Do Horror Movies Mess With You

What is a REALLY scary horror movie? like one that will mess with your head.?

Eden Lake will mess with your head. Especially the ending. ♥

Did horror movies mess me up.... and change me mentally?

Okay im 15 and i think im gay. Well im pretty sure.... i dont know if that makes a difference or not.
Anyway.... when i was little my parents let me watch whatever movies i wanted to and i really liked scary movies so i watched real hardcore stuff when before i even got into highschool. So i know im desensetized (idk how to spell it) and those types of movies dont affect me anymore. Now it takes like a really extreme horror movie to scare me.
Anyway when i was i think 12 i found out that it was really hot to me when the guys in the horror movies got tortured and stuff. Like when wade in house of wax was beaten by vincent strapped into his torture chair and burned.... stuff like that. Now i watch movies on adult sites where the guys are like slaves and are hurt and made to do stuff which gets me hot. But i think im getting desensetized to that now because i need to look at much harder stuff to get off now. I feel really guilty after i finish too.... i dont feel guilty when im watching it just after. :/
So did watching those movies when i was just a little kid change me mentally and make me get off to guy being hurt? is it bad thst i like that too?

Do you, with regard to horror movies, have a line at which it crosses from entertainment to something else?

Definitely. Being a person with a decent imagination, I don’t need to be hammered with a “slasher jackhammer” to get that spooky, eerie, uneasy feeling.Good examples are the 2015 film “The Visit” and the 2017 film “Get Out!” which developed slowly and unpeeled their characters like the layers of a very frightening onion.Another would be the classic 1956 film “The Bad Seed.” No need for all-out grossness, just an excellent literary foundation to scare us.If you read, may I suggest you read William March’s powerful and very chilling novel “The Bad Seed” from which both the Broadway play and film were derived? No buckets of blood and toes being lopped off close-up; just a slow, scary ride until you finally realize what is going on.Conversely, films like “Saw” and “Hostel” are fine when you are in the mood for Grindhouse-type movies but I really find them excessive for my tastes.I am not in any way disrespecting hardcore fans of the “slasher” sub-genre of horror. I watched all three “Jeepers Creepers” films and found them exciting and scary.

What are some scary movies that mess with your head?

the hills have eyes and the exorcism

Do messed up movies mess up your mind?

So ive watched a lot of F*cked up movies this week, Ive watched "Serbian Film" Ive watched "SAW" Ive watched "i spit on your grave" (Newest one), "Hard Candy" Ive also been on shock websites and seen "three guys one hammer" Which is real life

Im 16 and Lately I think these things messed up my mind in terms that I not scared in death anymore since I have no more faith in humanity, Its not that I cant go to sleep, its just that I look at the human race a lot different know, It makes me a bit mad and actually wants me to kill every Sl*t and man whore at my school, at in the world if that were possible
Is it the movies and the things ive seen that messed up my mind or is it just puberty? Because I know for a fact that when you grow older you have less mercy then when you were a child...
I think i need help or I will probably go on a rampage of 1000 students dead If I had a machine gun at my house LOL (Live in Australia)

I dunno what do you guys think? Did this ever happened to you?

Is it true that psychological horror movies/games don't have jump scares?

No, that is not true. Many psychological horror movies have things in them that cause the audience to jump or startle. I’d argue that “Silence of the Lambs” is a psychological horror yet has several things that occur that cause the audience to jump or have a startle reflex. “Psycho” is defiantly a psychological movie yet has several jump scares. And there are crossover movies that can be psychological or pure horror, depending on how you look at them. “The Exorcist” for example. Is it pure horror about a little girl who becomes possessed? Or is it a story about how a young priest loses his faith and regains it due to his participation in the exorcism? Or is the entire movie a set up for the battle between the older priest and the demon? There are PLENTY of jump scares in this movie. “The Silent House” is a horror of psychological nature. Zac Bagins’ documentary “Demon House” could be seen as psychological in that what is going on has a direct physical and psychological effect on Zac and his crew. There is one particular scare in there that …. OH MAN!! Zac about jumps through a wall. The original “Cube” is very psychological. The “Saw” films are rather psychological also. But LOTS of jump scares. So, I’d say that there are numerous movies that are horror but also of a psychological nature too.

If I were trying to make a horror movie to scare as many people as possible psychologically, yet still be a quality film, what would the plot be?

That is called a good psychological thriller and should be what most films are! A good movie that's scary, but a little bit realistic. Here are some good examples:Rosemary’s Baby (1968):This movie is just meant to mess with your head. It is fantastic, very well done, and interesting. Also, there’s Vacancy (2007):This movie is an underrated thriller and it’s actually a fantastic movie! If you want your mind to be in a lot of pain check out Identity (2003):Even the poster is eerie and fascinating enough. The last couple may be thrillers more than horror movies and if you like thriller, then check out Funny Games (1997):This is one of the freakiest movies I’ve ever seen! You won’t come out the same after this one.Now watch something by David Lynch. He is freaky and weird and perfect. He’s an excellent experimental filmmaker. Check out Mulholland Dr. (2001).This will creep you out and disturb you in ways you’ve never imagined. You will leave questioning everything you know, even though the violence isn’t the focus of this film.Check some of these out for inspiration!I hope this helped :) have a great day!
