Did You Take Any Headshots In Nyc

How long do headshots take?

Of course it depends on the photographer, NYC nailed it. Your session should be an hour or two. If I had a photog shoot me for 15 minutes when I've just paid him $500 or more, I would not be very happy. You will have some conversation to put you at ease, there will be some clothing changes and likely hair & make up to go along with that... these things take time. Any decent photog will not rush you.

I think when you're spending this kind of money, you need to investigate a lot before choosing who you go with. Check out their websites, ask about them in message boards online to see if customers are happy with their work or if anyone has even heard of them. Then when you narrow it down to a handfull, make a few calls and see who you jive with best. There's bound to be some you have chemistry with and some you don't. If you have a good chemistry going with your photog, he or she will be ablt to get better shots out of you.

good luck!

Where can I get free headshots in NYC?

no such thing, but on my website in an article called How to Write a Cover Letter, Resume, etc, there is instruction in how to make your own head shot. They don't need to be updated every year, unless something has happened to alter your appearance. Every two or three years is enough as long as you still look like your picture. The link is below.

Where can i get my headshots printed?

Any advice where in NYC can i print them without having to pay a lot like reproductions i also want to print 8 of them. and i need fast turn-around time because i have an audition next week. Also i would love to get a matte finish.I'm willing to spend about $60. thankyou.

I am getting a headshot but I have braces...?

How much longer are you going to have your braces? If it's for a couple years, just go ahead and get headshots with your braces and then when you get them off, you can get new ones (which you should do anyways. As a teenager, your look is going to change quite a bit in even a couple years).

As far as smiling, you should be doing a wide range of expressions in your shoot, from serious to open and happy, so there should be quite a few smiling and non-smiling (or half smiling) shots to pick from. If you're using these for theatre, the traditional theatrical headshot is usually not a big cheesy grin anyway - those are for the commercial headshots when you're trying to land a dentyne gig!

Be sure to note though, if you're currently auditiong for things with your braces, you don't necessarily want to hide that in your picture or else you'll be falsely representing yourself as you are now.

Be sure to find a good photographer that you're comfortable with, s/he should be able to help you as well. Then, just look over your proofs and go with the one you like best! Or, if you have an agent, have them pick the shot.

Good luck!

How can I get free headshots in the Atlanta area?

1) Craig's List.
2) Photography classes at university.

Cost: These days with digital, headshots should NOT cost upwards of $500. Last time I looked, "average" in the LA area was $300. Which *I* still think is tooooo much.

I got my headshots done from a guy on Craig's List who was looking to get into doing headshots as a photog, so we did a TFP = Trade For Pics = I volunteered to be used as a guinea pig, and I got a cd of the session.

Doing that, all it "cost" me was an afternoon, and I got ONE stellar photo out of it, which I use as my "main" Theatrical Headshot, that people RAVE about. (I got other decent shots, also, but the one I chose to use IS amazing.)

How much would you pay for a professional headshot?

In Toronto there are several "go to" headshot photographers for actors: The Leyes brothers, Helen Tansy, Pierre Gautreau... The pricing is in the $350 -$700 range. Model testing rates are closer to $400.

Headshot Question! How much do you pay for prints?

Getting your headshot printed at a place like Wal-mart or Walgreens isn't unprofessional, as long as the product looks good. That's what I did before I moved to NYC. Here, though, you can get your headshot mass-printed for closer to $1 a print at places like Reproductions and ModernAge, provided you need 50 or 100 copies of your headshot (which you eventually will if you keep at it). Many places like that will do orders over the internet or phone.
