Why don’t you Americans just change ‘mirrors’ to ‘meers’ and be done with it?

Just look at this charming yank right here saying it and even using it in a sentence:0:00-0:03Secondly, because Meer is already a noun.In those parts of the Anglophone world that were once colonized by the Dutch—one of which happens to be the author’s home turf—there are many small bodies of water called meers, which are pronounced differently than mirrors.
