Cot Of Ticket For Failure To Stop At A Stop Sign In Lahabra Ca.

What do you think about the 3 strikes law?

We studied in crim law that punishment has several goals: rehabilitation, deterrence, retribution, and incapcitation. The 3 strikes rule is meant to incapacitate people. The idea is that after 3 felonies, the state of CA doesn't want those criminals committing any more crimes, so they put them away for good. I believe that a balance between each goal is good. The victim wants justice and so wants a sentence that is proportional to the crime at least (retribution). We want others to be deterred from committing the crime and the person who is committing the crime as well (general and specific deterrence). We want to rehabilitate the person so they don't do any more crimes by forcing them to get a job and check in with a parole officer while on parole (rehabilitation). Finally, we want to remove criminals from society if they cannot be stopped.

If the criminal keeps on committing crimes and violates their parol, what can we do? You can't rehabilitate people who don't want help. As someone who tutors high school kids in the inner city who later go to college, I don't see any legitimate excuse for committing crime after crime and running with gangs.

The question is whether the 3 strikes rule has benefited society. If you find that crime has gone down since it started and the extra costs to tax payers is worth it, then you can't argue against it. If on the other hand, the statistics show otherwise, then it is a failure.

Policy makers weigh the costs associated with crime against the costs associated with the judicial system

Failed Stop for School Bus!?

Okay so I just feel like the worst person right now. It is completely out of my nature to do something like this.

So I was driving and there was this school bus that had its lights flashing. I'm not sure how long it was flashing for but the cars in front of me were not stopping. The Stop sign on the bus was not out so I assumed thats the reason why everyone else was not stopping. On the other side of the bus, there was a cop and he pulled me over for not stopping. I know that it was my fault for misunderstanding that violation.
So I believe I was located either in La Habra, Ca or Fullerton, Ca, and I was wondering what the price of the ticket wouldbe. I did some research and found out that I could ask the judge to remove the penalty assessments to reduce the price alot. Also, this is my first ticket so I was wondering if there might be some what of a leeway but I completely understand if there isn't.

Another thing I was wondering about the process was what to do. I got the ticket today and was hoping to go to court tomorrow to deal with the ticket. I'm hoping to talk to the judge to reduce the price of the ticket. After, I believe I go to traffic school so that I don't get the point on my license. Does this mean that If I attend traffic school, then my insurance would not go up?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I feel really bad about this ticket and I never had any intention of hurting anyone. Thank you

Can I get arrested for not listening to a police officer? When what i'm doing is not against the law?

Today I was trying to get my lost bird off a high tree. I was using a 25 foot metal pool. The reason it got the cops attention was because the branch was on main street and I was on the side of the road.

Now the pool was really close to the bird to almost succeed in what I wanted to do. But while I had it up there a cop comes over and after being there a bit in front of him I try to use my pool again.

Cop comes over and says to stop that and to put the pool down.
I didn't do what he told me so he threaten me saying "do you want to get arrested?"
I told him "This isn't against the law what I'm doing." "On what charge do you have to arrest me"
The police officer answered "For not listening to an officer"
I looked at him as if expressing (yeah right) and I responded, "Here are only so many things you can tell me do"
Well, I lowered my pool and we not able to get the bird back yet. The fire department never even tried just came and left saying its too close to the telephone wires(35 feet)

The police told me that It was dangerous because there was a chance that i could hit the wires even thought I told him there were branches in way from me to do that.

I've helped a college student with her homework when wanting to become a cop I know they have more rules to follow then I do to keep them in line. So I'm sure there guild lines to his statement.

Was it right for him threaten me with that question?

I have witnessed moments leading up to suicides. Typically the person will give a desperate plea for help. I don't think anyone really wants to do it. So they desperately seek out someone to talk them through it. Someone that you know might be trying to give you hints. They usually do not want to be a burden, so will not insist too hard for attention. And will typically just think that you don't care anyways. I won't say where I have witnessed so many suicides. Well moments before. But yeah, they typically just seek someone to be there for them to perhaps change their mind. The advice I would give people. Just listen. Often those same people that you think are jerks, are just scared. They are often very fragile people on the inside. They will put on a hard shell so that they are not seen as the vulnerable creatures that they are. When they are mean to you, all they are really doing in their mind is just preventing you from getting close. Because getting close can mean getting attached, and possibly suffering the pain of losing you. From the fucked up shit that I have seen, typically the people that appear as jerks, really just hate themselves. They are carrying old baggage. Not really sure where I was going with this. But I hope I was at least in context before I went off topic. The point is to just have an open heart. You have no idea how many lives you can save by smiling at someone. I myself almost killed myself in 2011. But a kind lady happened to smile at me at AA and we talked for a bit. Made me reconsider everything.
