How can I learn to write grammatically correct English? What are some books or video lectures that will help me improve?

It was very good, and you could turn this into a really good story. Your grammar and punctuation were good. Could you email me the rest of this? If you click on my name, there is a choice to 'email moonjoone'. I think you should narrow down the colors 'amethyst-purple' and 'crystal blue/green' to more specific colors, like dark lavender and cerulean (or just crystal blue, since aside from crayons, you never see that color mentioned). Maybe instead of putting parenthetical meanings beside all of the 'mermaid' words, you could put a sort of glossary at the end. Are you planning on making this a short story, or a novel? If it's going to be a book, you might not want to use the name Ariel, because you could technically get into copyright issues with Disney over that. You could just change the name, and it will have close to the same effect.

Can I still be a writer?Of course you can be a writer and a professional writer!If you’re bad enough you might even make Editor!I stopped taking the local newspaper decades ago when it became evident that the best and brightest left the print trade because those the papers hired and retained those who wrote below the 7th grade level. If you took a hard look at most Newspapers, and now, even the text on news websites, it’s evident that political affiliation and political correctness matters more than grammar or even competent thought.For fun, take a red pen and get a copy of a newspaper when drinking coffee and start marking the errors. There is likely going to be so much red on the paper it looks like it wrapped fresh meat that wasn’t properly bled. This is a huge confidence builder because if those people are professional writers, then anyone who can spout the party line can become one too.Sadly, I watched as it went from using the NYT to teach students how to write, to the NYT being used for humor on how a poor writer could make a living.
Do you ever read long replies?
Hi, I don't like reading long replies. but if the subject is of great interest then I do read them. Sometimes I write long replies, and used to be too lazy to make it interesting, now though, I have found a few things that help when what I have to say is long. First of all, you must separate like as you see here, (you can also number your points that is very interesting as well) so that a person who is scanning can quickly see the different points you make. (and it is not lumped in one mass of words) Make sure that you don't repeat yourself, that is annoying. Read your reply, and make sure it makes good sense. Usually when I read my replies, I find all kinds of ways to shorten it, or change it to more precise and enjoyable language. Use proper grammar. Avoid run on sentences. Better to break them up for more easily digestible pieces of info. Abbreviation and slang is ok, if that's the mood your looking for, but you still have to make it understandable. - I edit my replies till I like how they sound to me. :-)
Do you have to be academically smart to became a writer?
I'm in school at the moment and I am terrible at maths, business and french. Also sometimes with spelling I amen't the best. I was wondering if this lack in academics stop me from becoming a writer? I have wrote a lot of short stories which my friends and family friends are very happy and surprised over when they read them, but I am not sure whether they are only saying it.
