Crashed Bike Landed On Face/nose Blood No Pain

I just hit my face hard (do i have brain damage)?

I think that your brain damage comes from all that self medication you give yourself.

I hit my head once on the pool wall after I had drank some wine with some friends. I was bleeding for sometime but didn't realise it. I go on my bike and sped down the esplanade... I cycled for 20 km and went to the shops to get some ice cream. The cashier was looking at me funny... little did I know that my cut had dried and I was covered in blood. I got back on my bike and rode all the way back to the cabin. My friends fiance asked me where his fiance was? I told him that she was at the shops... (she was on holidays and didn't know how to get around mind you) anyway... the ice cream had melted, I had to chuck it into the bin... and I crashed on the bean bag (fell asleep)... when I woke I had a look at my bike and it was completely destroyed. The wheels were all twisted and wonky. My friend came out and ask me what had happened to my bike? I told her that I had no idea... some where between leaving her at the shops (20km away) and the cabin something must have happened. Parts of my bike were also missing.
Later that day we went for a drive and found parts of my bike in a tree 5 km from the cabin, how they got there is any-body's guess. I must have been riding pretty fast for the parts to get up there.... To this day I refuse to drink and swim... its a no show for me! ... (that was 13 years ago)

Moral of the story..... You probably do have some brain damage... but does it really matter? It won't affect you that much. Since that event I have graduated with 2 University Bachelors, one undergraduate and postgraduate... so you'll be right.

You might need to have another concussion or hit to the head to make it though.

Keep up the good work :-P

Is it normal to cough blood after head injury?

A few days after falling (or after any other unexpected impact traumas), people are often surprised to find bruising or pain in places they didn’t realize were impacted. This is true when people are sober. This is especially true when drunk. The headache is to be expected after hitting your head.If you are coughing blood, you may have other chest or diaphragm level organ injury. You didn’t mention where you hit your head, but in some cases, depending where your head trauma was, blood from the trauma may be draining through sinus or other pathways. This can accumulate in the throat or upper lungs when sleeping and you end up coughing that up in the morning. Hard to say without a medical specialist looking at you and imaging.Nobody can diagnose your condition online. Because of the nature of your head and possibly chest or abdominal trauma, I recommend you put a call into your primary care physician or visit your local urgent care clinic for proper assessment.

Is it unwise to ride a motorcycle with an open-face helmet? If you get into an accident, how likely are you to end up with permanent scars?

As a rider with almost 11 years under my proverbial belt, I consider it unwise. It’s not even really an issue of scarring, but doing what you can to mitigate your own risk as much as possible. It is commonly said that if you ride a motorcycle, it’s not a question of IF you will wreck***, but when. Every rider I know has been involved in a wreck at least once. This isn’t always an issue of negligence on the part of the rider, but more an issue of the inattentiveness of other drivers.I direct you now to one of my favorite helmet graphics designs, “statistics” on a helmet made by Icon. They took actual crash statistics pertaining to the part of the head affected by primary impact in motorcycle crashes and printed it on the helmet. A bit morbid, perhaps, but if you look, you’ll notice that 27.8% involve the right facial area, and 25.9% involve the left facial area. Over half of primary impacts are in the face area. Granted, an open face helmet is better than nothing, but when you’re moving forward and come free of your bike, it’s pretty intuitive that the front part of your head might be the first part to make contact with whatever object is stopping your forward motion. If I’m riding, I’m riding in a full face helmet.*** Edit: see my response to the comment on this answer. “Wreck” was possibly the wrong choice of word, as I mean that your bike will end up on its side at some point. The important thing to keep in mind is what CAN happen, and prepare accordingly by thinking through possible scenarios, train your body for evasive maneuvers, and wear appropriate gear to protect your body for both the ride, and potential impacts.

Have you ever witnessed any live accident?

I don’t know if this qualifies as accident or not , but this happened 3–4 years ago . I was travelling by train and per chance was sitting on the window seat (still a kid at heart) . Train was slow because of some signal clearance not given and was almost crawling . From the window , I could see some men standing on the side of the tracks (something like this . -> {my train} , open track ,{men}). I could hear a train approaching on the open track as it was honking . In a flash , I saw one of the man jump directly in front of the train and the train hit him at such a speed that I don’t know what happened to the body .But after the train had passed , I saw blood on tracks and part of head which overwhelmed me and I had to go to the washroom to puke and immediately moved to upper berth to sleep as I thought It is all a bad dream .
