I want to get my sister a CD for her birthday. She likes Taylor Swift, Owl City and Relient K, but both she and my brother seem to have all of their CDs. Any ideas of other people she might like to listen to?

What bands, singers, genres, you like the most, would you recommend me?

What a tough question,...Although I'm getting on in years, I went to my first music festival earlier this year, and I'll be going again in 2018The festival was the Port Fairy Folk festival https://www.portfairyfolkfestiva... Although its called a folk festival, it had a very broad range of acts and genres.I've always liked multiple genres, but Blues & Rock are generally my staples, I've never thought of myself as a "folk" enthusiastSome of the best acts at this festival, and the ones that I remember the clearest are the ones I hadn't heard of prior to going.I went for The Waifs, Tash Sultana and The Backsliders. Now all three of these acts were outstanding, Tash Sultana is a mind blowing talent that crosses genres and something I'll never forget, The Backsliders have a great "dirty" Blues sound and the Waifs have some of the best songs I've heard, but in general, I knew what I was in for to a certain degreeSome of the others I heard and saw, that I wasn't expecting to like, or remember • The Jerry Cans, a band that included Inuit throat singing, (bought their CD,.. and they signed my hat!)• 8 Foot Felix, (had no intention of seeing them but the tent we wanted was having sound issues), these guys are completely mental, so glad we saw them• A "songs from the mission" session by four Australian Aboriginal women, talented, funny, educational with great messages in their songs• And the very best, my favorite session of the 4 days was Dom Turner and Phil Wiggins, just a reverberator guitar and a blues harp, they were outstanding. My advise for you is to go anywhere you can see and hear as much variety as possible, I'm sure some of the best bands in the world, neither of us have heard yet.My favorite genre is Blues, but I couldn't help be sucked into the multitude of music flavours that were available at a festival situation. There were a few acts we saw over the 4 days that were not all that memorable, but the more variety you listen to, the more gems you'll findNext year I'm heading back for The Teskey Brothers, Harry Manx and Jack Broadbent, but I'm most excited about the acts I'll hear for the first time that I don't even know exist yet

What songs of the singer Mando (Μαντώ) would you recommend?

Hi Blaze, hope you're fine!
Manto is a well known singer in Greece, her vocal abilities are unquestionable.
I think that what you find in youtube is enough.
For more info about the verses you can search www.stixoi.info
(stixoi=verses, in greek).
My favorite song of hers is this with Antonis Remis, 'Emeis' (=we), very nice verses

Some examples of nice (and not dated) song of hers, you'll see that she has a very diverse 'repertorium':
'Ashes'

'port without a sea'

'It seems'

'Dangerous missions', THIS ALSO REMINDS ME MY YOUTH, old song

'Till I meet you'

Happy ...listening!
This is too little for Manto, because she has many songs.

What are some clean indie bands/singers?

I honestly don't really like cursing in songs, but I love indie music, and there are quite a few indie bands that curse a lot in their songs. If you know some great, non-cursing indie bands, I would be so glad if you could suggest them to me! Thanks!
