Do I Eat Enough For My Age

Am I eating enough?

I eat around 900-1300 calories usually.
I am not underweight and I have been eating like this for a year, so I never really thought I have been under eating, but it seems like I might be.

I am 13. 5'4 and 105 lbs. A child/teen bmi calculator tells me a bmi of 18 is healthy for my age.

I never seem to have enough energy, and I want to build muscle for sprinting, but I am also afraid of gaining fat, although this is not the reason why I am eating so little.

My mom thinks I'm not eating enough?

I'm confused, My mom keeps telling me that I do not eat enough, that the amount of food I'm eating is only "for my daily needs". But truthfully, I think I eat like a pig most of the time. At school, everyone calls me "the big eater" and "the human trash can" because when somebody doesn't finish their food, I'd finish it for them. And it happens everyday. I hate seeing food being thrown away ._.;;

The other reason why I'm eating a lot is because I want to grow. I would never think of dieting.

So why is my mom telling me that I'm not eating enough? Is it because my weight isn't the same amount when she was my age? I eat a normal portion for dinner (that's when my mom is home), because I hate going to sleep on a full stomach :/ But I don't want her to worry.

I'm 14 years old, 41 kilograms and about 5 feet tall.

My baby does not eat enough. What should I do?

I've always been underweight. I've been small since birth and I've stopped growing at an inch under five feet. As a baby my parents were always incredibly concerned over my eating since I was underweight. This was the same in my early childhood. I was adopted from a poor hospital in Russia, which didn't have the best supplies to care for all the babies, including not having enough good food and not having any medicine. As a child I just didn't want to eat and I've always been an incredibly picky eater. This probably stemmed from my brain subconsiously not accepting foods it saw as possibly dangerous like something I wasn't familiar with or something that in the hospital could've gotten me sick. My parents were right to be so concerned, though. Eventually in fourth grade at around age eight I was hospitalized when I had abdominal migraines which is really just a fancy term for constant and uncontrollable vomiting. After around three weeks I was discharged. It wasn't the first time I had been hispitalized either. Before and after that I had short stays less that 24 hours to get an IV for dehydration. You are right to be concerned for your child. Get them to eat however you can and see a pediatritian. Even if they don't eat very healthily it's better than not eating at all. Try to find ways to get them to try new foods once in a while when they have the capacity to eat by themselves. It might be nothing and that's the more likely case, but be ready if it continues into childhood because it could get serious. I turned out fine. I'm still a really picky eater and still slightly underweight, but I've accepted that. I hope your baby is okay and that this helped at least a little bit.

Am I not eating enough?

I agree with Melissa Hoy. A moderately active female in her teens and 20s require about 2000 Calories for a properly functioning body (Daily Calorie Requirements), so do count your Calories; for your weight and height you are eating way too less! You can install an app on your smartphone and they will track it for you. Also, count how much Calories are you losing in your yoga and cardio exercises. Your daily Calorie would be Intake (food) minus the Consumption (Exercises),  that would give you a clearer picture on the required calories by you. A balanced diet is essential for a healthy weight loss and a healthier lifestyle You can look here: Build a Healthy Food Foundation on how to maintain a balanced diet. I see that you are just eating fruits and vegetables, you should be including protein in your diet through eggs, meat, lentils etc. It is quite essential to develop the muscle mass, which although will make you gain a slight weight but would be great for your body! Also, you should be including a small amount of carbohydrates like brown rice, rolled oats etc. in your diet as they are rich in energy. Include some low fat dairy as well it will help you lose fat (see video #2). This might help you realize how much is 200 Calories: I would recommend this video as well on how to lose and maintain weight.

AAHHH!!! Did I throw up enough?

I became bulimic when I was your age and it started just like that. I started throwing up the little things that I thought would make me fat. I thought, "I can eat what I want and throw it up and not get fat." The condition worsened and consumed my life. My life revolved around it starting in collge. I actually ended up gaining weight from it when I was around 19. My metabolism slowed and I became so focused on food.

I finally entered an inpaitient treatment center for bulimics which helped my condition. However, I am 23 now still have urges to purge.

Please, if you do not feel like you are bulimic now, then stop. It is an addictive habit, similar to acholosim except more difficult because we have to eat to survive.

For all of you who say "People like you disgust me" ... please consider your words. Comments like that will only make the condition worse. To say such things digusts me.

How can I properly readjust my body to eat enough for my age and height?

I'm 18 years old, 176 cm (5′9″) and 63 kg (139 lbs). I know it's not critical, but for the past 4 years I have been doing close to zero physical effort. As high school started, I went into a stage of stupid teenage depression rebelliousness and I started smoking, in 10th grade. In addition to that, cigarettes cut my appetite and my eating schedule got scattered and oftentimes when I did eat, I ate greasy or sugary foods. Last summer I layed off the smoking, but I binge-drank weekly. Now I stopped both almost completely but I am worried because I have no idea how to properly adjust my body to eat more and more in order to build muscle and body mass properly. Does anybody have any advice?

How did woolly mammoths eat enough grass during the ice age to support such huge bodies?

Mammoths lived in tundra Tundra. This is a type of landscape known for being in permafrost, permanently frozen, but in summer a layer at the top melts, providing water, which fuels the growth of grass, moss, lichen and other plants. But not trees, trees struggle in the tundra, their roots cannot penetrate the permafrost. So for all spring and summer the current occupants of the tundra, raindeer and musk ox eat their heads off. They are able to build up a layer of fat which provides both insulation and food reserves for winter. However they are still able to eat for most of winter, because the Tundra gets very little percipitation. Snow falls only as a thin layer, and is frequently blown off the ground by the high winds which are also typical of the Tundra. Raindeer and Musk-ox paw the snow away with their feet, in order to access the grass and other plants underneath.

I'm 14, I eat 800 calories a day; is this enough? I'm not trying to lose weight, I just...?

I'm 14, I eat 800 calories a day; is this enough? I heard recently people my age should eat more than that. I'm not trying to lose weight, I just don't have a big appetite. Never have. I simply don't need much food to maintain a healthy weight (100 pounds, 5'6, or 46 kg, 168.5 cm).
I don't think I could eat any more, my appetite is my appetite, I can't change it.

Is 800 calories (roughly, maybe a little less on some days, a little more on others) okay?
