Did I Strain Or Injure My Mcl

Knee injury any info ?!?!?

Dakota, there are two possibilities. The first is that not only is it a medical collateral ligament but the medical meniscus. The medial meniscus is attached to that ligament and so it is not unusual to injure both at the same time. The other possibility is that you have injured the anterior cruciate ligament. This also can go along with the first injury. The lack of movement of the knee could be from this or a tear in the meniscus that has folded over on itself. Complicating all of this is your arthritis.Rheumatoid of course is a joint destructive disease of the autoimmune system. So you will find out all of this with an MRI. Hopefully you do not have a full blown knee problem of having injured all 3.

Injured while in Delayed Entry Program?

Go see a doctor. If this can be resolved before your ship date, you should be good to go. You may have to go through MEPS again, but as long as you're still functional it won't be an issue.

I wouldn't approach your recruiter until after you've seen a doctor. Everything hinges on when you'll be physically ready to undergo basic training. If the doc says you'll be out for a month, tell the recruiter because if you have surgery he may need to schedule you for MEPS again. If the doc says you'll be out for three months minimum...tell the recruiter so he can push back your ship date. Bottom line: don't approach your recruiter until you have a good idea of the timeline for recovery.

I wish you a speedy recovery and the best of luck.

How do I know if i have injured my MCL?

Inner knee pain can indicate a sprain of the MCL but could also be tendinitis. I would suggest you take it easy for a couple of weeks (I know that is hard being a gymnast because every gymnast I treat never wants to stop). Place an ice bag on the area that hurts for 15 minutes at least once a day for the next 2 weeks, and especially do this ASAP after finishing your activity for the day if you continue with gymnastics. If the pain persists for the next 2-3 wks even though you have decreased your activity then go see an orthopedic doctor to assess your knee. There is a test that can be done called a valgus stress test to determine if you have an MCL injury.

Knee injury causing issues with ankle and foot?

My husband slipped on some ice last week and has a torn ligament (mcl). The knee has been swollen but each day the swelling seems to spread down his leg, ankle and now foot. Today he got up and the inside of his foot is bruised. He's been using a crutch but has been putting some pressure on his foot but we don't know if its the pressure he's putting on it or if he may have sprained his ankle and not know because the pain has been so severe with the knee. It's really weird. Why all of a sudden would his foot bruise and swell? Or could the knee injury be causing something else? He goes to the Doc tomorrow. Any info would be helpful... FYI he's been taking an inflammatory and keeping it elevated as much as possible with ice packs but nothing is working the swelling is worse. could the sudden swelling cause the foot to bruise?

Women who had an ACl injury: are your quadriceps overdeveloped?

There are many, many theories as to why women are more prone to ACL injuires...mostly, the one's you've discussed already:

1. imbalance between quads and hamstrings
2. the large Q angle between the femur and tibia (because of the wider hip)

...there are several others including:
3. underdeveloped "core" which fails to resist deceleration
4. hormonal influences (women are more likely to injure their ACL during certain times of their cycle)

...so yes, there is certainly validity behind your theory...but its not a new theory at all...but very observant of you...congrats.
