Describe The Reason For This Appeal

What are the differences between logical appeal, emotional appeal, and ethical appeal?

Logic appeals to the reasoning power of the person you’re trying to persuade. (Since a+b=c, and b+a=d, surely you can see that d must equal c).Emotion appeals to the emotional ties of the person you’re trying to persuade. (Do this because you love me. Do this because you love your country. Do this because you hate John Doe, and this will materially hurt him).Ethics appeals to the moral or professional code of the person you’re trying to persuade. (Do this because it’s the right thing to do. Don’t do that because it violates the code of professional ethics you swore to live by when you became a physician).

What is the appeal for people using real Christmas trees over fake ones? Or vice versa?

The idea of bringing a living, evergreen tree or shrub into the home and adorning it with bright, shiny things in order to bring the sun back, is steeped in history. Replacing that with something artificial then replaces the ethos.

What does the legal term "grounds of appeal" mean?

This might come as a shock to some people but the United States Constitution does not provide for any right to “appeal”. There is a right to “petition for redress” but this is deemed satisfied by having your petition heard at the trial level. Thus, whether or not you can file an appeal is determined by legislation. In Nevada, our Constitution does provide for appeals, and our statutes provide specifically when an appeal can be filed. Typically, an appeal can be filed from a final, dispositive order, but there are myriad quirks and exceptions to this. For example, you can appeal from an interlocutory order that grants or denies an injunction, or from a “special order after judgment”. You can also appeal an order granting summary judgment or dismissal (if it disposes of all issues) because it effectively ends the case (thus causing it to be “dispositive”), but you cannot appeal an order denying summary judgment or dismissal because the case effectively remains open (thus causing the order not to be “dispositive”).I will add that, the fact that an appeal cannot be filed is often grounds to seek relief via writ petition. Extraordinary writs allow for one to challenge the decisions of our government in certain circumstances. There are various writs one can seek (e.g. mandamus, prohibition, certiorari, habeus corpus). For example, I once needed to challenge the way Nevada’s Confidential Address Program worked. Basically, I argued that there was no way to challenge the determination of the Secretary of State to issue a fictitious address effectively. The Supreme Court of Nevada agreed, considered my original petition for writ of mandamus, and extended Nevada case law. Falconi v. Secretary of State (the gateway to challenging the Confidential Address Program).

Why did socialism appeal to some Americans in the late 1800s?

Socialism appealed to people in the late 1800s for the same reason that socialism appeals to some today. With the problems of the poor and unemployed, many felt that the government needed to provide aid and services to the poor that they lacked. In the 1800s, there was no social security, no welfare, no unemployment insurance. There was no government safety net at all and if a man lost his job, or was paid less than a livable wage at the job he did have, he had no recourse but to accept what little was offered to him with no prospects for advancement in his life situation.

What is the appeal of nightclubs?

There are two kinds of clubs that one goes to when one is 'going clubbing'.Glorified lounges with some dance floor, and lots of tables on the side for bottle service.Sure, some people dance. Most people go to these places, however, to sit at their tables and look smug about how cool they must be to get bottle service. And occasionally get up and dance on the seats around their table, or on the railings-ish things dividing the tables. Or on the dance floor right in front of their table. This kind of clubbing is all for being able to say you went to the coolest hotspot, and to be seen by the right people. And maybe do a little dancing. And before you think I'm being overly snarky, I had my stint of frequenting these nightclubs and sitting at tables and looking smug.Large clubs that, if they have tables at all, are on upper levels that look over onto the dance floor, or otherwise removed. Very large dance floor. DJ is actually halfway decent, if not famous. Some people like to dance. Some people like to dance with music (especially bass) so loud that you can feel it overriding your heartbeat, and echoing throughout your body. To be surrounded by and crushed up against hundreds if not thousands of sweaty, dancing, crazy strangers, who are all completely separate from you but completely in sync with you, dancing to the same music. To succumb to the mob of people and to lose yourself in it. Where you close your eyes and you can't even feel yourself breathe, you're feeling the collective breath of the people around you. Where you can't help but move because dancing feels so natural and so right. You don't have to dance well, you just have to dance; it's impossible to stand still. There is something primal and animalistic about being there that I suppose you either love or hate. This doesn't preclude that there are lots of people who go out dancing to get laid, to be an ass, or be seen at these places, but the core experience is really dissolving yourself into the music and the dancing and the masses. I think it's everything that defines a visceral experience.
