Did Only 1 Minute Of Stoppage Time At End Of Us-begium Game Seem Wrong

Do recruiters get paid for getting you to enlist?

Now I and probably everyone else has heard this rumor. And I never paid it much thought since it seemed like BS and most people I know in the military dispelled it (though I never heard a recruiter deny it, but I don't know any recruiters in my personal life, and I would no want to ask a recruiter I don't personally know.)
But the thing that got me skeptical is that I heard from a very reputable source that they do indeed get paid to get you to enlist and everything in your contract is subject to change and not to listen to anything they say. My uncle told me this (he enlisted in the mid 1950s in the Navy after dropping out of college and got his B.S., M.S. and PHD and MD while in the Navy and retired an Admiral). He told me recruiters will say anything to get you to sign up fast and they do get paid bonuses for each recruits they get. And he told me despite getting just about every degree known to man for free while in the Navy it was the worst mistake of his life and he just stayed in to get a high pension (I think he retired in the 90s) and that he only went to school so much to get away from doing military stuff since they were willing to pay you to get advanced degrees.
He also told me that half of the people you will be with are convicts who only had the option of military time or prison and that you have to worry more about your fellow shipmates than the enemy.

Is any of this true? or is he just trying to scare me out of joining the military? Or since he is retired so long ago is any of this relevant today?
I really want to join but most people I am related to who have joined various branches and even became lifers seem to hate it and basically just say they put up with it for the pension? It seems like a really good thing to do but I hear so many bad stories and not just from anti-war hippy type people, from people who were actually in the military?

Who will win the 2018 FIFA semifinals, England or Croatia? Why?

England have been on fire in this 2018 WC . With just one defeat in this tournament , ( Group stage match , against Belgium ) , England has given us the hint that they might take the Cup home ! while they too had to rely on a penalty shootout in order to reach the quarterfinal, momentum is now with ENGLAND after Gareth Southgate's men backed that up with a much more comprehensive 2-0 win over Sweden. The same can't be said for Croatia, who needed spot kicks to beat both Denmark and Russia, two of the less fancied teams in the knockout stages, just to reach the top four. But CROATIA have a creative edge, with England lacking playmakers of Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic's calibre. Their goalie , Danijel Subasic , is crucial to his nation’s hopes as he has been one of the best in the tournament .So , I would say it is a really close one to call , but the momentum and confidence is all with England and it’s Young charges. Croatia will need all hands on deck to shut out Harry Kane .I would end with — “May the best team win !!”Thanks !

Can you tell me a little bit 'bout educational system in America? What I need to do to become a good student?

Not all US high schools are as bad as that other poster made them out to be. I should know, I went to one. The problem most of the bad schools have isthat they are filled with stupid poor people. Avoid inner city schools.

In general what you want to do to be a good student is just make the teachers think you are trying hard. If you do that they will grade you easier and give you the benfit of the doubt in most circumstances.
Yes, you shoucl participate in extracurricular activities. They look good on applications and they keep you busy so you dont fall in with a crowd of drug addict losers.

Where do two sided angel coins originate?

The Lucky Angel Coin Legend

Legend has it that anyone who owns an Angel Coin is promised love, money, and happiness. The original "Angel Coin" was minted by Augustine Dupre, a nobleman who was commissioned by King Louis XVI in 1792 to design the new monetary currency for France. A firm believer in the power of guardian angels, Dupre incorporated this theme into his design using a mold of unknown material created by an alchemist known only as Lestat.

Years later, when Dupre fell out of favor with the King and was condemned to death, legend has it that he was saved from the guillotine when the Coin he carried as a talisman reflected the sunlight in his jail cell so brilliantly one day that the guard on duty broke into tears at the sight, unlocked the cell door, and let Dupre make his escape.

From that moment on, Dupre's creation became known as the "Angel Coin". He considered it a blessing for his life-long belief in angels. The next 200 years are filled with wondrous stories attributed to this talisman, including many claims of lives saved. Fisherman never went to sea without them. Most French pilots during WWI always packed one in their kits. Even Napolean carried the "Angel Coin" in his vest pocket (until one evening in 1815 on the verge of a great battle in Belgium, he arrogantly flung the coin into a nearby river which, not too coincidently, marked the starting point of his tragic demise).

In fact, the power of these coins was considered so great that Hermann Goering, the engineer of Hitler's evil vision, ordered his soldiers to round up all they could find which he then had buried in a secret location that's never been uncovered. Goering's obsession with good and evil was fanatical, and it's well documented that he devoted a great deal of Germany's resources to his futile search for another source of power --the Holy Grail.

More common, though, are the claims of ordinary people, whose lonely or troubled and often desperate lives have been re-made by the "Angel Coin" talisman. Skeptics call these remarkable transformations "coincidences". Believers call them "rewards for faith".

