Dell Vostro 3350 vs MacBook Pro.?

Interested to buy a MacBook Pro, Retina is too expensive for me, so I'm looking at an older models. Anyway, the prices for the leptops is higher than for mine current. My Dell has i5-2450 2.5 GHz, 8Gb RAM, 750Gb HDD, Intel HD 3000 and Radeon HD 6490M. A MacBook Pro is about 500-600$ has i5 1st gen., 4Gb RAM, 320Gb HDD and Intel HD 3000. Does Apple has better performance for such money, does it worth to buy?

How do you repair a broken hinge on your Dell Laptop?

When I say I have VAST experience fixing Dell laptops, I mean I’ve done literally HUNDRED of them over the past 8 years.I'm sorry to say this is not something a non-technical person can do just from watching a YouTube video. There are too many variables. That's why people hire professionals to do it.(I can wire a lamp, but that doesn't mean I can install an electrical socket. I'm just not confident I won't electrocute myself.)Without actually seeing your unit, there are 3 main components to consider when a client has a broken hinge: the chassis because that's what the actual hinge is anchored to, the hinge itself (which anchors to both the chassis AND the lid), then obviously the lid that houses the LCD.Then you have to take into account HOW the hinge was broken. Was it dropped on its corner? And if it was, is the front bezel of the LCD damaged? Is the LCD damaged? Are any components of the motherboard damaged because of the drop? Do all the computer slots function (USBs, power adapter port, VGA adapter, HDMI adapter, etc)?If the unit is still under warranty, call Dell and they’ll ask pointed questions to determine what parts need replacing. They’ll ask if you prefer to have your unit sent to a depot where they have any and all parts necessary to fix whatever is broken. But it would mean you’d be without your laptop for 3–5 business days (depending on which day of the week they receive it.(If the unit is OUT of warranty, then you’l have to pay for parts and service. Then the cost will be determined by what parts are replaced.)The other option is to have a Certified Dell Tech (like me) come either to your place of business or your home to effect repairs. But since only certain parts were requested at the time you called and if it turns out there's more damage then originally thought, then the technician (me) will call Dell Support to request more parts and we’ll have to schedule another service call.So you’ll have to determine if it's easier to just depot the unit for 3–5 business days and get everything done once, or keep the unit with you and if you missed something during the initial call, another visit will be required. That choice is up to you.

My laptop's battery drains even when it is in sleep mode. Is it a hardware problem or a software problem?

First of all make sure your laptop is actually in sleep mode. Many times what happens is that the hinge of the laptop has some problem in it which doesn't let the laptop to go into the sleep mode so you're laptop is running without you knowing since you closed the lid believing it is in sleep mode. One way to check it is the power LED usually given on the sides of laptops which starts to blink if your laptop is in sleep mode.If that's not the problem then try putting your computer into hibernate mode whenever you close the lid. That'll take like 5–10 secs more for you laptop to open once you open the lid but it I'll save your work and the battery. This the best option I think or else you'll have to spend money on your laptop for such a small issue which doesn't makes sense at all.

Which is the best mini laptop with good spec, has a great battery life (traveling) and also below 12"?

Q: Which mini laptop is good with nice specs and also battery life (for traveling) and below 12"?A: I actually had the same question as you about 5 years ago. I am an Indonesian and was about to have a travel to USA and planning to bring my DSLR camera and in need for a small laptop to do simple photo editing and internet upload. With a budget of about USD200, I looked around and found some options. In the end I choosed a Lenovo S100. It has a decent specification (a Celeron CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 320GB of storage, and about 1200x800 pixel 10" screen size). I put a Windows 7 onto it and it's just perfect enough to do what I need. The trip went well and the laptop performed as expected. Sadly, that laptop was broken after about 3 years of usage.About a year ago, I was in a need for a replacement. A small laptop which is small and having decent performance. After looking around, I found the price for laptop has become quite expensive. It's difficult to find a decent one with a budget similar to my previous small laptop, the S100.After diving further, I decided to get a second hand Lenovo X230 for about USD210 on a local internet marketplace. The spec that I got is an i5 CPU, 4GB of memory, 500GB of storage and a 12.5" HD screen). I happened to have some DDR3L extra memories and an unused SSD storage, so I upgraded the laptop accordingly and put a Windows 10 on it. It performs really well so far. The drawback that I see is the exhaust fan sometimes feels very hot under load. I think either I need to find a new fan for it or I need to reapply the CPU paste due to the age.I hope this helps.

Knowledge is knowing tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.Scientifically a tomato is a fruit from the way the seeds grow, but for the sake of cooking it is a vegetable.
