Did Anyone Actually Get A Job By Applying Through The Company Website Or By Using Sites Like Zip

Did anyone actually get a job by applying through the company website or by using sites like zip recruiter, monster, simply hired or indeed?

Yes there are good opportunities posted on those sites but many are just permanent listings or ones that have been filled but not taken down. Those sites are just tools to help people and companies find each other and the recruiters earn a commission if they place someone. Good Luck in your job hunt!

Is it better to apply for a job directly through an employer, or is it better to use a third-party job site like Hcareers or Indeed?

In today’s fast paced world, both methods can have its advantages and disadvantages. While it is true that you can just upload your Resume on these third party websites, many of them do require advance questions for your profile. This is used to then send you jobs they think you may be interested in, other than those that you have applied for.Third party websites has its advantages when it comes to small companies seeking potential employees, as they often do not have a HR department and these websites such as Indeed. It can be expensive, so most of these companies would only use third party career websites for hard to get positions, that requires an extensive screening of potential candidates.Employers website application, may be more extensive as they are “screening” you out to see if you are qualified for the job you are applying for. This lets them know if they should call you in for an interview or not.Just be aware however, that even though it is not said and hard to prove, some recruiting websites can blacklist an applicant if they have applied for tons of job and have not been selected for the same and also if your job profile is not up to date. Also once your Resume has been submitted to a company, sometimes you can get locked out for a few months before you are able to submit another application again. This old adage would be great to remember in this scenario, “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Try various websites and application process. If you can apply directly with the company, do so. If you have to apply with a career website, do so and make sure your profile and Resume is updated.Good luck and thanks for the A2A.

What does date range mean on a job application?

It doesn't say much, that's all it pretty much say. the screen just has. categories as to what to apply for, keywords, as to what type of job you prefer im guessing. zip code, employment type, like part time full time etc.... then on the bottom it has date range. and it has those options I mentioned, idk how else to put it to make it understandable :/

Anyone heard of groovejob.com?

I just checked them out.

It's a real site.

I checked the net, and I don't see them associated with the word "scam" AT ALL - which is good.

I put in my zip and was immediately presented with logos of companies alleged to be hiring.

I clicked on home depot, and found an address for the specific home depot that was hiring (including its address) and a job description.

It gave me an opportunity to apply for the job through them but it required a login, at which point I left the site.

I'd say the site is a go, and on the level.

The only caveat I would offer is that their "on line application" service may require a fee. I don't know that, but I suspect it. Beware of high fees or multiple fees for submitting many applications that never seem to pan out. The site looks good, but you should always be aware of and watch for trickery from anywhere on the net.

When I test a site, I almost always use bogus information to set up an account. Most require an email address, and for these I have a throwaway aol address. If I learn to trust the site, I can always go back and create a new legitimate account.

OTOH, the searches are free, you don't have to login to perform them, and the jobs are well described right down to the address of the job opportunity. If money is charged, you may be able to bypass it and apply directly to the hiring company.

Please enter a valid zip code? Help with online application?

Did you have a space after it, like maybe from copying and pasting? That sometimes holds up online forms. Also try googling the full nine-digit ZIP code and enter that to see if that works.

If it still doesn't work, try filling out the application in a different browser.
