What can you do with leftover cooked rice? Can it be used the next day? Can it be reheated or just eaten cold?
Rice can be kept up to a week in the refrigerator. I would highly recommend sealing it in an air-tight container, so that it properly retains the moisture and softness, when re-heated.Rice has the highest quality on the day you cook it. You can eat it cold, but it is much, much better if you reheat it. I'd even go so far as to say it is "gross" (I think that's the culinary term commonly used) if you eat it cold. One to two minutes in the microwave should restore it to a decent quality. Before placing it into the microwave, I'd recommend putting it into a bowl and covering it with a plastic wrap, so that the rice can be restored to an acceptable level of softness and moisture. For Asian rice, like others have mentioned, fried rice is tasty, relatively easy to make and, if you add in a significant amount of meat, can be a meal in itself. Everybody has their own recipe, but here's mine:Char siu (Chinese BBQ pork) - not always easy to find, but if its available, that's my first choice.Bacon (cut into 1/4 inch strips, then fried)Ground PorkLeftover steak, chopped into tiny bitsChopped onionsTwo or three eggs, first scrambled, then chopped into tiny bitsGreen onions, choppedSalt, pepper, dash of soy sauceTiny bit of chopped cabbageDelicious!
Help on vegetarian foods that don’t involve soy stuff…?
Hi all, so I’m deciding on becoming a vegetarian for ethical reasons (but I’m not deciding to/don’t see a reason to go vegan, don’t debate me on this, just read on). so I was just in the process now of exploring the “fake meat” foods like soy burgers, soy hot dogs, honestly, they taste bland and I dunno if it’s gonna work with me (ya, im kinda a picky eater to begin w/). Is this whole vegetarian thing gonna work? Are there any vegetarians that don’t like soy stuff either but eat other stuff? I’m just trying to explore normal foods that don’t have meat, the list below is what I could think of, what am I missing? can you help add to this list? Breakfast: Eggs, hash browns, waffles, pancakes, cereal american soups, salads, mac/cheese, most pastries, fruits Italian: Cheese pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, pasta w/o meat Chinese Chow mein w/o meat, fried rice Mexican Cheese enchiladas, cheese quesadillas, Spanish rice Can anyone help add to this list of stuff a vegetarian can eat? thanks

1980's themed food ideas?
We're doing a decade project on the 1980's for my history class and we want to bring in some food that has something to do with the 1980's. Any suggestions on what I can make?
