Do Books Manage To Actually Scare You

Horror Film fans what movies actually scare you?

The Exorcist and Exorcist III (scary and underrated)
Poltergeist is a classic and if you watch it alone at night by yourself it is scary
Poltergeist II is creepy, especially the old guy he still gives me the creeps.
Psycho II (with Anthony Perkins is freaky)
It is hard to find a good scary movies anymore. I have not seen a really scary movie in a long time.
I thought Paranormal Activity did a good job with the suspense.
I think being scared has a lot to do with having a good imagination and being able to scare yourself. Todays modern horror movies have less suspense, I think people today need more action and less suspense. A good horror movie plays on your imagination and does not need to have a lot of stuff happening . It comes down to personal preference, but there is nothing better than a horror movie that actually can scare you.
If you have not see any of the movies I mentioned give them a try. They still give me the creeps.
Hope you find some good ones...let me know.

My anger really scares me?

I've been having really bad anger issues ever since I was young back then I could control it. It got worse with my first pregnancy when I found out my fiancé at the time cheated on me while I was pregnant. That changed my whole attitude. I have a lot of built up resentment towards him for such pain. I love my son to death I will die for him but just being a product of something that hurt me so bad hurts me. . I'm now pregnant again after a 2 year split we finally reconciled our differences. However I still can't get over it and my anger is now worse than ever..

Now moving forward my attitude towards everything is violent, physically mentally and emotionally: I also feel as if losing so many family members (parent, sibling) and lack of support I had growing up is also a huge issue. I black out I throw stuff I wish bad things in people I curse uncontrollably I even tried to hit someone with my car

I'm really scared because once I calm down I'm calm but when I see black it is a wrap!

I'm just scared now because I don't want my children to have any issues due to my issues and I also don't want to end up with further health issues due to my own anger problems! I already suffer from anxiety and I feel as if I'm either suffering from Bipoar Depression. But I know I need help and I've tried everything. the boy thing that calms be down is my anxiety medicine and I don't know what to do

Is black magic actualy real?

There is no such thing as black magic. What you saw your friend using was actually the dark side of the force, whose aptly named capacity for darkness causes it to frequently be confused with black magic, which technically doesn't exist. The force is a binding metaphysical and ubiquitous power that is exuded by all living things and binds the galaxy together. The dark side, which your friend was using, feeds off negative emotions like jealousy and anger. Sometimes, people who have not been properly trained will go about attempting to use the force as "black magic", and occasionally accidentally manage to harness the power of the force, usually with negative consequences. To prevent this from happening, please contact your nearest Jedi Knight base for directions on how to handle this situation.

What harm can a boggart actually do?

Can a boggart actually do any harm? Yes and no. A boggart feeds on human emotion, like a dementor, but unlike a dementor, it does not thrive on sad memories, it thrives on fear. It basically eats fear, if that makes sense to you. Hence, the boggart transforms itself into what any person nearby fears most in order to increase and feed on that fear. However, the only real harm a boggart alone can do is whatever the person’s greatest fear can. For example, if a person is afraid of a dragon, then since the boggart essentially becomes what the person fears, although sometimes a weaker version, the dragon-boggart might breathe fire and accidentally burn or kill people or surrounding furniture or shrubbery, etc.

Mystery Books--but not scary?

Try Elizabeth Peters. She writes adventurous mysteries both historical and present day. She has a great historical series with the lead character Amelia Peabody and they are absolutely wonderful. Another limited series she writes in the present feature a character named Vicki Bliss and I love them as well. She also writes good present-day mysteries as Barbara Michaels.

For more historical mysteries, Anne Perry writes two terrific series. One is the Inspector Pitt series and the other are about a character name Monk (not the television one). The first is late Victorian, the second more like Crimean War era. Really like them both. They are pretty who-done-it style with absolutely impeccable historic detail.

You might also try Sue Grafton's alphabetical series, J.D. Robb for a bit more adult futuristic series, Caroline Hart who writes fairly light mysteries, and I've heard everyone loves Janet Evanovich, although I haven't tried her yet.

What are some really good books to read?

Hi, in the last few months I have been reading a really good trilogy, well I am not sure if is a trilogy I mean there are 3 books in which there comes a point when the 3 stories are connected.
In the first one that is called Anna and the french kiss the principal character is a senior girl, her father decides to send her to an American school in Paris where she meets this guy called Étienne St. Claire and they start to create a cute relationship but before they even start they have to get through to a lot of stuff.
In the second one Lola is a sixteen year old girl that has 3 wishes, to go to her prom dance dressed as Marie Antoinette with a really big dress, the second is that her parents accept her boyfriend who is a little bit older than her so they don´t like him and the third one is to never see the Bell twins again so the story is about her making real her wishes, the problems start when the twins return ti neighborhood again.
I haven´t read the last book but I can´t wait to do it. All the 3 books are from Stephanie Perkins.
I really like those books so I hope you like them too. Hi, in the last few months I have been reading a really good trilogy, well I am not sure if is a trilogy I mean there are 3 books in which there comes a point when the 3 stories are connected.

How do I manage thousands of books on a kindle?

