Country Music That Isn

Do you hate country music?

You sound pretty self-absorbed yourself, and a bit ignorant as well. You're not the only person who feels that way about country, for sure, but you definitely have not been exposed to it enough to realize that you are mistaken.

For one, have you actually listened to a lot of other genres? "Creative" can be big or it can be "subtle". If you are unfamiliar with "country", of course it will seem to you that it sounds mostly the same. So would rap, blues, bluegrass, classical, r&b (the new generation of it sounds all the same to me!), etc.

I'm not a big country fan, but there are songs that I just love -- even some of the r"

The problem is that the humor in these songs are on the Larry the Cable Guy level. Dumb and simpled minded humor.

Why isn't Country music more popular?

it seems to me that people want to listen to useless, crappy music. Songs like "i can make your bed rock" and "Love Game." Why is it that people don't listen to music with good messages anymore? In Country music they usually don't talk about sex and drugs. I like songs like this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5z-jjWyA...

SOME pop music has good messages. But the ones you see on the charts everyday; they usually don't. Why?

Is Country Music Evil?

No. I listened to it and actually GOT my car, and dog, and wife, and house BACK.

But seriously, no. Your statement assumes that people are brainwashed. It also assumes that "most" country fans are the way you described. Unless you are around ALL country fans, you cannot assume a correlation between just the ones you know and everybody else. No offense, but I've heard the "brainwashing" part so many times that it is just getting old and typical.

Plus, be a man, dude. Nobody FORCES you "listen" to anything. You might HEAR it. But it is ultimately YOUR choice rather or not you "listen". And yes, if you actually FOLLOW the music you listen to, it is VERY POSSIBLE that it affects society in a negative way. But then again, it isn't the music, it is whether or not (and how) you follow it. I mean, I'd like to "rock and roll all night and party ev....", uhhhh, no.
I like and PLAY all kinds of music, but I don't LIVE by it.

You know, there are a lot of people who wish to censor, or place blame, or close their mind to, or be intolerant of things just because it's cool NOT to like them. I honestly think that THOSE people are probably the ones who are "brainwashed".
Again, no offense, but you asked.

Why is country music awful?

Well, taste in music (like many things) is subjective and what you might find horrible other people might like. That being said you seem to have a general answer to your question in your details. One of the primary reasons behind that specific example, however, is that big record companies do not like taking risks and will run trends into the ground, because it makes money.  Ideally, country music should reflect the background of the singers and songwriters that write and perform them; back roads and pickups are part of many peoples' lives in the country so some of those people relate to songs about them.  You also see a lot of songs about fishing, boats, being outdoors, traditionally associated with living a country lifestyle.  None of these things is bad on their own, but what happens is that, as I said before, studios see these making money and don't allow artists to sing about anything else (under most modern recording contracts, unless a musician or band already has a large, previously built fan base they get very little say in what music they write).  Then there's people who want to cash in on the trend on their own.  That isn't saying that people don't write/sing songs about these topics, because they genuinely like them. Not all country music is like this, though.  If you look into it on your own and not only look at what's on the radio and CMT there are many artists with wholly unique sounds.I'd recommend checking outShane Smith and the Saints(Fun Fact: I'm somewhere in the crowd in this video)Roger CreagerRobert Earl KeenIf you want to check out more I've got a podcast about the Texas Country and Red Dirt scenes that are based in Texas, Oklahoma and immediate surrounding states.Southbound I-35Changes made to answer:  Putting official videos to the Roger Creager and REK songs.

Is there Satanic country music?

I badly need help with music because I am an expert on only the martial arts (I have a green belt in Kenpo karate and have driven my fists through every man-made material excluding hot steel; I have hospitalized 6 bouncers and I once punched a man so hard in the chest that I dented his pacemaker). It seems that every genre of music has its normal or "good" version and then a darker, tough guy version, which is usually the kind I prefer. Example: if MC Hammer was the nice guy of rap, then NWA was evil or "gangsta" rap. There is also nice heavy metal, but who remembers those cross dressers, and then there is the evil and awesome metal from Norway, where headbangers commit arson and hunt their own food and stab people over parking spaces. Tough. Only problem is, I prefer country music to rap and metal, and I find the lyrics too wimpy. Country musicians are all into family and Jesus, but I would prefer a country singer that is into bachelorhood and Lucifer, or something comparably evil. If this style of country and western music does not exist, I would be happy to assist any aspiring artists out there make it a reality. I cannot play instruments because I prefer to keep my hands balled into permanent fists, but I would be happy to allow a qualified band of musicians shadow me for one week to learn everything they need to know about being a bad a**. Or, if you know some songs I can download, we can skip the field trip altogether. Your call.

Why do hip-hop fans hate country music?

I'm a fan of many genres. I've always hated country though. I hardly consider Johnny Cash to be "country". He was nothing like the artists now. I've never heard a country song with a message any deeper than "my whiskey" "my woman" "my dog" "America". Perhaps there is an underground country? I also just can't stand that accent.

BQ: I think they're ignorant. I'm willing to hear any country song that someone claims to have more meaning than the four subjects I mentioned above. It's evident that most of them aren't willing to listen to any hip hop though.

BQ2:Yes, we'd shut them down easy.

Why don't young people like country music?

I just wanted to let you know that I love country music and I'm 15...but I like other types of music too. It seems that rock music, hip hop, pop, ect. have more of a meaning to younger people because they can understand what the songs are about...a lot of country songs are written along the lines of when you are older. Also, something similar to peer pressure takes place, like when you are at school and all of your friends are listening to everything but country, you kinda get hooked on it. I don't think its because country is not "in style" but because no one wants to be different from everyone else...hope this makes some sense? =}
