Why are my outer corners of my lips dark?
ok this might sound gross, but i had the same thing, but i tried peppermint foot scrub on my face as and exfoliant and it helped

I would advise that you go and see a Dermalogist, as this can be cause by drooling in your sleep. Dark skin is normally connected with inflammation of the skin causing increased pigmentation. Treatment is with prescription bleaching creams like Lustra or Tri-Luma or Epiquin which you can have written at your dermatologist. Inflammation at the corners of the mouth is do to increased moisture at the corners of the mouth usually at night. There is a prescription topical medication called Mycolog II that you use twice a day to help control the inflammation.

Hi! i'm oriental and about 3 years ago i had cold sores and there was a teeny scar left, hardly even noticeable. My parents, however =.=, kept making fun of me, so i got onto the net and researched ways in which i can get rid of them. i encountered a method which consisted of crushed garlic wrapped in a tea towel and then you would apply it to the affected area. i woke up the next morning with the largest scab (the size of a 5 pence coin) and when that disappeared i didnt get any more cold sores but the brown patches continued to spread and every now and then it would flare up bright red. ive tried EVERYTHING bio oil, meladerm, lemon juice (ive given up using natural methods) etc, etc. Im 15 and this is the age where we are/were most self conscious ! help!!!! im 15, and ofc this the age where we are most self conscious!

Do you smoke? Are you taking hormonal drugs, supplements, herbs (example: breast enhancing pills, steroid, oral conrtraception, etc)? Some hormones can cause hyperpigmentation. Stop taking them, and see whether the dark spots getting lighter. Did you eat something different before the dark spots develop? My son & i will get dark spot/marks if we eat certain kinds of glutten, it takes weeks to fade. If you have the same problem, just avoid the food. You need to find the cause in order to cure it. Or just hide it using make up (concealer & lipstick will do wonders). Hope it helps. MGBU

Almost symmetrical dark spots on both corners of mouth appeared recently?
i'm african american (this matters). i recently noticed that i have a line of dark spots almost under the left and right sides of my bottom lip. i noticed maybe a week ago that i had a bad itch on the left side and was scratching it. it probably happened on the right side, too and i just didn't notice it. i'm really freaked out, mainly out of vanity. so, any idea what it may be? will the spots go away? are they scars? can they be 'faded away' with some type of fade cream? also, i recently gained weight, so i'm hoping that's the only cause. it actually looks like an outline of my bottom lip, like my skin has stretched because of the weight. maybe my skin stretching caused the itching? also, my skin has been really dry lately, because of the weather. please help. thanks.
