Created a Sports Social Network, but is there still a market for Social Networks after facebook?
I have created a Social Network based in South Africa that caters for the local Sports market. What I would like to know if there is actually still a "market" for any social networks after facebook? In other words would anyone actually consider to use another social network seeing that everyone already uses Facebook? Did Koreans invent Social Networking Sites?, Did White people copy and make Facebook, MySpace?
Umm...No. "Highly likely"? Most westerners haven't even heard of Cyworld. In fact, it failed miserably in both the US and Europe. Koreans did not invent social networking. Also according to Wikipedia, "social networking sites" began with communities like AOL (1983), Compuserve (1969), Prodigy (1984), Classmates.com(1995), etc. There were old-school chatrooms that let you just talk anonymously with a bunch of other people, too. Things got "bigger and better", and we now have Friendster, Twitter, Myspace, Mixi, etc. Just because one Korean website is older than 2 more American websites doesn't mean they're ripping off Koreans. Seriously...
