Could 100 Billion $ Eradicate World Hunger

How can we end world hunger?

I used to live in one of the poorest countries in the world, but I have never experenced what it is to live in hunger. I know, I would be able to answer this question better if I would expereince hunger first hand. My dad expereinced famine first hand, and he would always scold at us (family of ten) for not finishing the bread when we ate. Each time we had some left overs, he would take them and give them to the animals in the park. If we could do as litlle as give away left overs to the poor, we would be able to stop the world hunger.

Instead of spending the money on pleasures and foolish desires we should open our healing hands to our brothers and sisters who are starving. I remember well my mothers hands that pulled me from the impossible sittuations, and I know the ones who are in need will remember our hands.

Thanks for your question, I believe it is the first step we do before we do some actions.

Bill gates can end world hunger and save billions of lives?

There are 8 billion people in this world. Bill gates has 72 billion dollars. Why doesn't he donate some of his money and end world hunger permanently? He can still keep a couple billion. All of these billionaires don't care about the billions of people of fellow human beings dying with no food? Or is that what they want so the earth isn't overpopulated?

Would you rather have world peace forever or end world hunger for 1 year?

Let’s look at data.Armed conflict are on the decline. In the past they were a huge problem, but during the last 50 years they have felt to a very low level, making the 20th century (and its 2 world war), the most peaceful century in the entire mankind history (in terms of proportion of people killed in armed conflict).Yes, that is counter-intuitive, but two world wars were not enough for making the 20th century more bloody than the 19th.Today, less than 0.5% of the humans die killed by an human (compared to the 20% to 50% reached in the tribal pre-state times, that is really great). Each year, around 100 000 humans are killed in an armed conflict.World hunger is also decreasing VERY fast. But it is not solved yet.Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five (3.1 million children each year).During the last decade, each year, more than 20 million humans died of hunger or diseases due to deficiencies in nutrients. So world hunger is causing at least 200 times more death pear year than war.But we are talking about solving world hunger for one year only, compared to solving armed conflict FOREVER.World hunger will be solved. Mankind is producing more and more food each year (already enough food for feeding 10 billions). The main obstacle to the end of world hunger is precisely wars.War is chaotic. War cause hunger, poverty and random destruction. A nuclear conflict could annihilate billions in a few days.So I will chose world peace forever. It is a better choice on the long-run.

If food can be created in labs, will it put an end to world hunger?

Assume a lab can create 100 pounds of food a day. There are more than 7 billion people in the world. That means that we each get 1.4285714285714285714285714285714e-8 pounds of food, or about .0000001429 pounds of food a day. Try to create a crumb that small. So we’d need about 2e8, or 200,000,000 labs working 7 days a week producing food. Just producing food. At about 100 people per lab, that’s about 20 billion people … oops, it would take more people to produce the food than the food could feed.Houston, I think we have a problem.

World Hunger and Food Security?

World hunger is caused by liberal despots who steal the food from the foreign aid they beg off the industrialized countries and use it as currency to buy more things for themselves.

Communist agitators will speciously tell you that all that aid is refused because it supposedly comes with strings attached. The fact is that most of it comes from Christian charities and not the governmental authorities, so these leftist assertions are pure, unmitigated hogwash.

World security is a myth invented to help shoehorn in a global government, and one which the aforementioned communist agitators will gladly tie in to the world hunger caused by their fellow communists.

Mr. M has a valid point except that foods grown with natural fertilizer (such as that found in 0bama's teleprompter) have a much higher vitamin and mineral content and are more efficient at assuaging hunger without producing obesity. Petro-chemically fertilized crops are more expensive to grow and yet distribute the same amount of minerals and vitamin-constructing material over a vastly larger crop yield without replenishing the soil's stores of those materials.

How much would it cost to end world hunger?

You could probably end world hunger with all the money that has been wasted on the global warming scam.

What's the best way $100 billion could be used to help the world's poor?

