Did the rise of high definition television change the way makeup was done?

The answer is yes. HDTV was introduced in the 90's for terrestrial use and since then a lot has changed. (1) High-definition cameras can make the cracks on skin more noticeable. If you hide the crack with thicker make-up, the HD cameras will expose that as well. So, a new kind of makeup which was shear and not noticeable under such cameras was developed.(2) Not just facial makeups but wigs were also not left untouched by the HD expose. (3)One more interesting thing is that such cameras made face-detection possible. (4) They have improvised on this, and developed a technology that can aid cosmetologists to detect the thickness and the strokes of brushes for eye-shadow, lipstick, foundation etc. and replicate that on someone else. So, you can get exact make up like your star! (5)I wonder if they can use the same technology and help doctors diagnose skin cancers early, by detecting any characteristic subtle skin changes. If you can tell the thickness of your eye-shadow, then why not help some people with cancer? Hope someone reads this answer and start to work on it.I never thought, I will be writing anything like this. This question intrigued me on how one technological advancement affect other technologies and how it brings about a social change, which in-turn brings more scientific advancement. How do we determine 'what is currently in fashion' and how do fashion trends change?

In general, trends and "fashionable" things are targeted to younger consumers because they care and have the disposable income (no kids to feed). Kids, teens, and younger adults are more flexible and are still developing their identities, so are therefore more susceptible to marketing and will try new things.  Older people usually have less disposable income (kids, car payments, mortgages, retirements!) and are generally more set in their ways and personalities, so less likely to buy into trends and try or adopt the next new trend As for how the new trends come about, designers and retailers all reference (sometimes rely) on information and trend directions put out by trend forecasting companies (WGSN, Stylesight, etc).  These companies put out seasonal services that project what will be next season's trends in all areas (colour, silhouette, fabrications, accessories etc).  These are usually a mix of information gathered from couture shows (Chanel, Dior, etc), travel/street style, and current retailing numbers.  Retailers have a specific job called "buyers" who analyze current sales and trends and who determine which styles are sold in the stores.  This is true of both traditional department stores who may buy from many different designers/brands (Macy's, Bloomingdales, Target), as well as specialty/vertical retailers (Gap, J.Crew, H&M).  Designers will create the product, merchandisers will edit, but the buyers usually have final say in what the consumer ultimately will be able to purchase.  Once in stores, the marketing and advertising divisions are responsible for making you think you want, no NEED that top/jacket/dress/bag...Generally, the cycle of the trend is that a small quantity will be tested in the flagship/top tier stores first- the major metropolitan cities.  If sales are strong (the people who follow runways, and magazines, and style blogs, will see that this is the "new thing"), larger quantities and sometimes additional colours will be added for the next season (and next and next, until it dies an ugly, sales rack death), and that's when the average consumer will notice that it's everywhere, and probably buy into it.  You now have a trend, but whether or not it's still considered "cool" since everyone and their mama is now wearing it, is debatable.  :-)  The cool kids are already wearing the next new thing.

I need meaning for 2 fall out boy songs?

Our Lawyers Made Us Change the Name...

I always thought this song was about them and how their new label was totally changing them. "The ribbon on my wrist says do not open before Christmas" is about how they were being packaged up and shipped like Christmas presents. I never thought it was about suicide. It's them saying they were just normal guys who wanted to make music and not the superstars the record label would portray them as. That would make sense seeing as it was their first track on their major label release.

The original title was, "My Name Is David Ruffin And These Are The Temptations," which is a reference to how Ruffin tried to change the Temptations' name to "David Ruffin and The Temptations," which Motown had done with "Diana Ross and The Supremes." Ruffin overestimated his popularity and was fired from the group in 1968 when he alienated his band mates with his ego and histrionics. Although he was a very talented singer and performed lead vocals on many of The Temptations hits, the group went on without him and had several more hits; Ruffin died of a cocaine overdose in 1991. The song is a warning about the trappings of fame, and if Fall Out Boy kept the original title, they would have risked a lawsuit from Ruffin's estate.

What is the future of the film industry now that everything is being pirated?

An excellent and frightening question as I work in this industry, having seen it go from Film and TV> VHS > DVD >Streaming> ????First, Consumer Trends and DesiresI think that the industry is going to have to improve and pioneer rock solid encryption and playback options. The possibility of playing a Film or TV show or New Media Project anywhere, anytime, any platform is a trend that won’t change. The major players i.e., Sony, Warner Brothers, Disney, etc., in the traditional power structures would really like to have a monopoly. But Netflix demonstrated that a monopoly or perceived power can change dramatically with technology, marketing and consumer trends (again, anywhere, anytime, any platform). The only way to prevent pirating is through a unique encryption platform. 100% piracy prevention must be an improbable goal to achieve. It’s a matter of just holding back the tide with continuous improvements.Second, the industry is going to have reduce its cost i.e., its break-even point. The cost of American film production is very high. Canada, UK and Western Europe falls into this category too. When you are making “Game of Thrones” episodes for up to $8–11 Million per episode, then the show better be a phenomenon or you will wind up losing a lot of money. To that end, the cost effective nature of incentives and lower production costs are going to be key in the future for the survival of the film industry in these changing technological times.
