Difference Between Guitar Strings And Which Should I Get

What are the differences between a 12 string and a 6 string guitar?

The primary difference is the number of strings. Each of the usual 6 strings are paired with another that are either tuned an octave up or in unison.   Although 6 strings and 12 string acoustics can share nearly the same outward appearance a 12 string is generally going to have a heavier build to counteract the extra stress from the strings. The 12 string neck is also moderately wider but not twice as wide by any means.   6 string and 12 string electrics can generally share the same body with minor adjustments for the wider neck.Above shows a "twin" set of Mirage F series guitars. F12C is the 12 string, F6C is the 6 string. Same body shape but different inside. **Oops... the 12 string headstock shown is for my C series guitar, not my F series. Don't know how to edit pics in quora.

Is there a big difference between .010 and .011 gauge guitar strings?

There will be more tension in the strings, and some players like that. As an aside, since there is more mass in the string they will put out a slightly hotter signal to the amp.

It comes down to what you're comfortable playing. It also has a lot to do with the scale length of the guitar.

But don't feel like you have to go to a higher gauge. Randy Rhodes played .010's. Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) used to use .011's and .012's. Finally one day, BB King asked him "Son, why are you using them big ol' strings on your guitar?". Billy's response was something along the lines of getting a better tone, to which BB replied "I don't do that, I just turn my amp up!". Billy's playing with .009's now.

Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) strings up with .008-.032 and tunes down to C#. I think his tone is pretty heavy!

Just remember, a lot of your sound is in your fingers!

Good luck.

What is the difference between bass and guitar ??

The diffrence is the number of strings, Guitars have six strings, bass guitar has four thick strings that have a much lower frequency thus the title of bass guitar,
Bass guitars tend to be bigger, longer, and heavier than six strings,
You can learn either without the other, I play guitar so I can also play bass, however it doesnt really work both ways, guitar players can play both because bass is primarily single notes, bass players have to learn guitar because it employs more complex chords and techniques,
Not to say bass is easy or that a guitar player can play bass better than a bassist
