When does Amazon charge me when I pre-order something?
Hello Lol, If you live in the UK you will not be charged for any item whether it is pre-ordered or not until the item is despatched. If for example the DVD is released on 1st September you should receive it on the 1st and you will be charged on 31st August. I would assume that Amazon in other countries do the same. Poseidon

No, usually $5 down for a pre-order, and then pay the rest when you go to pick it up. That's why I don't understand people who don't pre-order. Not only do you ensure you will get a copy of the game the day it comes out, but you also get whatever pre-order bonus the store you're getting it from has. All for the same price as just buying it. Edit: They have the extra stuff like pre-order bonuses because they want your money NOW. The sooner they can get your cash the better, and if you bothered to pre-order a game then they can be pretty certain they have the $60 (Or whatever form of currency they are in your area).

As I work in Amazon's billing department, I think I am qualified to answer this question.Customer is only charged when their order ships out from fulfillment center. When ever customer places an order in Amazon, bank is contacted to ensure customer has adequate balance in account.Bank then checks and if there is sufficient balance in accounts debits the amount. However, Amazon's payment software only accepts the amount when the item ships out from the fulfillment center.This is the general procedure followed. In case if pre order, Bank debits the amount once the order is placed. However, if the item is not shipping out within 3 to 5 working days after placing an order amount is reverted back to your bank as the payment is not accepted.It will again be charged once the item is released and ships out. If you don't have the adequate balance in your account when the item is preparing to ship out order will be held due to decline of payment.I hope this helps. Any queries or doubts please let me know.

Well, to start off with, you won't be "charged" for the money until the order enters the shipping phase. So if you WERE using a credit card, they would just charge it with the lesser amount. The gift cards are tied to your account with Amazon, so it's no hassle to just add that small amount back to your account. You should notice it the next time you go to order something. The site should ask you if you want to apply X amount of dollars to the order. The first person's answer is wrong. You will always get the pre-order price guarantee. If/when the price drops you will get the lowest price. I've seen it happen and I've had it happen to me. If the price does change, you will get a notification email.
Am i charge sale tax by Amazon.com?
WOW...just WOW! Question and answers. First, Amazon does not have the authority to levy sales tax (meaning Amazon isn't charging you anything...maybe collecting it but not charging it). Now, did you pay CA sales tax? Well that is a different story. LOOK AT THE INVOICE/RECEIPT! It really is that simple. Now , if they didn't charge sales tax do you owe "Use Tax"...in most cases yes you do. But, most states do not have a means to determine this...I know Oregon and Washington do have access to credit card records (not sure about CA). Hope this helps????? How do Amazon pre-orders work?
I want to get a PS4 this year, and with the holidays pretty close, I understand that I should do it now while units are still available. I never pre-ordered with Amazon before, so I want to make sure I have knowledge on how it works to make sure I don't mess up. Do I have to pay right away or wait for the system to come out?
Does Amazon only charge you once item is shipped?
Considering out of stock items and items that are "pre-order"...Amazon never charges you until your item ships. They will not charge you anything until December 21st. I have pre-ordered things and was not charged till it shipped. Also it does clearly say on their site that you will not be charged till it ships.
