Did The Biggest Genocide That Ever Happened In This World Occurred In The U.s Against The American

Is the genocide of the Native Americans the worst in history?

Simply put, no. The basic definition of genocide is the deliberate killing of a large group of people. Many Native Americans from both North and South America were purposely killed by the invading countries (such as Spain, France, Portugal, Holland, Britain, and later the young United States). But the vast majority died from diseases that were mostly new to them. The first explorers caused some of the biggest devastation by introducing contagious diseases for which the native inhabitants had no immunity. In some instances the initial explorers found great societies, but by the time later ships arrived with intent upon settlement, they found scraggly tribal populations; much of the native population, if not most in some areas, had already died off from infectious diseases. This suited the expansionist intents of the invading countries, but in most cases it was an unexpected result of their contact with the natives, not a deliberate genocide.A good look at what the Americas looked like before foreign contact can be found in the book 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by Charles C. Mann. As for the likely biggest, start with the Nazi exterminations, followed by Stalin and his starvation programs. The genocides in Cambodia, Armenia, and Rwanda all likely saw more deliberate killing than what took place in the Americas.ins": mܰ1V

Who attempted genocide during World War II? Does genocide occur anywhere in the world today? If yes, where?

Hard question. Could it have been the Nazis who gassed/killed/murdered over 10 million people?
There also was the genocide in Armenia by Turkey.

Explain to me why the Armenian genocide occurred?

The presence of Armenia on the Armenian plateau was a major obstacle to the unification of all Turkish speaking peoples in a Turkish state extending to Central Asia. The outbreak of WWI provided the Ottoman Empire (the ruling empire in Turkey ) with an opportunity to fulfill their dream of PAN-Turkism by exterminating Armenians all-together. Exterminating the entire race and leaving no Armenian heirs to guard the Armenian nation. The Ottoman Empire plotted the mass-evacuation and extermination of Armenians from Western Turkey and Eastern Armenia and executed these plans without disdain.

During the first six months of the war it was clear that the Young Turk (dominant party) government was ill disposed toward its Armenian citizens. Since August 1914, the Young Turk government had formed a paramilitary organization called the Special Organization units. As it became clear later the purpose of these units was the extermination of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire . The earlier fears of Armenians were to be justified. Turkish army officials, anxious to find a scapegoat for the humiliating defeat in the war, charged the Armenians as being untrustworthy to the Ottoman government.

On the night of April 23-24 1915, hundreds of Armenian intellectuals and community leaders were summarily arrested in the capital of the Ottoman Empire . The massive round-up resulted in the imprisonment of most Armenian politicians, priests, scientists, lawyers, doctors and writers of the Ottoman Empire . Shortly thereafter, the prisoners were deported to the inner provinces where nearly all of them were murdered by the authorities. Approximately 5000 community leaders were eliminates in this fashion. The Armenians were alarmed by the arrest of their community leaders. The Armenian deputies of the Ottoman Parliament expressed their anxiety to the government. These two deputies were themselves deported and assassinated.

Why did the genocide in Cambodia happen?

the previous answer gave a good basic history, but here are more things that need to be explained:
although the original leaders were French educated(which makes sense , because basically the whole of SE asia were french colonies), Cambodia , along with Laos were also "kindred sopirits with their neighbors the chinese.(Prince Sihanouk's daughter actually visited China in the early 50's to observe one of the many programs that Mao had instituted(the Great Leap Forward etc.) and it is not too far to conclude that the idea of a classless society(read Communist) could appeal to the people that didn't like the royalty or the "American" influenced Govt.

it is easy to compare the rise of the Khmer Rouge to that of the "Red Guards" of the Chinese "Cultural Revolution":
You take (Largely) the youth of the country(who generally are either illiterate or uneducated) Give them weapons, and give them a target(the intellectuals, the doctors and the upper class) and make them enemies(in china they were class enemies), Root them out of their homes and jobs for "re-education"(which means Forced Labor and Torture, and killing)
The main difference between the KR and the Cultural Revolution was that in china, Mao was Creating his own Deification and getting rid of enemies(all the while keeping the peoples minds on something else other than blaming Mao for their Misery ). He could , at his leisure, Control the level of Terrorism of his people.
The KR had no control at all .Pol Pot although their leader, had no sense of administration nor could he control anything outside of Pnom Penn (i know its spelled wrong!)
The event continues basically because there was no contact with the outside world(Laos has its own problems with the Pathet Lao, Vietnam was still dealing with the Americans) the events only ended when Vietnam invaded due to the fact that the KR were threatening to move their ideas into Vietnam, and thus destabilizing the whole region.
