The number just depends on the fact that how much data do you store. What i am trying to say is that older phones used to store only Name and Contact no. of a person. That is why it was not possible to store 2 numbers with the same name (in those old trustworthy Nokia handsets). After that some phones were popular which would store a little more information like the address of a Contact(I have seen it in Samsung phones having Bada OS). Clearly the phone nowadays store multiple numbers as well as much more information about the contact like the blood group,address,etc. Therefore the number of contacts that can be saved in a phone depends on the generation and how much data you save about your contacts.Cheers!!!
