Why do some conservatives regard gun control as an attempt to ban all guns?Because it often is. The Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the right of all citizens to be armed; that, along with free speech, free religion, and separation of powers, was intended to LIMIT the power of govt. over the people. Here’s the catch; the same arguments in favor of registering guns, banning certain guns, etc. can be used to go as far down the disarmament road as the anti-gunners want to go; if they can restrict us to 1000 rounds of ammo in storage, why not 100? Why not 10? If I am not to be trusted with an AR-15, why AM I to be trusted with a Remington 7400?But the real deal is this. Back in the ‘90s, the NRA actually did bargain with the anti-gunners, and cut a couple of deals from the Brady Bill to import bans to magazine capacity restrictions. The NRA thought it had a deal. But to the NRA’s surprise, the anti-gunners did not look at it as a deal; to them, it was Step 1. Far from acting as if a compromise was reached, the anti-gunners were if anything even more aggressive after that. At that moment the NRA realized that the anti-gunners really don’t want a deal, or a compromise; they want the guns. The NRA made a mistake but learned from it, and now the NRA will not bargain in any way, all those bills hit their sunsets, and we have our guns back. The antis brought it on themselves.
Will conservatives ever admit that guns are a serious problem?
Firearms have been a part of this nation since BEFORE it was a nation. Firearms as an issue only occurred after liberal/progressive firearm policies were enacted into law. The problem is not firearms, nor the lack of firearms laws. There are over 20 THOUSAND firearm laws across this great nation.See, the problem with laws is that criminals do not obey them. Murder is illegal, it still happens. If you use a firearm while committing a crime….you get a harsher punishment. A very low estimate of 65 million legal, law abiding firearm owners in the US. These firearm owners own a very low estimate of over 300 million firearms. The law abiding firearm owners, nor their firearms are the issue. Criminals are.Criminals who commit crimes including murder are usually coddled by liberal policies. Blame is placed on others. Blame is placed on tools. The blame is rarely placed on the person committing the crime. Oh sure, they may get convicted, but libs hate the death penalty. Even in states that still use the death penalty, it takes decades to actually put the criminal to death. In that time, liberals demand that the death penalty be abolished….and enact any number of law suits to that end.Gun free zones, a liberal advent, does nothing but create what is called “soft targets”. Individuals that are bent on mayhem use these soft targets. Police stations, gun shows, gun stores….rarely the scene of shootings, much less mass shootings.Start by reversing liberal policies from the last thirty years. Then go back even further.I was in high school in the 80's. Graduated in 89. Any time through the school year you could check vehicles in the parking lot and find rifles and shotguns proudly hanging on a rack in the back window. No school shootings took place.Firearms are not the issue, liberal policies are. Liberals…..are the problem

I think both you and they are operating under false assumptions. There is no pistol registration in West Virginia. The form FFL deal;ers use is a record of sale (BATFE form 4473), but it is not a centralized registration. Private sales are legal, and do not require paperwork (althoug a bill of sale is usually a good idea anyways)

I agree with tighter gun control. Just not the kind many people think. If you want to reduce the number of people killed with guns each year, there are many effective things that can be done, that are not being done. Mandatory minimum sentencing for felon in possession, top of the list. Most of the gun homicides are related to gangs and drugs.Going after a piece of equipment, is foolish. We need guns to protect ourselves and our country. We need to work harder to make sure that people who get access to firearms are responsible. It should be noted that; Lawful use of firearms saves way more lives each year than they take. Guns and easy access to guns has been around for a long time. What has changed?Is liberal gun control about homcides or just about control? All facist, socialist governments begin by taking away the guns.

YES! And they still are at it. Gun sales are off because they no longer are worried that their right to kill will be taken away. Remington has filed for bankruptcy. But there has never been any credible legislation presented to Congress to take away the right to buy guns…ever! Even if you are stark raving mad, totally insane, and blind you can buy a gun. There are no checks required for private sales nor are there checks for sales at gun shows.Look at how gullible the right wing is with conspiracy theories about the latest school shooting, how gullible they are with how Hillary was going to sell uranium to Russia (it takes an act of congress to do that, so if the right was concerned it was because they were worried the GOP was going to sell uranium since they were in charge of Congress, not Hillary). Same gullible people bad mouth the Clinton's about their foundation EXCEPT it was Trump running a crooked foundation not the Clinton's, who get no money from theirs, but Trump did from his before the State of New York shut it down. Look at how gullible they are about health care, global warming, environmental issues other than global warming, employment Carrier has laid off just about all the people they said they were going to even after they fooled VP Pence into giving them millions of dollars. Same gullible people wonder why the DOJ has not gone after Hillary when the DOJ has nothing to go after them for! Same for Obama. Look t ow Hope Hicks has now admitted she told lies about Trump to protect him but the right believs everything he says is the truth…how gullible is that!!?? The list goes on and on.

So I have a few republicans on my Facebook that advocate for no gun laws or regulation at all... Meaning anyone should be able to buy a gun and bring them anywhere... Is this really what Republicans want or is this fringe?
