Department Of Corrections Exam

Is correction of class 12 board exam papers liberal?

Liberal !Obviously it is liberal, the marks of lakhs of students are being decided here, If they won’t be liberal and if they won’t allow the opinions of others, then hardly can we have expected marks from an unknown examiner.Having said that let me also point out that liberal here means the respect to the method or sentence framing you have used in answering a question, or the type of perspective you have made of characters in a literature chapter.Keeping that in mind we need to realize that if you write let’s say for an example that Invisible man was villain or a victim to circumstances, both are fine with a proper explanation, but writing that the Landlady is very submissive and doesn’t care about money, then surely it is not liberty, it is wrong perception.I hope I would have cleared your doubts related to that. Thanks for Reading.Stranger!

When might I get a call from the NYC department of corrections?

You got a high list number on one test. there may be other lists that haven't expired. There is a long paperwork and background check process along with a physical. It could take months just to get through all of that. The lists can be around for years, depending, so you should get hired eventually as long as your physical and background goes well. You will get something in the mail. There are too many applicants to call you. Good luck. Start gathering your information, job history, military history, education, etc. and start exercising. There will be a physical and plenty of exercise once they hire you. Good luck.

What is the difference between the new york state department of corrections and the new york city corrections?

A while back I took the new york state correctional officer trainee exam and passed, about a week ago I recived a letter asking if I would like to continue the process and I checked off yes and mailed it off. I also heard about a new york city correctional officer exam, so my question is whats the difference? does the state corrections mean I would only be allowed to work in prisons that are not in the five boroughs? and does the city correctional officers only work in the five boroughs? I know I would have to first complete the academy which is in albany new york but does this mean I will only be allowed to work in upstate prisons? the reason I am asking this is because I live in brooklyn new york.

Nursing or corrections officer?

I am 25 I have a child. I make about 30,000 a yr now atmy job. The corrections department in my area is having an exam. I am thinking of taking this exam since the starting salary is 60,000 with a nice benefits package. I was planning on starting my nursing clinicals next yr and when I get out of school the salary is starting with about 70,000. After 5 yrs of being in corrections I would be making 90,000 and It would just go up from there.

Im so confused but I need to be making more $$$ I have a son to take care of. I do receive child support but still times are really hard. I figure I could take the test and pass and get in as a correction officer and then study for nursing school at the same time.

Or should I just continue on the path that Im on and in 3 yrs I will be a nurse.

BTW the jail I would be working in is a piece of cake it is only filled with petty criminals. And you never go anywhere alone I was told. I am 5'1 and 135lbs.

Why did I fail my police department psych exam?

You have no right to obtain those documents. They constitute a "personnel matter" and are not subject to Freedom of Information open records laws. If they open them up, everybody would be able to read why you failed your psych exam, and that could prevent you from ever getting a job, anywhere, as anything.

Obviously when the Assistant Chief told you that you would have "no problem" he ws not aware of whatever the of psychological problem that you have. If you want the whole thing made public, you are certainly free to sue the department ion the basis that they unlawfully discriminated against you in the hiring process. But, you will not be likely to win the suit, and your psychological disqualification will be open to public scrutiny.

You would be wise to pay to have a similar battery of psychological tests performed at your own expense. If you have a treatable problem, that may benefit you in any future employment endeavors.

Looking for advice/info on what to be prepared for in interviewing with dept of corrections, officer position?

Don't let all of the above information deter you. It is not as hard as you think. I know some states are different. However you are not expected to know everything in the interview you haven't been trained yet... You know what they are really looking for??? Confidence.!!!! Don't walk in there like your running something and that you already know everything that is a big turn off for Supervisors in Corrections, but do not walk in with your shoulders down. You look them straight in the eye. And if you do not know the answer to a question, Tell them you do not know it. They need you. I assure you.
Corrections is a very hard job. Alot of it is mental. You have to be sure of yourself and confident at all times. They do not want someone that the inmates can run over. But, they don't want a Billy Bad a** either. That is going to enter and cause more trouble than they are worth. In the beginning you will be played by the inmates and officers. Meaning joking being cursed out by the inmates. Little cute harmless tricks from the other officers. That is part of it. They are both testing you to see how you will react in an emergency situation. If you can't handle that and If your reaction shows a lot of emotion or you get upset very easily, they will target you quite often. Otherwise you will be sort of boring and left alone to do your job. They will then move on to someone else. That's the inmates entertainment. This job is not for everyone. I knew people that would last two days and some would go to lunch and never return on there first day. Where I worked about 5 out of 50 officers would stay more than two years. With this job, good knowledge of policy and procedures is power. When you know them and can quote them. I assure you will excell and you will not have much trouble. It's knowing what to do when the situation arises. If you can stick it out through the first 6 months things will be much easier after that. Wish you luck.......
