Could My Doctor Just Prescribe This To Me

My doctor just prescribed Wellbutrin for me. Does anyone have any opinions of this drug?

Wellbutrin or Wellbutrin XL works fine for many, and not for others. I do believe perhaps being on Zoloft or another for years first may have something to do with it. Some people report bad experiences however; it could be that they hadn't been on another med prior to its use. Doctors can also prescribe Wellbutrin in addition to another medicine such as Zoloft. Zoloft could be more used to calm down the emotions more such as crying a lot etc., and the Wellbutrin to give you the motivation to do something while not so down. Everybody really has to do a trial and error to figure out what works best for them. For others Paxil or others might have worse side effects for them. I believe there are about 3 different types of these antidepressants with differing main ingredients, so some people do better with a drug from one of the families of drugs, while others do better with another. I don't think you can really go on somebody else's experiences, as you'll find extremes either way probably for every medicine. If it was a new drug not used much lately, then I'd think extreme responses to your question would be more worrisome. Trying anything is better than nothing, and you can always switch after the appropriate amount of time. I agree with the other response about your age, if you are younger perhaps trying another would be better given the potential for higher suicide risks. Your doctor will probably ask to see you in two weeks to check on your progress; call their office if your worried about effects before then. Good look and remember you're not alone!

Can you ask your doctor to prescribe you a certain medicine or do they have to prescribe it themselves?

You can always give your doctor a heads up on what medicatos have done well to you. If you mean and former controlled sustances—forget that, they are being withdrawn frompatients in large numers, and they will not bugde. I think it would make the doctor’s help to make a better informed decision on what drugs to put you on if you tod them past successes and symptom cure or palliation. Remember—the doctor is not to be in charge of you—they a just a part of the medical and hospital team that YOU have the right to also participate in and give feedback. I would ask questions regarding any different therapies or drugs with less side effects that may allow you to function when you go back home or to work. Don’t be afraid to speak up—your doctor is probably making rounds on his patients on your floor ad may seem in a hurry. Slow him down and get what you need ordered or questioned. Make sure a nurse is near to write down the order, as she may be writing it as a verbal order, or he may do his own. Health care is no longer what it used to be, and patient’s are becoming more pro-active and educated. Patients are now seen as consumers, and not those to e given true “Hospitality” which is what “hospital” derives from. YOU are in the ultimate responsibility for your health given competent staff. Ask as much as you like, collaborate with past problems and solutions, and make sure, when at home, you make a booklet for each family member with their medications, dosages and times to take, Include vitamins and also your past medical history and allergies—they will love it—but always seem to lose it—have copies. Don’t let anyone intimidate you into doing something you do not want to do—tell them you will think about it when/if your significant other comes. Don’t ask for opioids, but certainly describe your symptoms. Once again, have few expectations they will be prescribed.

Why wont my doctor prescribe me chantix because i smoke pot?

She said its because it's not certain what could happen because there hasn't been enough testing involving chantix and pot users. But i could have just lied to her (or seen another doctor) about my pot use and it's not like she piss tests me, but with that said im an honest person and hate lying.
