Did I Eat Too Many Calories Not Enough Or Just Right

Is 880 calories enough to eat in a day?

It is way too little. If you are not eating enough calories your metabolism can and may slow down. It goes into "starvation mode"

You are young and growing and your weight is fine, even a little low for your height.

Eating this few calories and going on a drastic diet can have devasting affects.

Just eat like a normal kid and enjoy your life.

Is 880 calories enough?

Your protein intake is too low and you're still eating too much processed food. On top of that, your calories look too low. Without knowing your age, height and weight, it's hard to know your exact caloric requirements, but I would guess it would be no lower than 1200-1500 calories.

Try adding some protein into each meal -- especially breakfast. Eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese or even whey protein powder will get you there.

Ditch the Hot Pockets/Lean pockets. They are loaded with preservatives, fast digesting carbs and fats ... not mention sodium. You need to try to add more "whole" foods into your meals. I realize the Hot Pockets are convenient, but they are nutritionally empty. Instead, try buying a whole rotisserie chicken at the grocer -- you have enough breast meat for two dinners, or a dinner and the next day's lunch. Lean steak, salmon, fish and shrimp are also good quick sources of protein.

Losing the diet soda is a good move. If you have any sugar cravings, try subsituting frozen berries like blueberries, black berries and raspberries.

I've included a number of links to some of my other Best Answers that will give you more detail on how to put together a diet that helps you lose that fat.

Best of luck!

What happens if I eat too much fat but keep total calories under control?

You’re misunderstanding some basic concepts, but this is an easy fix!Too much fat? You’re only eating too much fat if it causes you to eat more calories than planned. The other way would be if you wanted to eat a certain % of your calories from fat and your current intake exceeded that.Sounds like your doing a a low carb diet, maybe even ketogenic. Good news is that recent research has determined that getting into ketosis isn’t as awesome as we once thought. Just being on a low carb diet will still reap benefits. I saw this as keto authors suggest carbs should be limited to 20g, 50g, or 100g per day. Others demand you use keto sticks to measure ketone content in your urine. This isn’t necessary as low carb is good enough.2. 2200 calories.2200 calories lets me figure your protein and fat numbers for you. Keto diets are 70% fat and 30% protein. EVERYONE gets the impulse the up the protein and drop the fat for faster results….but it’s a mistake! Eating more protein/less fat causes your liver to convert more of the protein to glucose. It’s thought that this glucose will keep you out of ketosis. At least, that’s the theory.70% fat = 170g and 30% protein = 165gLet’s say you’re eating 4x day. 4 meals of 40g fat / 40g protein per day.P.S. I forgot to factor in the <100g of carbs. Let me know if you need help doing that.

Is eating this many calories bad?

If eating far too little makes you feel like you're in control -- and yes, that's what you just said -- then yes, you're anorexic. Unless you're 3 feet tall or never get out of bed (and thus use fewer calories simply to live), or, on the other extreme, are a professional athlete and burn calories like nobody's business, you normally should eat around 1,800-2,000 calories a day simply to maintain normal weight and health.

In sum: you just said in so many words that you're anorexic. There's some thought that it's a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes this -- you literally see yourself as fat even the day before you die of starvation -- so don't just dismiss it as "a mental disorder". Please, talk to an adult you trust; talk to a counselor; search for support groups to help you be healthy, not so "in control" that you kill yourself. You aren't in control; anorexia is.

How many calories to eat per day?

You need to start LIFTING WEIGHTS. Yes I know us girls get scared that when we lift weights that we're guna look like body builders. But TRUST me on this (because I lift weights!) it does NOT make us look like body builders. It gives you MUSCLE and makes you look toned and pretty (not buff and big).....

A girl your age can EASILY eat 1500-2000 calories without worrying. Your metabolism is going CRAZY right now and you're using a LOT of calories everyday because you're still growing and developing. If you don't take in enough calories right NOW while you're still growing it will HURT your body because your body NEEDS calories. (GOOD calories that is)

So don't be afraid to eat 2,000 calories! Since you're growing your body is gobbling those calories up! And remember to LIFT WEIGHTS (don't do JUST cardio and JUST aerobics) Your body will LOVE you when you start to do weight training!

Do you think 700 calories is a lot to take in for 1 day?

2000 calories is about healthy now 700? your probably not getting vitamins you need to be healthy. make sure you eat in small portions and never skip breakfast it will boost your metabolism. good luck!
