Do turks fear albanians?
I'm albanian christian and it seems that a lot of turks are afraid of albanians. Are they afraid that Skanderbeg will be coming back to help us in our crusade against them because under Skanderbeg we beat the turks in every battle and we were outnumbered as well. And all turks are relatively short and small people, so i assume when they stare at a illyrian giant they shiver in their boots right?
Albanian- Turkish Relations?
As you may well know from any history source the Ottoman Empire conquered much of the Balkan Peninsula, including Albanian speaking territories. Before Albania could achieve its independence almost 450 years had to pass (Albania gained its independence on 28 november 1912). So it's understandable that, say, an albanian student reading his country's history, might be a little "offended" with what had happened. Anyway, soon after the Albanians had other things to watch out: their total annihilation as a state. The Greeks and Serbs both wanted to take every bit possible from the newest fragile country. After WW2 the communists took power and Albania undertook a complete isolation from the world. When the people realized that it couldn't continue like this anymore, they overthrew the regime and democracy began to take its first steps. Now I did all this intro so that my answer is more clear: It must be said that more recent events concern the Albanians, hating the Turks NOT being one of them! I've been living in the capital city (Tirana) until very recently and I have never heard of the supposed hate that Albanians have towards Turkish people. Indeed, what's the point to hate somebody for something that has happened long, long ago we were born?
How do Greeks or Turks see Christian Albanians (Catholic or Orthodox)?
Greeks see Albanians generally in a negative light for 2 main reasons. Historically Albanians assisted the axis powers in WW2 in Fascist Italy’s invasion of Greece in order to expand southwards.Currently there was a huge influx of Albanian illegal immigrants in Greece in the last decades. This population contributed greatly to the increase of criminality in the country.Generally it doesn’t matter to the Greeks whether these Ablanians are Christian or Muslim. Why do people think Albanians are like Turks?
Okay so I checked the internet about Albania the other day and I got into this convo with some people and they kept asking me about my country and I thought it was cool, so I told them stuff, until they were like "Why do so many of you look like you have turkish ancestors" - OKAY so... just ten minutes ago, you didn't know **** about my country and now you come at me with some bullshit like turkish ancestors? I mean... WTF? Why is that people ALWAYS have to mention Turkey when talking about Albania - WHY? I mean I understand it's probably because of the Ottoman Empire thing, but other countries were living under ottoman rule, too and seriously... that's like so not relevant anymore and since when do we look like Turks? I do not think so! The reason why I am pissed is because when people talk about Greece for example, they're like "Oh yea... Greek mythology, you know the greek gods and uhm, what else? Feta cheese, lmaooo... but seriously - what I'm trying to say is that they all have their own identity, but when people talk about Albania, they're like "Oh right... they are like turkish people" and it's so depressing, because it's so not like that, but there's nothing you can do about it and so it continues... yea I know Albania was isolated for so long, blah blah - but that's not an excuse and we have to start to inform people about the REAL Albania and who we really are! I mean we have such a rich and ORIGINAL culture and I also think some of us should start to be MORE albanian again and I mean REAL albanian. Cut the "turkish brotherhood" bullshit, because honestly - that's not cute and makes us look like fools - especially if you think about the past and what they did to us. Nothing against turkish people, but history is history... and people say "never forget" so yeah...
Why do some Albanians and Greeks despise Turkey and the Turks?
I think most Greeks don’t have issues with Turks as individuals and welcome them to Greece. The Greeks do not like the Turkish government. However, the Albanian government also seems to feel the same way, but so does about 50% of the Turkish population. I mean you cannot say all Turks all love and adore each other. The polarization in Turkish society is quite huge over politics.I think a lot of the Albanians seem to get along fine with Turks as individuals. They may not like some of the Ottoman history, but is that unusual? People don’t like being controlled by others, right? However, I have seen plenty of Albanians coming to Turkey to study, and there are plenty of Turks of Albanian descent.I am sure there are some people some people in any country who don’t like from some other country. People can find reasons to like or not like other people. And as one person mentioned, you can find Greeks who don’t like Albanians and Albanians who don’t like Greeks. Is that really so strange?Why not focus on the positives and the many who have a good time hanging out together?
Are the Greeks considered as Christian Turks?
No. This is a frequent (and rather racist) claim made by peoplle with a grudge against Greeks or claims on Greek land or history--famously nationalists in Albania and FYROM will do this (the ones in FYROM will often also claim the Greeks are Christian Turks AND Albanians, ironic because Albanians made up at most 25% of early modern Greece while they make up close to 30%- 40% of FYROM by some estimates).Muslim Turks were unlikely to convert Christianity during the Ottoman period as (1) that was illegal (2) why would you give up being part of the ruling class to take up the language, religion and culture of “second class" citizens?Rather there is a long history of Greeks and others being assimilated into the Turkish nation via religion and then language. In Greek the verb “Tourkevno” means to become a Muslim ie to become a “Turk.”
To Albanians: Would you hate me?

I reasked this hoping to find some decent Albanians on earth but it turns youre just like them, all of them. My father may be muslim but have you ever thought about my witch mother? shes exactly like you. May I say shes no better either. As for being gay, this is the ignorance I was talking about. you have no clue what it means to be gay and neither will you accept that Albanians are not this supreme race and are just like the rest of the world. Being gay is something I had WAYYYY before i realized what those feelings were, and because of people like you, other Albanians like me kill themselves or can find no better job than prostitution because of the discrimination you placed on them. I cry tears and can't even watch Albanians make themselves look stupid throughout the world. I only wish I couldn't hate my place of origin but you bigots are making it difficult :'(