Based on exact specifications of the original "Angel Coins", the current re-minted supply includes a melting of many of the same ingredients as found in the few remaining originals. Each "Angel Coin" made today includes a portion of the same characteristics as the original "Angel Coins."

What are some of the Greatest last minute Comebacks in the history of soccer?

Mother of comebacks - Mancity v/s QPR final day of 2011-12 EPL season. It wasnt just a come back into a match it was a League winner. As it was final day of the league all the matches kicked off at the same time. All eyes were set on two teams sitting on top of the league on equal points Man city and Manchester United (not mine i was looking for Arsenal trying to secure CL spot) . Man City were on top on goal difference criteria. Now lets take a jump 85 min in the matches. Thats when Arsenal had secured third place, now i was comfortable and switched to City - Utd drama.90th minute - Utd were looking all set to claim the title with 0-1 lead against Sunderland and City trailing 1-2 against QPR (a team fighting to avoid relegation). Time added in 3min for utd match and 5 min for City match.92nd minute - While Rooney was trying to waste time along the corner flag, Dzeko scores from a corner to make the scoreline 2-2. Still the work is not done. If the score line remains same Man utd are Champions.93rd  minute - Referee blows the whistle to mark the end of Sunderland-Utd match. Some utd players and fans are celebrating already, remaining lot knows its not over. Utd have successfully done their bit and rest remains on City and QPR. 94th minute - While at Etihad Stadium Aguero had some other plans. Around 15 sec after the final whistle of Utd match aguero scores for City. I was out of my seat even my friend(utd fan) is out of his seat, though for entirely different reasons. As a neutral it was entertaining and bind blowing - i was shocked, my friend was also shocked and it took him few minutes to realize what has happened, before the curses started flowing out.

Which one team you feel should have qualified for quarter finals in FIFA world cup 2018?

A2A.When it comes to being close, no question Japan was almost there. But their -mindset? mentality? call it any way you want it -of going for the kill at any occasion costed them the game. And call me heartless if you want, but I have no sympathy for teams which cannot manage a nearly-won game. So no Japan for me.So I vote for Spain.Yes they had a poor game, and after scoring on a lucky bounce (unlucky for the poor Russian player), they seemed content with unproductive lateral passes, as in “these guys will never score on us”. But since Russia equalized before the end of the first half, they had yet another half, plus the 30 min. extra time, to wake up to reality and win it.And then, the rather obvious limitations of Diego Costa -a player who shares team scoring responsabilities with the much more talented Antoine Griezmann, and not long ago was shown the door by Chelsea - came to the forefront. In a more open game, Spain can score with some inspiration from their midfielders -Isco, chino Silva, Asensio when he’s called - but when a team like Russia closes all the paths, you have to pray for a poacher to capture a loose ball and send it in. And Costa is pretty poor at that. Then the penalties are merely a roulette. I’m glad for Russia after all the silly and unfounded badmouthing coming from American media, but Spain deserved better.

Which is worse: (1) Jim Joyce's call to take away a Perfect Game or (2) referee Koman Coulibaly's call to take away the USA's World Cup 2010 go-ahead goal?

This is an example of the worst soccer fan misunderstandings of what soccer referees watch for and call in games.  No one besides Malian referee Koman Coulibaly knows what he saw, but every partisan is prepared to substitute their judgment for that of a trained, experienced, competent referee.  The fans' disappointment is entirely understandable, but their ignorance of the Laws of the Game is no justification for this complaint. The fans' assumption that Coulibaly nullified the goal for US player Maurice Edu being offside is hogwash. The fans' complaints that other US players were being fouled are immaterial. In the period leading up to the 2010 World Cup, FIFA emphasized the importance of referees' attention to foul play in the crowded area in front of the goal.  Referees were also reminded to watch for transitory pulling and holding, especially when the foul was applied only long enough for the offender to throw off an opponent's stride and cause him to lose a step. In the video, we see Coulibaly set the free kick location and move the defender back to the required distance from the kick, and then, show his whistle to the kicker as a means of clearly instructing the kicker to wait for a whistle to take the kick, so that Coulibaly could move to where he needed to be to watch the ensuing action.  Coulibaly was in perfect position and paying attention to what he was going to need to see.  Edu, in blue, is at the left of the image, starting from a standstill in the Penalty Arc.Now, Law 10 says:A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line,  between the goalposts and under the crossbar, provided that no  infringement of the Laws of the Game has been committed previously by  the team scoring the goal.Note the last clause of that sentence.I can't see clearly any foul play by Edu in the videos that I saw, but clearly Edu somehow ran all the way around and got ahead of the defender who was also moving toward the goal.  Any experienced referee would look at the relative progress of Edu and the defender and wonder why Edu so suddenly and easily overtook the defender. My conjecture is that Coulibaly saw Edu hold back the defender in order to score the goal.  The foul would have violated Law 10 and made the goal invalid. The fouls against the US players could indeed have occurred, but those fouls had no effect on the play as it came out and were thus immaterial to this judgement.
