Do Australians Of European Background Treat Muslim Immigrants With Warmth And Respect

How do Australians view Indians in Australia? Do they respect them and welcome them into Australian culture?

Here from an Indian Immigrant’s point of view. I moved here to Sydney approximately 2.5 years back to have a fresh start in career. I started here at an Australian company and my team was composed of huge number of Aussies. I got help from all my Aussie (and non-aussie) teammates to get settled. One of my team mates immediately started asking me about my food preferences, and pointed out all the suburbs in Sydney by the food specialization. The other team mates helped me with the Aussie english. One of the teammates helped me make my first Vegemite sandwich. And an other team mate showed me what a TimTam slam was.I have so many examples where they have helped me blend in the culture. I used to be a person who wasn’t much of a talker. My team mates took me for several karaoke sessions. One of my team mate and his wife came over to India to attend my wedding. This was one the most amazing gift I have received from my Aussie mates.Like a responsible friend, they took me for a barbecue (barbie) near Shelly beach. They warned me of Spiders and Drop bears.Currently one of my team mate is helping me with information around the Australia’s education process, and helping me with information around education loans etc.I have received lot of love from Aussies here and am always looking for ways to repay the love back by helping in any way possible. So my point of view is that my Aussie friends have certainly made me feel very welcomed and I respect them a lot for all of this.Have a good one Mate.Edit: image courtesy : Google.