Make a lottery to give away 100x $1 billion at $1 a coupon, and use the rest of the entry money to make a new and similar lottery - the assumption being that there will be more money in the pool after each lottery. Do it in total of 10 times. Any of the winners, who will donate 9/10 of their winnings to the pool, will be part of a planet council, which decides what to use the funding for, together with represenatives for UN and NGO's from all over, winners and professionals 1:1. Ideas: discover free energy, a food printer using bio-material, make e-learning available for all, buy up all the world's forests and give them to humanity, make campaigns to build pride in being a conscious planet, fund research into building a global understanding of the similarities between consciousness in individual species environments, etc. - i.e. promote empathy and work for globality for the entirety of life on the planet.$100 billion cannot feed the hungry of the world. Only empathy can.

If bill gates is so rich, and does so much, why is there still hunger in the world?

First off Bill Gates is not that rich, I have heard estimates from Forbes for 49 Billion US dollar, with a high of 100 Billion. The world economy is about 107 trillion dollars (Gross world product). So kind of a drop in the ocean, the Catholic church would also be a larger charitable organisation than the gates foundation on that math. That aside, Most of the worlds starving are in terrible parts of the world, for example when people try to give aid to Somalia, rebels seize the food and re sell it back to the people at a profit. Examples like this play out all across the world, we have the ability to feed people, but no one has the ability to tele-port food to the people who need it. The world is also better fed today than in any point in human history, arguably more people die from obesity that starvation. (Obesity killing three times as many as malnutrition)Your question may have come from this article: Bill Gates Could End World Hunger, Instead Gives $36 Billion To Corporate America. The Gates foundation does make numerous investments in a wide range of things some, this is something all large charities do, they generally lack the ability to spend all the funds spontaneously so invest as per the need and cash flow demands of the organisation. I don't think this is a negative and further more the binding constraint of Gates foundation is that all the money should be spent by the time Bill gates dies, so these investments in blue chip stock are not that long term. There current goal is to end hunger through the use of GMO's by 2030. They have a good strategy, there going to try to boost poor farmers output such that they make a greater return and are better able to afford a healthy life. Most of the people starving would be poor children who may not have access to health care and suffer from disease that prevents them from gaining enough nutrition. This has disastrous long term effects (Bill gates has a you tube channel were he speaks about this a bit more),(Nutrition)This is a realistic goal based on the resources and capabilities of Bill Gates, it would increase output and raise the income of poor subsistence farmers and communities at risk of starvation.

Can you propose 2 solutions to help end world hunger/starvation?

There is more than enough food to end starvation in the world. The reason people go hungry is because they don't have enough money to pay for it. Here are a few realworld solutions:
1. Developed countries (like America) should share as much food, production technology, water and land resources with third world or developing countries.
2. Promote economic development of developing nations to allow its residents to begin earning more money in order to buy more food. Education, healthcare and a better standard of living improve economic growth and reduces the strain on food supply.
3. End U.S. subsidies on crops that are traded globally like wheat and corn, because the subsidies depress global prices. That in turn keeps the income of farmers in developing countries dangerously low, even putting them out of business. Poorer nations make a good arguement that advanced nations are purposely preventing the creation of a level playing field in this area.
4. Economic advanced nations could increase funding assistance to global assistance programs which provide food, water and aid to developing nations.
5. Eat less meat, it takes more grain to feed a cow for instance than it does a person, so eating meat puts undue strain on the world food supply.
6. Contribute to aid programs, local churches, CARE or Salvation Army, or other hunger relief programs.
I hope this helped, its a start at least.

How would you go about trying to bring an end to world hunger if you had $250B USD?

I will invest $200 billion in different investments schemes which gives decent returns. With balance $50 billion…I will start a non profit organization. I will have offices and warehouses in developed countries. I will buy ships and aeroplanes for transportation.I will make tie ups with super markets in developed countries and collect their near expiring foods for free (if they are ready to give) or for some small price. I will give those to poors. This is just a temporary thing, the main thing is educating them for decent job or start a business. With the interest i receive from $200 billion investment, i will…I will encourage agriculture in their area which in turn gives food.I will hire teachers (preferably volunteers) and provide education for poors.I will support those who like to start small business by finance and education. Entrepreneurship is the key.I will make sure they don’t end up eating free food rest of their lives.
