Dealing With Gender Segregated Schooling Advice Needed.

Is gender segregation on school buses legal?

It's perfectly legal. Obviously there was stuff going on that the bus driver was just sick of dealing with and he's fixing it in this manner. How is this hurting you? Is one side of the bus better than the other? Is the bus driver declaring one gender superior to the other?

Do you think children learn better in gender segregated schools?

Do you believe dividing young males and females into separate classrooms or schools allows them to focus on their studies more intently without distractions, particularly during their teenage years? Wouldn't it permit teachers to tailor their curricula and teaching methods to the specific needs of each gender? Wouldn't all young persons become better prepared to face the world if they went to gender isolated schools? Do you or would you send your children to an all girls or all boys school?

Should schools segregate the handicap?

I would say it depends on the handicap, and sometimes even the extent of the handicap. If it’s something like Aspergers, Dyslexia, ADHD, definitely not. Segregating them simply doesn’t do them any good. However, they should be able to have one or two special classes just for them that can give them the extra support they need.If it’s a more severe disability like low-functioning Autism or brain damage, it is probably better for them as they need constant help and support, and there can be teachers trained just to suit their specific needs.

Why is sex segregation still being practiced in Indian school system? Do people in India consider this as a problem, or they are oblivious to this kind of segregation?

As far as I remember making a boy/girl sit between two person of other gender used to be a punishment up till I reached the middle school. But the negative heat(not like fighting but like don't care) was still between boys and girls up till the end of middle school. By high school everything was starting to get normal and heat turned into positive at the end of it, you know hormonal changes.Same gender school is a very different thing. No offence but boys are kind of stupid up till the middle school, at least were during my time. They keep themselves busy in sports, some stupid fight talks (WWE was hot in my time) and stuff like that. They are actually unaffected by the presence of girls. The only time bothers them when they sit aside a girl or a girl came to talk to them because for them girls are stranger though they study in same class. But by the end of the middle they take notice of the girls and it starts getting normal. So some of the boys-girls get into tune(friends).By 10th grade if some people couldn't get well with other gender then they become member of group of same gender. That is how interaction takes place between boys and girls. This is what happened in very broad sense in my school. But there was a time during middle school when boys and girls were made to sit separate in different columns but that made teacher crazy. For children comfortable with same gender this was like a jackpot. They could sit with their friend all day and so there were uncontrollable chattering. So teacher made students to sit in an alternative boy-girl pattern. For few days teacher won the battle. Since you are sitting with some-one for 8 hours a day for 6 days a week, you automatically start getting comfortable. Now this led to a disaster for teacher. Now everybody started to talking almost each other. But boys and girls could play together during the sports period. So, this thing which you call discrimination is actually a tool to avert the disaster for teacher. But sometimes it results because of two genders getting more than comfortable which obviously teacher don't want it to happen in class while he/she is teaching. But in rare cases it can be a thought of a mind which thinks it can lead to some extreme situations like harassing. But to my point of view I don't see it as a discrimination but may grow seeds of discrimination in someone's mind.

Reasons why schools should not be segregated?

There are many reasons why schools should not be segregated. The reasons are listed below:

1.It is sexual discrimination. Gender segregation is a controversial policy and a lot of people consider it a violation of human rights.

2.Both girls and boys need to communicate with one another to be able to kind of know how to survive in the real world where is everything is much harder.

3. The reason why schools are wanted to be segregated is because it is said that single-sex schooling produces better grades. However, there have been studies that got the opposite results. A lot of studies tell that there is no difference amongst the two. Even the U.S. Department of Education undertook an extensive review of the data recently and said that the results were "equivocal" as in there isn't evidence to prove that students have a greater chance of succeeding in
single-sex schools.

4. It isn't equal and fair. In sex segregated schools, classes, or activities there won't be the equality in because facilities, quality of instruction, levels of expectations, treatment of students, or preference for a particular teacher won't be the same.

5. It is more expensive for schools to be separated because of separate facilities for single sex education. Also to ensure the resources and facilities are suitable and equal for both girls and boys in segregated and mixed sex options, it would take time and money. Also other resources would be a necessity like staff training and program evaluation.

HELP!!! need rebuttal for debate (single-sex schools vs co-ed schools)?

A good rebuttal lets you segway into one of your main points while making there's look bad, so lets see if we can't do that :).

1) With all the technology and social mediums, most students can easily learn to interact with the opposite sex in a healthy way that doesn't disturb classroom time.

