Demi Permanent Hair Dye

RAW demi permanent hair dye?

Manic Panic is a semi-permanent dye while Raw is a demi-permanent. I have had pretty good results with both, although I've noticed Raw fades a little slower than Manic Panic. However, both are extremely messy and still high-maintenance. (be prepared to constantly bleach your shower!).

I have not used either brands blue-black colors but I can tell you this: if your hair has never been chemically processed, (bleached or permanent dyed), it will be MUCH harder to get vibrant color from these dyes, and the black color you want will fade very fast. If you've ever seen someone with fading black color over brown, then you know, it looks bad.

That being said, it should be much easier to get the color out if you don't like it, or once it's faded enough that you decide you want to change it. This is because your hair is natural and most likely will not absorb the color the same way processed hair will. I wouldn't recommend using a color removing product because it does not work well on these types of dyes. A cheap, clarifying shampoo will work just fine if used repeatedly.

If you do decide to go for it, do a strand on the bottom layer of your hair to see what the color will look like fresh, then wash it to test how well it holds up. If you see that it fades too much after one wash, then it probably isn't worth it. If you are satisfied with the color, just make sure that when you wash your hair, do it less frequently and use acid based shampoo and conditioner made for color treated hair. I honestly have not found a hair color that lasts as long as it says it does. Manic Panic will probably fade just as fast as what you had done before, Raw might last a little longer.

Just remember, if you think you may decide to go lighter at all in the near future, don't use these dyes beforehand as sometimes the color does stick and will mess with the color when it is lightened.

I am not sure about Raw but I do know that you can mix the Manic Panic colors to get what you like. If you go this route, try mixing Raven with Black and Blue. This will make a really pretty blue-black ;D

How to remove demi permanent hair dye that won't wash out after a year?

To be completely honest with you, it depends what color your natural hair is, what color dye was used, and what color you want it to be at the end result. I have never heard of a hair stylist "refusing" to fix a botched job; that's really F'd up and low class! make sure you never go to that salon again and spread the word.

Ummm... also before you DIY bleach, you have to keep in mind what I mentioned above. Bleach works, but it depends how many colors you have in your hair prior to bleaching. Also the hair length and how damaged or healthy your hair is at the moment.

Once you have color in your hair, ANY type of color, even semi, demi or a toning rinse, your hair will bleach differently than virgin hair. I don't know your natural color, the color of dye that was used, or what you want your end result to be. It also depends how many times your hair has been dyed before and how many inches of roots you currently have. Try to edit back with this info. and I can help you out.

Keep in mind, bleach is very tricky, especially when being used at home. Especially on non virgin hair, because different sections will color differently and you need to keep an eye on them and rinse them out separately if need be. I really would recommend going to a professional, but if you don't want to edit back and I'll give you some good recommendations.

What is demi permanent hair color?

Demi-permanent products last longer (approximately 24 to 26 shampoos) and also contain no ammonia, so again, you won't be able to lighten your hair. However, a small level of peroxide allows you to create a more noticeable color change.

If you dye your hair with semi/demi-permanent hair dye will the color be able to go completely back to it's original hue?

Semi and Demi permanent hair dyes are meant to fade out of your hair. That being said-when dying from a natural blonde to a semi or demi permanent hair color- there’s a better chance of significant fading as opposed to actually reverting back to the natural shade.However- your roots will grow back in just fine.If you use permanent hair color you can use a color remover, which you CANNOT do with semi and demi dyes. This removes all of the permanent hair color and brings the hair back to close to natural. You’d still need to dye for even coverage after a color stripper. For truly temporary hair color- use hair chalk or hair makeup.

How long does demi-permanent black hair dye last?

demi permanent will fade, that's why its a demi. Demi-permanent hair color
Demi-permanent hair color is permanent hair color that contains an alkaline agent other than ammonia (e.g., ethanolamine, sodium carbonate) and, while always employed with a developer, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in that developer may be lower than used with a permanent hair color. Since the alkaline agents employed in demi-permanent colors are less effective in removing the natural pigment of hair than ammonia these products provide no lightening of hair's color during dying. As the result, they cannot color hair to a lighter shade than it was before dyeing and are less damaging to hair than their permanent counterpart.
Demi-permanents are much more effective at covering gray hair than semi-permanents, but less so than permanents.
Demi-permanents have several advantages as compared with permanent color. Because there is essentially no lifting (i.e., removal) of natural hair color, the final color is less uniform/homogeneous than a permanent and therefore more natural looking; they are gentler on hair and therefore safer, especially for damaged hair; and they wash out over time (typically 20 to 28 shampoos), so root regrowth is less noticeable and if a change of color is desired, it is easier to achieve. Demi-permanent hair colors are, in essence, permanent color and the darker shades in particular may persist longer than indicated on the packet.

RAW Demi-Permanent Hair Dye instructions?

The tips of my hair were dyed with a semi-permanent hair dye, Manic Panic Wildfire (personally I don't even recommend the brand as it won't even last 5 days), and I've been using that for a little over a month. I ran out and went to Hot Topic, wanting to try something new, and got a bottle of the demi-permanent RAW Neon Red hair dye. The bottle had no instructions whatsoever -- just some Cautions and the ingredients. So can somebody please tell me what the brand's demi-permanent hair dye instructions are so I don't mess up? Thanks!

Can I use a demi-permanent hair color on my hair right after a perm?

Just going by my own personal experience here…After a perm, your hair will be more porous (open cuticles) . So the color will deposit a whole lot more than you expect,. It also will be darn near impossible to get back to normal. My experience with this was at a high end salon. I went in for a perm, and while there, the stylist suggested a cellophane, it was a new product at the time, a color wash that is supposed to be conditioning. The shade was red. The color turned out to be a kind of crayola shade of very bright red orange. Not all over, though, just in spots. We immediately made an appointment for me to come back so that the salon owner could take a look and fix it.At my appointment, they tried color remover, then bleach, until my hair was white with orange spots. Then we decided to cut it, and weave color back in. So my hair ended up about 2 inches long and blonde, and terribly damaged. Normally, my hair at the time was a light reddish brown, and shoulder length. So for me - never again will I do that.Definitely wait - condition a bunch - and then have a professional do your color.

Can you tone faded hair color with Demi-permanent dye?

Update: I'm going to try toning my hair with a lighter ash demi-permanent color than I already have with an ash intensifier I bought from Sallys. The worse that can happen is nothing will change in my hair so I figure, why not give it a shot?

I'll update again by Thursday or Friday
