High school kicker pads?

Obviously you're going to have to wear shoulders pads and a helmet... linemen in the NFL sometimes don't even wear knees pads and thigh pads.Honestly you're a kicker, so if it's not comfortable to wear thigh/hip/knee pads then don't wear them. You're not going to do any hitting anyways.

What can I do as a freshman in high school to be a kicker on the football team?

You are a freshman, find a kicker that is going to be a senior or so to get some tips. Get together to practice as you will “fetch”. Let him practice field goals, you fetch. Then you get out the kickoff tees and “Play catch” kicking to each other. In my experience, there are alot of kids who grew up playing soccer but few practice for years with a football. Technique is important. Also learn to punt.Sometimes it ends up where the coach says “who thinks they can kick, and everybody from little receivers to big lineman give it a try. The big leg on strength sometimes gets the nod. You are best to see the coach well before this happens, say come spring time before you release for break.Ask the coach if he knows of any camps or videos on kicking that you could watch. Then tell him you want to make up for any lost leg strength with technique and consistency.A coach may use the big leg lineman on kickoffs while wanting field goal accuracy from the 20 yard line in.Kicking is alot like golf, the best leg swing with technique gets it done.

Can you get hurt playing kicker for high school freshman team?

Yes, there is a chance that you can get hurt playing as a kicker for your high school freshman football team. Also, it is possible for a kicker to get tackled.

However, the best way for you to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch kicker in high school football, as well as greatly reduce your chances of getting injured.

What is about the average kicking distance for high school punters and kickers?

I would like to know what you all think or know because I want to tryout for kicker in about a year and half for my senior year. Im 16 and only 5'7 120 lbs buy I'd really like to play football by then. My longest FG was only 26 yards and punt 30 yards but that was about 4 months ago and I've been doing alot more workouts, kicking and streches since and can tell I've improved a little (and kicking cleats would help). I would just like to know what the average distance is for punts and kicks is in HS. Also any workouts, streches and tips would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks!
