Did U.s And Nato Provoked Russia To Invade Ukraine

Did NATO provoke Russia in Ukraine?

Provoked, but not in a traditional sense as the source of the current conflict goes 23 years in the past. The West forgot the lessons of the past and have the mess we are in right now. After the WW2, Germany was defeated, economically devastated, partitioned and humiliated… Just like Germany after the WW1. To not repeat the horror of the WW2, the West instead of punishing Germany helped to rebuild it. Marshall plan helped economy recover, education about Holocaust allowed German citizens understand what they have done wrong, integration in European political and economic community helped to soothe the pain of defeat and create a new identity. Now Germany is one of the richest and pacifistic country in EuropeAfter the Cold War, Russia was defeated, economically devastated, partitioned and humiliated… just like Germany after the WW2 or the Russian Empire after the WW1. The West did nothing to help Russia to live through this ordeal. Boris Yeltsin was westernophille (and drunk) wanting to emulate Peter the Great in opening the window to the West. In 1992, he asked for Russia to become the member of NATO positioning Russia as the most important partner to the USA. In answer he received cold no. When Yeltsin tried to make economic reforms, he received Chicago Boys in help. When he asked for loans for Russia to stay solvent, he was ignored… There are many examples of it. It does not mean that Russia was not at fault. It was. It just was stupid to except for Russia to transform into a vibrant market democracy when it never had aspirations nor experience to become one. As the result, "democracy" and "liberalism" became cursing words in Russia and by choosing Putin, Russians stick to what have worked in the past. The fate of Russia would be different if the West and NATO treated Russian Federation not as an ex-foe, but as a friend in need help from the beginning.

If Russia "invades" another country like it did in Ukraine, will it mean war?

There really isn't a country on Russia's border that is not in the CIS, EU, or NATO. Even NATO countries are very weary of Russian paramilitary groups, so I doubt Russia could pull off what they did in Ukraine again without launching a full military invasion. Last year for example, a Russian biker gang Night Wolves was refused entry into Poland and turned away at the border. No one trusts a group of Russians farther than they can throw it. Young people in Poland are already preparing for war:Russia won't be able to successfully do what it did in Ukraine again, unless it does it against one of their allies which would be insane and make Russia even more isolated. The only targets then are EU nations like Finland, and Sweden, or even NATO+EU members like Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, or just NATO members like Turkey and Norway.   In other words, everyone bordering, or within 500km of Russian troops is already covered by a defensive treaty. It would mean the next world war if Russia tried an invasion or even somehow pulled off a militia-backed pro-Russia revolt in a NATO or EU nation. I don't think the militia-backed pro-Russia option is even possible anymore because no one will allow a group of hundreds of Russian paramilitaries into their country anymore. Edit:For those of you who don't believe Russian troops were involved in Ukraine, even Russian state media admits it:Putin acknowledges Russian military serviceman were in Crimea

Will the United States intervene if Russia invades Ukraine?

I've read articles in the past saying that a war between the two would not happen but now as the tension rises, what will the US do if or even when the Russians invade?

Should Russia invade the EU and take it all?

Thats a crazy thing to say. The EU should be punished for its sanctions against Russia but not by a Russian invasion. LOL.

Russia have their hands full helping stem the Middle Eastern crisis that the west started. Russia's mission is to stabiize the region. I think they have to give up on getting rid of terrorists and extremists and let the U.S. worry about it. It's their mess anyway and Europe's.

Russia should just worry about protecting its own borders from NATO and ISIS and its own Muslim problem.

As of 2018 can Russia invade the United States?

They are more liked around the world than the Americans are, and they are powerful aswell. They hacked the American election and elected trump so cant they, say, hack norad aswell and other radars and invade?

Why is the USA and most of NATO constantly provoking Russia?

A2A, thanks Predrag V.Why is the USA and most of NATO constantly provoking Russia? The phenomen is not constant… But nevertheless happen on a regular basis, out of shaddy situations that we may sometimes have a hard time to evaluate the quality, veracity, and causality. Then, it mostly happens because a designated ennemy bolsters the diplomatic cohesion (and the military industry) of the Western block, and the “war on terror” is not enough to do that, for the ennemy is hard to designate as a single visible entity. Russia is your ideal boogeyman, for both legitimate and immaginaries reasons.Legitimate (but encouraged) reasons : Russia under Putin is prompt to show its strength, which leads the Western block to do the same, which leads Putin to do the same, which leads the Western block to do the same. Vicious circle that ultimately… benefit both parties rulers and elites, at the expense of the Russian and neighbouring Peoples.Immaginary reasons : Russia threatens the West. No, Russia doesn’t threaten the West, for its policy is one of regional influence and self affirmation in the World affairs, and certainly not one to military agress the West. Toying with the U.S “democracy” is fair game, considerating that the U.S never hesitated to toy with Russia in the 90s. Playing nasty diplomatics is similarly fair game between both countries. But the Western Europe has nothing to fear from Russia. On the contrary, more cooperation between Western Europe and Russia is likely to be wished by both parties for obvious stability and economy related reasons. But that is not something that the U.S gonna let happen easily, and they’ll do anything in their power to keep the summa divisio between both parties.

US involvement in Ukraine/Russia conflict 2014?

While the Soviet Union was still in existence, Russia and the Ukraine were both a part of the Soviet Union. To stop unrest in Ukraine, Russia donated a area called "Crimea" to Ukraine in 1954. Now to what is happening today. Ukraine was set to sign a economic deal with the European Union. The pro-Russian president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was set to sign this deal but at the last moment said he would never sign such a deal and decided instead to turn to Russia for economic bail outs. Huge Pro-European protests broke out across the country, especially in the capital of Kiev. Ukrainian parliament voted that the President can no longer stay in power, Viktor Yanukovych, fled to Russia.

Well, Crimea, made up of mostly Russian speaking citizens, started there own protests and unrest saying that the new Ukrainian government would suppress there rights. Russia claims they have a right to send in troops to Crimea to defend the Russian lineage people and defend there naval base in the area, which was leased to them by the Ukrainian government several years ago. However, a 1994 treaty agreement says that it is ILLEGAL for Russia to violate Ukrainian sovereignty, this is the same agreement in which Ukraine choose to give up its nukes, and that the United States and the United Kingdom are suppose to defend Ukrainian sovereignty.

Going from there, western nations have not expressed there wish to go to war with Russia. A event like this happened once in Georgia where Russia invaded a small, southern country a few years ago. Georgia is a nation that has expressed there wish to join both NATO and the EU. When Russia invaded, the western nations did not intervene militarily. However, the United States placed Military aircraft at air fields and placed american soldiers in certain cities, this caused the Russian military to halt its advance and kept them from attacking the Georgian air force.

Something along this lines is much more likely then a war against Russia.
