Craigslist Scammer Help

Craigslist!!!? is this a SCAM help guys!!?

100% scam.

There is no job. There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "secretary/assitant/accountant" and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send the "traveling expense" money, in cash, via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer. When your bank realizes the check is fake, it bounces and you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank's cash you sent to the overseas scammer.

6 "Rules to follow" to avoid most fake jobs:
1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.
2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

If you google "fake check scam", "money order fraud Western Union", "fake driving job" or something similar, you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

Help! I gave a Craigslist scammer my name, address and number via email!?

I usually make fun of people on television who are stupid enough to fall for these kind of things, but I got so caught up in the bliss of how well the transaction may go that I didn't pay attention to details.

So I got a Craigslist account (I was desperate, alright?) and am selling a digital camera. This random person emails me from "cccole23@gmail.com" and asks me if it's available. (Note: I'm very new to Craigslist). I say of course, are you willing to purchase?
Then he sends me a long paragraph (from "calv.cole6@gmail.com"!!! WTF) about how he's thankful for my response on the "item" and how he is satisfied with the condition of the "item" and how he will send me a money order and add on a random extra $30 for me to hold it for him.

Now here's where it gets really stupid:
he asks me for my name and address...for mailing reasons.
So I give him my name and address, like an IDIOT!
and he says "I'll have my assistant contact you for picking up the item".
Then I thought, "If you're so damn important to have an assistant, why are you on Craigslist buying a used camera from some chick?".

STUPID STUPID STUPID.

Anyway, I read previous questions similar to this, and people say the scammer can go to the post office and change my address and crap around...though I only get advertisements from colleges.
He could do anything though!
What do I do?
I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night and a yellow-eyed Mongolian schizorapist is breaking in. I don't want to have to carry mace around the house.
WHAT DO I DO!?

How do you report Craigslist scams?

You can report to the website admin, but they will just suspend the scammer’s account. Your money is still gone. Craigslist as well as other ads listing websites is a home for scammers because of the wide variety of services offered there and the ridiculously low fees to post these ads. I have been scammed twice on craigslist and neither craigslist nor the authorities could do anything about it.I was lucky however, to meet a cyber specialist who helped me recover my money. All he did was collect the payment receipts and trace the payments. When he found what he was looking for, he petitioned their bank. Eventually, my money was returned to me. Financial institutions do not like courts. They will do anything to protect their reputation. This is a loophole that one can exploit if you know what to do. If you are a victim of a craigslist scam or any kind of scam, you should contact Brian Anfield immediately. He is also on Quora. Just type his name in the search field at the top of this page. Goodluck.
