Woman Warriors (Vikings) & Settlements?

Regardless of legend or not, I want to know the woman's name. I believe that it is not merely a myth. A read a historical fiction a few years back about a young girl captive (most likely fictional) who got taken on a journey by this woman warrior to establish a settlement. Could women be Samurai Warriors in ancient Japan...?

the women in the Samurai Class played an important role. While the men were off to battle the women were in charge of protecting the homes and looking after the family. The women were also trained in martial arts and skilled in the use of the naginata, a type of lance. Sometimes the women would fight alongside the men in battle. One of the most famous female warriors was Tomoe Gozen, wife of Minamoto Yoshinaka. She fought bravely against the Taira clan during the Gempei War and was hailed as a gifted archer and swordswoman

Which Warrior Women ( I think it was Spartans) would Cut off their (mainly the) right breast?

They were the Amazons. Among Classical Greeks, amazon was given a popular etymology as from a-mazos, "without breast", connected with an etiological tradition that Amazons had their right breast cut off or burnt out, so they would be able to use a bow more freely and throw spears without the physical limitation and obstruction; there is no indication of such a practice in works of art, in which the Amazons are always represented with both breasts, although the right is frequently covered.

Hippocrates describes them as: "They have no right breasts...for while they are yet babies their mothers make red-hot a bronze instrument constructed for this very purpose and apply it to the right breast and cauterize it, so that its growth is arrested, and all its strength and bulk are diverted to the right shoulder and right arm."

hope this helps

Were there ever a band of female warriors?

Although there have been tribes of people in which the women would participate in warfare, there has never been a tribe of people with only warrior women. It is a fable.

The main reason women have traditionally been excluded from warfare is because of their ability to birth children. It only takes one man to repopulate a tribe, but it takes numerous women. Men are more expendable than woman when it comes to the continuation of the species.

Why is it only men who start wars?

Golda Meir would have started the Yom Kippur war had Henry Kissinger not talked her out of it.
