What are some of the best voice warm up techniques for voice acting?

Great answers here already, especially the detailed one from Stephanie Ciccarelli.Flavour of the month exercises are SOVT (semi-occluded vocal tract) ones, which are all the trills (lip, tongue trills etc. These have been scientifically demonstrated to provide a safe, healthy environment within the oral tract that allows the vocal folds to be worked throughout their length - i.e. you get a good stretch and contraction of the relevant muscles, hence building muscle tone within the larynx.HOWEVER!As Stephanie says, your Body is your instrument, so don’t do any vocal exercise in isolation, slumped in a chair, or putting all of your attention towards your larynx. It will attempt to work much harder than necessary, using the extrinsic muscles and you won’t get the benefit from the intrinsic muscles that work autonomously, if you let them.So at the very least, stand with good posture, soft ankles, soft knees, soft pelvis, soft jaw to do your vocal warmup. Or, if you need to be sitting, pay attention to your spinal column, let it flow upwards into your skull and let your head float free (metaphorically speaking). For those who think they are getting away with no vocal warmups, good luck with that over time. Some people are stronger and more flexible naturally than other people, so they don’t feel the need to work at it. Just imagine Usain Bolt trying to run the 100 metres without first warming up his muscles… Or anyone trying to run a marathon without even a basic warmup. Voices function through muscular activity, and you need to look after those muscles, especially if you desire a long term career.Incidentally, the important hydrating drink is the one you had two days ago. The one you have an hour before the show makes you feel better, but isn’t actually affecting your vocal folds. So drink water reasonably every day.I too have a warmup App in the app store. Search for “Being in Voice”.
