Deep blue or Atlas? (albums)?
I was planning to buy a Parkway drive album and I can't decide which one should i buy since both of them are so good, any preferences of which one is better? (only one)
In your country, is Hard Rock and traditional metal (Heavy, Speed, Thrash) still very popular ? Or are you now all into most modern genres like extreme metal, nu metal, metalcore, deathcore, etc ?
Thanks for the A2A!Hard Rock and Heavy Metal in India is indeed still popular. Like most cultures where Metal music is understood and appreciated, we too have bands and fans who follow specific sub-genres of Heavy Metal. The listener base is spread out all over the country, with proportionally greater concentration of fans and bands in the Tier-I cities and in the NorthEast region. One big reason for this is that Heavy Metal has appealed mostly to the English-speaking crowd in the country. Many fans receive their first exposure mostly in school, and these days the Internet too. So cultivating an open-mind sensibility about global cultures helps develop a preference to this style of music. Additionally, like everywhere else, the frustrations of being an Indian teenage kid figuring their way in the quagmire of academics, peer and parental pressure, identity formation etc lends additional weight to embracing Hard Rock where you quickly relate to the music because somebody made a song out of your disgruntled feelings. Many fans open up to more genres as they encounter them, and there are thousands of Metalheads in India who dig Death Metal, Black Metal, Grindcore and the more extreme sub-genres. Metalcore and Deathcore too have their share of Indian fans. The scene is fairly active but spread out across regions, and the last few years have been remarkable in terms of attracting some of the biggest names in Metal to perform on Indian soil. Across various festivals, Indian Metalheads have had the chance to watch Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Nile, Coroner, Inquisition, Kreator, Testament, Slayer, Iced Earth, Demilich, Dream Theater and many more. Metallica, Iron Maiden and Megadeth too have treated us to their timeless tunes.
