Did The Football Team Win Today

What does it mean for a football team to win out?

It means they won all their games during a particular season.....

Should I try out for the football team?

Yes, I highly encourage you to join your high school football team next season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a girl playing high school football, even on an all-boys football team.

Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at quarterback. Your height gives you the potential to become an elite high school quarterback.

Remember, the best way to prove yourself is through actions, not words. My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this upcoming (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch quarterback in high school football, who could go on to play college football.

By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your junior, and especially senior, year of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 2 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

Did Your Team Win Today?

Was it a great game or if they lost did it suck?

Atlanta had a great series against Cincinnati winning the series 3 - 0 :)

(Yeah yeah I know he was out at first on the pick off but those things happen so let it go ...)

Thanks and thumbs up to all who answer ... just give me time to get back and read the answers.

Every so often, someone will set up a hypothetical about how a college team would do against a professional team in the same sport. Frequently, this comes up in the U.S. when some college team looks historically good and some professional team looks simultaneously historically bad. For example, a few years ago, when the University of Kentucky had what some experts thought was one of the best college basketball teams of all time and the Philadelphia 76ers were trying to lose as many games as possible, there was speculation about whether or not UK would beat the 76ers. People have also thrown this out for football: could Alabama beat the Browns, or whatever.I usually default to the assumption that any professional team would beat the best college team, especially in a sport like football, since football is probably the sport that requires the most complicated teamwork, the most depth, and is the sport that is least susceptible to a single elite player getting hot and winning the game singlehandedly. Even the worst professional team is 100% composed of professional players, which equates to roughly the top 1% of all college players. Meanwhile, the greatest college football teams might see a dozen players become NFL mainstays.So, based on that, I’d say it’s hard to see an NCAA football team beating a CFL team, since a CFL team is still composed of professional players. You might suppose that CFL teams are inferior in talent to NFL teams, and that’s more or less true. But there are plenty of highly successful Division I-A football players who fail to make it in Canada. For example, 2006 Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith washed out with the Montreal Allouettes after only a handful of games - Smith was a top college player who nevertheless couldn’t make the jump to professional football no matter where it was. There are plenty of others who’ve met the same fate.Regarding which rules were used - using CFL rules would give the CFL team that much more of an advantage. The subtle differences between American and Canadian football would take some time for the NCAA team to adjust to, and they’d be playing on their heels for a while because of it. Playing under NCAA rules would mitigate this a bit, but keep in mind that about 50% of all CFL players are NCAA veterans who are probably still familiar enough with NCAA rules (the other 50% of CFL players would have played college football in Canada).

Our football team won 3/4 of the games that it played. it won 12 games. How many games did it play?

3/4 = 12/x
3x=4*12 or 3x=48
x=16
they played 16 games

Is it hard to be a kicker on a football team?

Having played high school football, let me answer this. By no means is kick or punting a physically demanding position.

BUT, if you go on the football field, you will have to be ready to tackle or hit someone. That part is hard. Kickoffs and punts always have a return, and the kicker has to play the role of safety. So in addition to kicking the ball, you would have to learn basic tackling skills

Now, for kicking the ball, I'd suggest you get a tee and a football. Set up on the 20 yard line, and kick the ball thru the uprights. You make it? Good. Move to the 25, try again. The ball could be set up anywhere between the hash marks inside the 40yd line. Test your limits as a kicker. Oh, by the way, you only get 3-4 steps on a kick.

Ooh you want to try punting the ball? All right, try to kick the ball 70 yards with a tight spiral. In the game, the ball is snapped 20 yards back, then you, the punter, gets 3 steps to punt the ball as far as you can, and as high as you can. That requires a nice, tight spiral and a good arch to the kick. 45 yards from the line of scrimage is a good punt, plus if you can make it hang in the air for 4+ seconds you did well.

If you don't make these goals initially, practice. Try out for other sports, soccer in particular, but track or basketball would help you get stronger, too. If you work hard enough, you can do it.

It’s a team sport, so every member of the team should be involved in the game. That means you should not depend only on one or two players. If you are up against a team not as good as your’s then that one or two good players can do the work. But it does not work against a comparatively stronger team.FOOTBALL IS A SIMPLE GAME BUT PLAYING SIMPLE IS NOT EASYFirst of all if you want to take control of the game then you should control the ball. Don’t let the ball control your team. Keep the possession. More the possession, more you will dominate the game. More you dominate, more will be the chances your team will get to create goal scoring opportunities.It all depends on how your team practice. What are the tactics your team practice.To keep possession the passing, vision and positioning of your players should be good. Your team can achieve that practicing POSSESSION PLAY everyday during practice session. Start it with two or three touch passing and as your team members master that, then move to ONE TOUCH PASSING.There are a lot of other tactics but for now I guess this will help.

Now that’s an interesting question.Usually, people ask “Could Alabama beat the worst team in the NFL,” and the answer is always no.But could today’s Crimson Tide beat Joe Namath’s 1969 Jets? Yes, I think they could. Today’s college stars are bigger and stronger and faster than pro teams of the Sixties and Seventies. Think of the Purple People Eaters, the great defensive line of the Vikings. Alan Page and Jim Marshall would be FAR too small to start for Texas A & M or Ohio State or even some good high schools today! In 1975, rookie Jack Lambert was regarded as the best linebacker in football. Today, if young Jack Lambert tried out for Oklahoma or Clemson, he’d be considered too small and too slow.In the first Super Bowl, Forrest Gregg was a starting offensive lineman for the Packers. He stood 6′4″ and weighed 250 pounds. Today, the Alabama right tackle is 6′7″ and 315 pounds!!!Similarly, people often ask if Serena Williams could beat Federer. The answer is, Hell no! But could she beat the Rod Laver of 1968 or the Arthur Ashe of 1974? I think she might. Seriously, today’s women swimmers are faster than gold medalist Don Schollander was in 1964. So, a modern female champion like Serena is probably as muscular and strong as some male champs of my childhood.

The following statistics from Advanced NFL Stats (specifically the Win Probability Calculator) don't directly answer your question (I don't have access to the raw historical data), but might help in giving you an idea:Baseline: Win Probability for a team that wins the coin toss and chooses to receive and  starts their first drive on their own 20 yd line (common starting place): 0.52Win Probability for a team that immediately found themselves down a field goal  (3 pts) and possessing the ball at their own 20 yard line: 0.40Win Probability for a team that immediately found themselves down a touchdown (7 pts) and possessing the ball at their own 20 yard line: 0.28This gives you a rough estimation that being first to score (with the points coming via a FG) increases your win probability by 0.08 and that scoring first via a TD/XP increases your win probability by 0.20. Of course if the opposing team answers with a similar score of their own on the very next drive (say they run even 5 minutes off the clock), that increase is totally wiped out.

There is no mechanism in college athletics to distribute talent very much.A player is free to sign at any school that wants to take the player as long as the player is academically eligible as long as the school doesn't place more than 25 newcomers on scholarship in a year and doesn't exceed 85 players on scholarship.If the 25 best high school seniors in a year all choose to play for Ohio State and Ohio State has room for them and they are eligible and the Buckeyes want them, they are free to go to Ohio State.Each conference negotiates its own television agreements so a player is more likely to know top teams and want to play for them because they see them on TV more often. Top schools are more likely to play before larger crowds and play schedules against other highly recognized team. If you wanted to play for Florida but Florida didn't offer you a spot but conference mate Georgia did, the chance to play Florida every year makes it easier to choose to play for Georgia than Central Florida.