2) From personal experience this statement can be about 50/50. Some people flourish from interaction while many others don't. *Refer back to point 1*

3) There is no reason that diversity shouldn't exist in a single sex school. Students of different ethic backgrounds and cultures should always be a large percentage of any school *Refer back to point 1*

4) With less distractions in school, the student can be better prepared to enter high education.

5) Any effective school should show all of those qualities regardless of sex.

6) This is another example of half the students being able to adjust, and half the students not being able to fully focus on the task at hand because of distraction.

7) *Refer back to point 1*

8) Stereotypes are pre-generated idea's that students are often exposed to outside of the classroom and rarely stem from the education process. *Refer back to point 1*

9) Those types of studies often reflect a very small percentage of those whom it represents. Although it may be credible with some, it will certainly not be credible with all.

10) I don't see how this would hinder the education process of a single sex school, in fact it would that it would liberate them to give the students more educational opportunities.

11) Those are the focuses of single sex schools to provide those factors so that the student exceed in life and higher education.

12) While segregation of races is a horrible thing to do, single sex schools have far less to do with prejudice idealism, and more to do with being able to allow the student to have the maximum amount of education possible.

Hope that helps you jump start some idea's, because it took me a hell of a long time to write.

Looking at the debate on segregation of transgenders with the third toilet, does it confirm a gender segregation between female an males too? If so, should we just not start advocating for unisex facilities?

Overlooking the poor quality of this question, absolutely! Unisex toilet facilities are a great idea. They eliminate the line imbalances that lead to women crossing their legs and peeing in bottles while men swan in and out. They eliminate the need for men to change babies on the floor or sneak into the women’s room because why would men’s rooms need baby changing tables? They make it less awkward for carers to provide the help that some people need in the toilet. They make it easier for people with shy bladders, or who have to do something awkward like changing/emptying a colostomy bag. All that, and they shield transgender people from toilet discrimination too. Unisex, single-stall toilets for all!

Why is graduating high school in the USA such a big deal?

Like seriously? Graduation parties and everything. Also a ceremony?

Are kids here really that dumb that many do not make it past high school??

That is weird to me. I went to school in NZ. I went to an ALL GIRLS single sex school and most schools in NZ are single sex. They are also British education systems.

Graduating high school does not hold the same value. If you are drop out you are a drop out.

Maybe it is the different schooling systems or something.

Graduating COLLEGE is more important to us. I have just recently graduated college. It is a relief.

So why with the US graduating crap at high school?

Why is sex ed needed in schools?

Because the common knowledge of the topic is dangerously poor. The more time passes the more dangerous ignorance begins. My grandmother never used tampons because she was sure it would make her unable to pee. She learned the truth in hospital when she was in her late sixties long after she had three children. I don’t know what other nonsencse she believed, but it did not harm her much. The only partner she ever had was my grandfather, the only contact she allowed him before marriage was touching her hand. And she never sent any naked selfies, because there were no selfies back then. Neither naked, nor clothed.Nowadays many other wrong ideas ciruclate our society. And they can be much more damaging than those of my grandmother. There are people who believe that abortion does not harm the woman at all. There are people who believe condoms never tear. There are people who believe anti-pregnancy pills can protect from STDs, too. There are people who believe that withdrawal is 100 percent protection from getting pregnant. There are people who believe that lack of masturbation causes cancer. Or that abundancy of masturbation causes cancer. There are women who believe you cannot get pregnant if you do it for the first time in your life, or standing, or in the water, or with a new partner, or at the daylight. There are men and women who believe that a period cycle is always 28 days, not a single day more or less. There are people who think sex happens in life same way it happens in porn films and who ruin their relationships forcing their girlfriends and wives to do the stuff they saw in that video. There are people who are sure that visiting a hynaecologist is not necessary unless you think you are pregnant. There are mothers who try to bribe hynaecologists for them not to examine their teen daughters because they find it stressful and useless. There are 30-year-old men who have never been to an andrologist.Last but not least, there are people who don’t know why you should shower before sex. These all are people who did not get proper sex-ed when they were kids. And when they have kids of their own they tend to tell them fairy-tales about storks and cabbage, so that those kids learn about sex from gossip, urban legends and porn.Briefly speaking, sex-ed is (or at least should be) aimed at fighting dangerous misconceptions about sex and sexuality, especialy those of them which can cost you health and life.
