Depression/bipolar/adhd

Can a person with BiPolar, ADHD, and Depression join the Air Force?

Edit add: I was diagnosed with these problems after a large series of tragedies occurred in my life about 10 years ago. I'm perfectly capable of leading a normal life without medication and honestly, I've been off my medication for a while and I'm fine. I'm raising a normal, healthy child and I assure you I handle stress constantly on an every day basis and manage fine. Bipolar is not a multiple personality disorder, wtf to whoever said that. I constantly question whether I even had these disorders but was made to go see a shrink after these tragedies, and yes, they hit me hard but shrinks are eager to give medication as opposed to just talking it out so that's what I've been going along with for the past 10 years.

Why do you think I lost my job (ADHD, bipolar, depression, anxiety or in my head)?

I've learned that Attention deffeciet disorder in which I have is not something to really be ashamed about but to think of it as opportunity for something of greatness! ^_^ I've asked some questions like that before too, never got good answers becuase it wasn't a good question to begin with; you can do amazing things if you really belive and trust in your abilities to do something, if you say you can't because of something that a doctor diagnosed you with then you won't do it, any way those things shouldn't matter with a job. You can say it's because of your diagnosis all you want, but it is from the performance, I have those a lot, anxiety attacks come and go, they are telling me I'm stressed over things I shouldn't be, so if I keep saying it's my ADHD that I didn't do good on my tests, or it's my anxiety that I can't stand watching some shows, you will think that many more times until it's a habit. Then stand up and say " no this is wrong! I can do better and I will, and I'll overcome this thinking that This is why I lost my job! Umm hope this helps.. This is what someone told me.. So I'll pass it on to you! ^_^ sorry if it doesn't...

Adhd vs bipolar disorder?

It is possible for a person to have both disorders. It is also possible for early b/p d/o symptoms to seem more like ADHD than bipolar. Often, the psych MD will go with the less severe diagnosis (ADHD) first in order to see if symptoms can be controlled rather than beginning on the course of medications for bipolar. Very often, people who have bipolar disorder have adverse reactions to psychostimulants (such as Concerta) as well as antidepressants. Most often, the SSRI a/ds (such as Prozac and Paxil) are not tolerated by people with b/p d/o, but "atypical" a/ds (such as Wellbutrin) may be well tolerated. Valid research indicates that b/p d/o does run in families. The symptoms of bipolar are much more severe than those of ADHD. To make matters worse, there is also a disorder known as "Cyclothymia", sort of a "bipolar--lite" that has fewer and less severe symptoms in the bipolar range. One of the features that b/p d/o has that ADHD does not have is the depressive cycling. Depression is not a feature of ADHD. Best suggestion--let your psych MD diagnose you. Don't worry so much about the category of your disorder. Take the appropriate medications that are prescribed for you, and your symptoms will begin to stabilize.

Am I depressed or ADHD?

I have several symptoms of both. For ADHD: I have trouble organizing my thoughts and focusing on things (but I can "hyperfocus" on things that I'm really interested in), I fidget constantly, I'm forgetful about everything, and I hold everything off until the last minute. For depression: I go to sleep early but I don't sleep well (I always wake up during the night and can't go back to sleep) and I always want to nap during the day, I have really low self esteem, I'm not really interested in doing things that I used to love.
Anyway, my doctor put me on Ritalin for the ADHD and it's really helped to clear my brain, but it's made me more hyper (I've heard that sometimes happens when people who don't have ADHD take Ritalin?). Also, I still can't focus on schoolwork. I'm just extremely happy and optmistic, I have better time management, I sleep better, and I have this strange compulsion to exercise/improve myself/etc.
I have a few questions. Could the symptoms of ADHD have been due to depression, and that's why the pills didn't help me focus on school but they did make me happier? (I read that Ritalin is sometimes used to treat depression). Could I have ADHD AND depression, and the medicine is working but it isn't helping with the depression, and that's why I still have no MOTIVATION to do schoolwork but just to focus on making myself feel better? What should I tell my doctor/parents about this? (I don't want to seem like I'm making things up...first telling them that I think I'm ADHD and then depressed...) And what can I do to get motivated for school, whether I'm depressed or not?

Is marijuana helpful for ADHD, bipolar, and depression disorders?

I am bipolar II and used cannabis for many years. I used to take several meds including trazadone. Cannabis in many forms (edibles, smoked etc) to withdraw. Trazadone withdrawal is like methadone withdrawal. The cannabis helped and I use it daily and only tallow doses of meds to be stable. Cannabis has been very helpful.

Who is more likely to commit suicide? ADHD or Depression?

I've decided to post more now. Speaking of just Depression and ADHD individually, Her side, was that people with depression have thought about life AND death, and the consequences of death, that its impulsive ppl such as those with ADHD who are most likely to kill themselves. In my defense, having ADHD, it is not so much as we are impulsive, as we are simply right brained. Instead of looking at something narrow mindedly, we can see all sides to a situation. We are very good with abstract concepts, and suicide is an abstract thought is it not? The afterlife.. a world with out us in it.. ect. We are just as likely to have sat and thought about the consequences of death as well. However, deciding whether or not to put a firework in the toilet.. is not an abstract concept. We're more likely to loose our toilet than ourselves;). Also, people with ADHD adapt extremely well. They easily cope with chaos and confusion, so they are less likely to even get to the point of contemplating s

How do I know if I'm bipolar or borderline or ADHD?

Knowing whether one is a bipolar or borderline or ADHD can be important if one is experiencing some unusual symptoms or exhibiting behaviors that are similar to that of the aforementioned disorders. Fact is that diagnosing an individual with bipolar or ADHD, or for that matter borderline, is a difficult call sometimes even for qualified mental health professional because these disorders often look alike, although because of different underlying conditions. Before I guide you further on what you should do, let me first briefly explain what these three conditions are. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Bipolar disorder is a chronic mental illness that causes dramatic shifts in a person’s mood, energy and ability to think clearly. People with bipolar have high and low moods, known as mania and depression, which differ from the typical ups and downs most people experience.Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a condition characterized by difficulties in regulating emotion. This leads to severe, unstable mood swings, impulsivity and instability, poor self-image and stormy personal relationships. People may even tend to exhibit destructive behavior, such as self-harm (cutting) or suicide attempts.Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Common signs include difficulty in focusing attention or completing a single task or activity, fidgeting and squirming, acting without regard for consequences, impatience etc.So, what should you do to know if you are suffering from either of the three? Seek professional guidance from an expert who has years of experience in assessing and diagnosing individuals with mental health conditions like these. I would like to highlight here that no individual should presume anything by simply finding out information online or talking to someone who neither has thorough knowledge of the conditions nor is certified to do a diagnosis.I hope that you are able to benefit from the information given above.
