain or facial painSinus pressure or facial pressureMild to severe headachePostnasal dripRunning high temperatureVision disturbancesLoss of smellCough or congestionTender cheekbonePain gets worse when lying down or bending forwardTo read the above complete article click on the link : Sinus Infection (Sinusitis): Symptoms, causes and treatment of Sinus infectionSource : LazoiWebsite
