I'm going to get a Male German Shepherd dog, he will be mostly black with tan markings, i need a vicious fiesty name as the dog i am getting will be used for security purposes. How did the German Shepherd get its name?
German Shepherds were used by the Germans in the First World War and inevitably some were captured and taken back to England. Calling the dog by it’s correct breed name would have caused bad feelings towards the dogs so it was agreed that because the dogs originated from the Alsace region of France they would be called Alsations. These dogs proved themselves over and over again to be excellent working dogs and equally excellent pets. In 1977 the name was changed back to German Shepherd Dog. In my opinion, providing you get a well bred dog with a sound temperament and equally sound genetics, you can’t beat a GSD for brains, beauty, intelligence, loyalty and companionship. I haven’t been without one since the early 70’s when I was old enough to get my first one.

I like the name Ranjha for german shepards. It's out of "Top Dog" a book by Partap Sharma, which was based on a real german shepard who solved crimes. Out of your answers, I have to admit Falcon and Danger are pretty original and awesome sounding. Personally I think Casanova and Calyspell, etc, are too long - you'd be forced to shorten them if you wanted the dogs to respond. Great name list though! And good luck.

Ok, I'm a little particular when it comes to picking out my dogs names and usually will give them normalish people sounding names. Example the dogs in my house are named Ari, Jasmine, Rosie, Lacey, Zoey, Kyrie, Pippa, Coco, Chica, Luna. I have 9 females and 1 male.But in this case with a cat buddy named Monster, I think Cookie would be perfect. I really love the name. I might even use it on our next adoption, when ever that is.Years ago we had bought an American Cocker Spaniel pup and named her Tawnee, she turned into a terror! Ate shoes to the point of beyond recognition, got about 13 pairs of my cheap sunglasses, ate 2 lazy boy chairs. We started calling her Tawnee Monster.
