Deep Cavity Filling .1/3 Tooth Gone Is That Bad

When is it too late to have cavity filling?

is it when your entire tooth is decayed?

i have a cavity and i'm going to see my dentist.
but i'm just curious when it's too late to get filling

My filling has suddenly become sensitive. What do I do?

I had a filling done approximately around 2-3 years ago and I never had a problem with it. However, just a few days ago my tooth suddenly became sensitive to cold when I took a bite out of my ice cream sundae. As a result, I went to see my dentist but he said there was nothing wrong with my filling. There are no cavities, my gums are in good standing, and the filling is not coming off. Could there be something else wrong?

Can dental lasers be used to treat cavities under the existing fillings to take the old fillings off then treat cavities with laser and then to place a new filling? Is it a better option than a dental drill?

Laser advantages: Patient comfort, much gentler than a drill, doesn’t cause microfractures to surrounding tooth structure, patients report feeling 1/100th to 1/50th the intensity of a drill, cleaned area is sterile, either no or much less anesthesia required, fillings can be 1/3 to 1/2 the size compared to a drill, zero to very little bleeding of the gums (compared to a bur or scalpel), higher chances to keep the pulp or nerve alive (not die) for deep caries, predictable pediatric caries removal and success, and versatility — can be used to sterilize and clean infected rot and decay from enamel, dentin, gingiva, and bone.Laser disadvantages: High cost of laser machine ($85K), cost of laser tips ($58.00 per tip), cost of monthly maintenance ($350.00 per month), cost of training and certification ($3K), time needed to explain to patients and staff, cannot cut through anything metallic, a lot slower (but gentler) when doing a crown, and cannot use on patients who do not give their informed consent (1% to 3% of the population).Other miscellany for: Can soothed and sterilize canker sores, can bloodlessly do a frenulectomy or frenectomy (untie the tongue-tied or lip-tied), can do a laser bandage, can remove a fibroma (inner cheek bite mass), and much less stress and strain to a dentist who uses one on happy and satisfied and appreciative patients.Other miscellany against: Eye protection must be worn by dentist and staff and radiation exposure on the level of using a cell phone for 2 to 8 minutes.

One tooth suddenly sensitive to cold months after a filling, Help?

It is possible that that tooth was deeper than the rest and the nerve has suddenly became inflamed for no apparent reason. It is also possible that the filling has cracked. If this doesn't go away in a couple of days ,I would give the dentist a call and see what he has to say.

Orajel on huge cavity?!!!!!!!!!!pain please help?

I wouldn't put it in the cavity. But there's something else you can buy at the drugstore. It's temporary filling material that you can jam in there for a day or two to cover the nerves while you're waiting for your appointment. It's in the tooth care section at the drugstore. After you put that in, you can use some numbing stuff if you need it.

Poor thing! Keep bugging your mom nonstop--she needs to help you take care of this thing pronto!

My dentist uses a special tool to help diagnose cavities. The hygienist always tells the dentist what the number is. What number do you need a cavity filled at?

Most likely using a “Diagnodent:, laser cavity fluorescence, cavity detector. One of the earlier, and still most useful cavity detection adjuncts. A reading of =>25 generally indicates the caries has reached the enamel/ dentine interface (softer), and will now speed up. The Spectra system (Dentply) is another of a genre of laser immunoflurescese cavity detectors. Keep in mind the specifity of cavity detection with an “old school” dental explorer is 40%, not effective for identifying early, intraenamel caries.

In an accident eight years ago, two of my front teeth were a bit broken. Is there any treatment for this so that they look good?

Yes !!! There is a treatment where the dentist re — shapes the broken tooth/teeth so that a cap (ceramic or titanium) can be fitted on them. The cap can be colour matched with your other teeth to look near perfect. Even the back of the teeth will look natural.Alternately if the damage is minor then the dentist will use some very strong dental material to fill the crack or broken teeth shape it perfectly and then veneer treatment them. In both cases NO ONE will make out the repair. If you stay in Mumbai or nearby then I would highly recommend my Dentist.Dr. DIPIKA T. BHARANI (BDS). Dental Surgeon and Cosmetic Dentist.C/o.