Wow, that collection is impressive. And congrats on the gift-a Paperwhite is a real bliss for a book lover. However, I am not sure you need to (or even want to) do that.4000 books is a huge number. Managing that number of texts in any one device or platform is a considerable amount of work. Not to mention converting them into another format to import into another device. Even if you somehow manage to do that, what is the point?Books are to be read, reread, treasured and loved-not to be stored or stocked or managed, in my humble opinion. I will admit I have the same problem of book lovers - I own more titles than I could possibly finish in a lifetime. We all do that. We are collectors. So there is no shame. However, throughout the journey of reading, even with a handy electronic device like the Paperwhite, I found that having more titles at your disposal is only better than having a select few at a time unless you actually get to read all of them-or at least some of them. I don't know about you, but when my Paperwhite is stocking with full memory of unfinished titles, it gives pressure to my mind rather than plesasure. I will feel less focused and determined to finish that one novel I vowed to when I am facing 10 different ones competiting for my attention every time I turn on the device. That's why I do not even attempt to download every single one of my favourite titles-The HP series, Jin Yong Wuxia, Betrand Russell's philosophical treaties, etc. - into my Paperwhite. Instead, I download it when I feel like finishing it- this appraoch empowers me and motivates me to finish the Conquest of Happiness withthin two working weeks. Since it is the same handpicked title(s) of your own choices every time you turn on the device, it in turn reinforce your determination to finish them- instead of downloading and managing all of them and just letting them hang around there and feeling false satisfaction, while you secretly lodge yourself for unable to finish any. Knock yourself out messing around with your new toy. Always take small concrete steps to really start reading, not big grand plans.

Are there actually hitmen on the dark web?

To be honest, I doubt it. I've come across a number of sites that claim to offer assassination services, but after researching the topic, it seems that most of these are scams. What might happen is that someone will pay the alleged “hitman” an exorbitant amount of bitcoin to carry out a hit on a target, and then it will never happen.A good example of this is the now-defunct site called Besa Mafia, which claimed to offer assassination, torture, and beatings for bitcoin. The site was exposed by several people, and was found to be an elaborate scam (apparently a lucrative one, too). Google it if you don't believe me! Here's one link about it, actually: The curious case of Besa MafiaIn fact, I also wrote a blog post about it when the site was still up, and the admin actually took the time to insult me for it! That, to me, was a dead giveaway. So, I'm inclined to think that the rest are scams too, although I don't have hard evidence debunking each one. Of course, there are real hitmen in the world, but most are associated with gangs or some other form of organized crime. Their hits are assigned via word-of-mouth, I assume, because they know whom they can and can't trust. They don't need to set up silly-looking websites to advertise their services.

When was the last time you were really scared?

My friend had a sweet 16 Limo party. We took the limo to Albany from where we live (like a 40 minute drive) to go out to dinner but on the way none of us really noticed where we were. He went through some back road and a town we've never seen before. There is a main highway you take to get there and he definitely wasn't on it. All of a sudden, everything in the limo started turning off..
the music went first (we didn't think much of it), the lights started flickering slowly, the power locks and windows went and we felt the limo pulling off the side of the road..

We got the window open a little and we were sitting on a dark back road with one street light and one house about a mile up.. mind you there are 6 16 year old girls in here, so our immediate reaction was to scream.. the little window to talk to the driver wouldn't open either so we were kidn of stuck inside...the driver got out and didn't talk to us, he like slowly walked over to the only house on the street so we're all thinking we're dead, oh my god, he's going to kill us, rape us, blah blah..
a man comes out of the house but still no one talks to us..
we all called our parents and like told them the story but they just said to relax..i'm sitting there crying like a babyyy.. the birthday girl decided to get out of the car and the people at the house were yelling about god knows what (even more scared at thisi point) and finally are creepy driver "Dopey Dave" comes over and says that something went wrong with the car and it just overall died..

so her parents had to come get us and we got another limo and an extension of 8 hours...
after we got the new limo we were fine, we got a new driver who took us to the restaurant then drove us to a party after and waited until the next morning to bring everyone home.. it was great, and yes.. we were all really embarrased

I'm 17 years old, and I am really afraid of school. What should I do?

I am not sure of the details of your fears about school, but there can be many. While fear can be a normal response; sometimes, it can be a whole lot of worry for no reason. Let's try to break it down. Fear is a natural response that is rooted in a basic instinct for protecting ourselves. Our senses get heightened temporarily, and we can get get out of potentially dangerous situations. The bad news is that while it is more reasonable to be afraid of a bear or other large beast; being afraid of things like speaking in public or being nervous around members of the opposite sex are not likely the same level of deadliness. It might be a good idea to consider professional counseling to help sort out fears and finding better responses to it, specific to your needs and abilities. This can be supplemented with self-help books, which you can flip through on your own and decide if it sounds ok to you.  The bottom line is that people are like batteries, rechargeable, but still batteries. We have a fixed amount of energy to spend on daily activities. Our energy can be drained by things like fear, anger, guilt and worry. Devoting energy to such non-productive uses of energy prevents it from being used for positive uses of things like learning, understanding and other forms of growth. It is a matter of teaching your mind to manage what is out there, and learning to make better assessments of threats. It takes time and practice, but it can be done.
